Takes some real skill to convert a dance track to something you can play on guitar, and Ben pulled it off brilliantly. This is what Live Lounge is all about. 10/10.
Absolutely incredible. It's dangerous when Ben Howard covers other artists songs because he always does such a better job. The soul in his voice gives me life
This is some of the most technical guitar work I've seen in a long time! Fucking crazy. Serious skill to pull off all those natural harmonics, buzz, and specific delay action like this.
The technique is taken directly from John Martyn (look him up playing "I'd Rather Be The Devil" live), and it's not difficult to do once you've dialled in the right tape delay.
+KDCindustries its actually a really easy song to play just takes lots of practice to get the pattern down! I dont understand how he comes up with this stuff tho? Hes a genius !
Every Kingdom Ben Howard: Jeans and an oversized t-shirt I Forget Where We Were Ben Howard: Fully button buttoned ups and lots of black. With his different of styles of music he's adopted different outfits for them, everything that comes with his music is pure perfection. With that being said, I do hope his next album goes back to that folk feel.
Do me a favor plse Will will u listen to this song on .75 speed by clicking the gear icon or bars and going in to playback and changing the playback to .75 and listen to the song and tell me what u think i promise u wont regret it......A fellow Ben Howard fan.
Too beautiful for words. I could listen to this every day of the rest of my life. THANK YOU Ben Howard!!! Thank you Radio 1 for giving me such happiness actually vibrating through my bones. Incredible.
Honestly....WOW! Heard this in the car. had to pull over, turn the engine off and just embrace this track. Like a brand new song, in my opinion night and day between that and the original. Goosebumps! Well played Ben, top man
Has anyone pointed out that the guitar from 1:00 to the end is essentially a re-work of End of the Affair? The songs obviously have similar chord patterns. BH covers are perfection.
So genuine and talented, Ben never manages to fail. What I love about his covers is that he really owns the songs, and with his distinctive voice and unique guitar skills he really makes it worth the while.
Loving the signature BH flair added to a dance track. The half capo, alternate tuning, complex picking percussive style as well as all that echo 😍. It's haunting and mysterious. What a talent!
Seriously theres nothing Ben can do wrong!!! Love this dude so much!!! Most original artist around these days!!! Even keeps his unique sound while doing covers!!!
so I heard this for the first time yesterday evening and now can't stop listening to it. Really interesting arrangement and completely different vibe to the original without losing what maybe kiesza's version great. Ben Howard is amazing.
his timing and rythum are really good he plays like a backing track...he has muchos excellent delay. he cappos the 5 strings "a" to high "e" the bass string is tuned down a bit I would imagine. all this combinded with good vocals + reverb creates this dance feel. Its awesome
I'm in love with Ben Howard.... I am in love with his soul.... He looks like he smells like damp soil... I like that.... I could imagine picking twigs from his hair in a forest... Lol x
the radio should just be Ben Howard doing a cover of every song in the charts
Yup! 😄
hahah yessss please
Omg I couldn’t agree with you more!
On every station it would be perfect
Exactly !

Ben hates the attention so he definitely does not need it. His songs however deserve it all the more ;)
Sooooo beautiful. He always manages to add a hidden depth to whatever he puts his voice too. A rare talent…..
I have no words to describe this... Perfection isn't praise enough for this cover...

This follows the exact same fingerpicking as the fast part of End Of The Affair. I love it!

The fact that this wouldn't sound out of place on his album goes to show how supremely talented this guy is...
Honestly....WOW! Heard this in the car. had to pull over, turn the engine off and just embrace this track. Like a brand new song, in my opinion night and day between that and the original. Goosebumps! Well played Ben, top man
He won me over with the first verse
Mr Howard!!!!! WOW!!! you've done it once more, nothing short of sublime.
Real ones jamming this in ‘21 I see ya 😎
And once again Ben pulls off absolute perfection
Has anyone pointed out that the guitar from 1:00 to the end is essentially a re-work of End of the Affair? The songs obviously have similar chord patterns. BH covers are perfection.
Kind of reminds me of Small Things as well, actually.
Small Things is quite similar as well
I THOUGHT THE SAME THING
Harmonics always make songs sound the same
This guy is sickkkkkkk. Had the honour of seeing him live, unreal
his version makes me love the song ! great !
unreal how amazing this is
You're amazing, Ben. I love you so much and your music!
So genuine and talented, Ben never manages to fail. What I love about his covers is that he really owns the songs, and with his distinctive voice and unique guitar skills he really makes it worth the while.
I can't stop listening to this. Ben Howard slays every live lounge, it's incredible
Forgot about this cover till I re heard it in the background of a video yesterday ugh so gorgeous
How can one turn the song one disliked quite a lot into a masterpiece is beyond me🥰
Best live lounge I've ever seen. Ben Howard comes, he sees and he conquers.
He defiantly does this song justice. Absolutely awesome.
I love how its produced like most of the songs on "I forget where we were"! As if it were one of his own lol
this is much better than the original ❤️
Loving the signature BH flair added to a dance track. The half capo, alternate tuning, complex picking percussive style as well as all that echo 😍. It's haunting and mysterious. What a talent!
This man is a legend ❤️❤️
yes Ben,you're taking me higher than I've ever been before....

Absolutely love the original and this is definitely a brilliant cover, the guy's an accoustic genius
If I had 1/10000th of he's talent I could probably win the X Factor.
Love Ben Howard soooo much. Everything he does is perfection.
music has the ability to stir up emotions..just by sound alone. this has certainly done that. best drug ever in my opinion. outstanding!

SDoody87 Pc Gamer 100%
absolutely love this and love Ben Howard could listen to him all day
Can't get enough of this! Playing it on repeat!
sounds like a bit of small things in there
Harmonics and echo, so yeah
Its not just harmonics and echo but also the exact rythym here and there
My thoughts also
Yep.....especially at the 1:00 minute mark, but it is throughout all of it for sure.
Yes similar delay on guitar
You do always the best but original kiesza is unmatchable;)
So sweet...one of the best covers I've ever heard.
An incredible cover and an INCREDIBLE new album!!!
what kind of fingerstyle is that?
Bit late reply but pick and go he calls it. Sort of pick bass - high - slap. He uses a lot of delay as well obviously
his timing and rythum are really good he plays like a backing track...he has muchos excellent delay. he cappos the 5 strings "a" to high "e" the bass string is tuned down a bit I would imagine. all this combinded with good vocals + reverb creates this dance feel. Its awesome
Sooooo good !!!
