    I'm someone who does the research and waiting before I make my purchases. Making sure that it's something that will fit for me and my collection. 😊 I enjoy watching a variety of reviews for different types of makeup, both of those with my skin tone/type, and those opposite of me to make educated decisions too.

    I do the research, but also watch the research for entertainment. Even tho I don't buy most palettes, I can see how a brand is performing or improving. I also get inspo to use what I have from seeing diff looks.
    Multiple reviews lets me see how eyeshadows perform on different skintones and w different techniques.
    I have creators who I favor more due to personality. Sometimes I just like hearing them talk about their life or ideas while I'm doing chores or getting ready.
    I usually find smaller creators bc they are reviewing an eyeshadow palette I'm interested in, but there aren't many reviews up. I also find that smaller creators align more w how the everyday consumer thinks bc they usually have day jobs, similar financial constraints, and other everyday challenges that affect makeup purchases.

    Have always wanted to try Klarity but from the creators I’ve watched their palettes are hit n miss. The color story looks pretty but the reviews I’ve watched haven’t raved about it. It’s sad because I feel like the brand is struggling within the community, the indie makeup community is definitely oversaturated right now but that means there’s more to try. For your question, I’ve tried a lot and now that I know what I like I try to stick with the brands that excite me the most but also have formulas that work for me. I don’t watch as many first impressions but I do like seeing “best of” for brands and yearly roundups of makeup and skincare. There are too many creators now so it’s not possible to watch everything - I tend to wait for Angelika’s reviews before I buy something but I do watch certain creators for certain brands; you for Catrice, Essence and Kiko!

      I feel like there's potential to the brand, some of their palettes look so good, but the quality needs to be consistent. I love roundup reviews and favorite videos as well! It's a good way to get inspired

    I found you BECAUSE I was researching a palette! I don't buy a lot of palettes because I work from home, so while I do wear makeup fairly often when going out, I don't get to wear eyeshadow a lot. I find that I tend to steer towards cooler tones, and I love blues, greens, and purples. If research shows that the eyeshadow palette is great, the packaging then comes into question. Because of this set of rules for myself, I only have 6 palettes hahaha (it was mostly Colourpop but now I am replacing them with better quality)

    Ooo! I'm excited for the new videos this week of palette from brands I haven't tried yet. The Beauty Bay Botanical palette is tempting, so pretty. And the High Temp palette is gorgeous and on my wishlist. 😊
    But I've sort of just steered away from Klarity honestly. But I know they've recently reformulated.

    The best way to describe Klarity's shimmers that i have found is "silty." Ive had some that straight up feel like sand to the touch and some are softer, but they apply like sand. Lots of fallout and poor adhesion without saturating yourself in glitter glue/shimmer primer. I like their mattes usually, although some are so so tightly packed that they're minimally pigmented.. overall, i only really purchase from them when they have a scavenger hunt😅 theyre not worth it to me otherwise:/ beautiful color stories but just not worth the cost.

      @MarlieWijn  Před 25 dny

      @@2OblivionandBeyond yes totally agree! They are loose like sand! But they can do more smooth shimmers as well, I wouldn't mind if the whole palette was like that

  • @slazary92
    @slazary92 Před 25 dny +1

    Depends. Lately, I have been doing more research, and I have a clearer understanding of what I like and what's working for me. There were times when I gave up to the hype, usually if it was a collaboration with a youtuber or franchise I liked. Nowadays, I want to wait for reviews from people not getting the products in PR, though I don't mind watching them for swatches. If it's a brand I'm familiar with, who's formulas I know to be consistent, then I might skip the research.
    That was the longest way to say "sometime."

    Thanks for reviewing this Marlie! (Looks like I lead you astray? Lol, oops sorry. But I have not used this brand before) For what it’s worth.. this review by you does exactly what “we” as viewers are looking for!! Honest opinions! I personally will watch a few different videos on a palette to make my decision. I pick people whose opinion I value but they may see things differently at times. Or I like to see different “looks” so I can see how each shade performs, etc.. ✨However, if ONE YT’er doesn’t like it & I can see why… then it will be a NO for me purchasing it. Your review alone tells me it’s a big NO. While I do think Glitter Primer “might” have helped… I also saw some blending issues with the first color. (Could have been your primer not being dry? Maybe. But not gonna find out.) *I also was not impressed with the “shifts” on the multi-chromes when you showed swatches. (That was a biggie cause that is why this palette is so pricey) IMO this was a successful video. Very informative Marlie! ❤

      That's okay! Now we know 😄 Yes I feel like the explanation of someone's opinion is most important in the end. Someone might not like something, but explain it in such a way that you realize it could be for you. Agree on the shifts, these shadows were more sparkly than actually shifty!

    Wasted opportunity: 8:07 “It’s a skin of a killer Bella!”
    I think they are hand poured (if I can judge from the swirls in the pans) and that’s something I personally find is mostly used with the most obnoxious formulas, like Pat McGrath “special” shades. Which have glitters sharp as a glass that end up looking as if Tinkerbell had a bachelorette party on your face (the only special thing they gave me was red eye from glitters in my eye because not even glitter glue could hold onto that monstrosity) like not even Oden’s eye most glitteriest (that’s a word now) eyeshadow never did that to me.
    I hope you find a way that will help you work with them tho ❤ I hate money wasted on crap formulas even if it’s not my money. Thanks for the video. ❤

    My main "research" consists of watching live swatches and comparison swatches with other palettes or single eyeshadows. And I prefer the smaller creators that buy their own products as opposed to those that receive them in PR. For me the looks done with one palette or another are not important as compared to seeing the shades in detail. Especially as nowadays, the market being overloaded with so many launches, it's not often that we are seeing more unusual shades or something different that stands out.
