- Grateful Greyhounds hosted its annual Fall Ball fundraiser at Belmont Lake State Park in North Babylon, NY. Proceeds went to helping ex-racing greyhounds with broken bones, medical expenses and elder dog care. The highlight of the day was the adoption process, as 26 ex-racers, fresh off of the track, arrived in a dog hauler ready to find forever homes.

Greyhounds really are wonderful pets....
Such beautiful dogs!💖
What a great event. So lovely to see people come to adopt a greyhound. It's done completely different in Britain. I have a rescue greyhound lurcher. He is adorable. So easy going and a couch potato!
awwww, such timid and beautiful creatures
Awh I love my greyhound
What a wonderful organization you are. I’m glad Florida voted to do away with this nonsense (Greyhound Racing) in the recent midterm elections. No animal should be exploited for human entertainment or gambling purposes. They’ve got the most loving faces!
You people do wonderful work!
soon my future love! soon! great work you all!
I live in the mid-west of the United States and owned a Whippet, which is the same type of dog as a Greyhound (Greyhounds are large, Whippets are mid-sized, Italian Greyhounds are small). I have also owned a number of breeds of other dogs and the Whippet really stole my heart, he was the sweetest dog. I have either met or spoken to other owners and they all say the same thing, this breed is very gentle and loving. People tend to think this breed only race around but that is actually not the case. Give these dogs a little running around time daily and they want to be a couch potato since they are sprinters NOT long distance runners.
Lastima que no traducen en español 😞😔
Isn't this unusual to take a do directly from the track to be adopted? Other places take them to the vet first then to be groomed and often to a foster family before they are put up for adoption.
It's ok going with kids, but PLEASE, explain them these are NOT TOYS!
