Absolutely absurd damage potential with this thing. REALLY like that it's viable with any weapon as well. TBH I'm not sure I'll do another build for DotD considering I can just swap any weapon into this and still destroy content but maybe at the end of DotD I'll do something else for fun!
Also, please be aware that star gear and graces can't be reliably dropped by revenants. On DotD, gear like this is randomized so if you want this build you need to craft this stuff up yourself!!!
Edit: After additional testing I want to clarify that while the stance switch attacks for Switchglaive work, those for Odachi (Sunset Breeze, Waking Winds) do NOT count towards the bonus. I'm unsure if this is intentional or a bug. You can still run the weapon with Odachi using your regular active skills (Twin Moons, Groundquake, etc) but keep in mind the stance dancers won't apply the buff.

Do the stacks fall off when you switch weapons with the ki pulse switch (also does this talent/ability count as a "skill"? Not high enough level yet but I've been looking forward to builds with 2 weapon builds.
I got a random drop (no farming) writing set with +19% vs no Ki AND +19% vs electrified. I’m grabbing Warrior for my off set, the results should be.... SHOCKING
@@Romoredux Stacks maintain between weapons, you could use 2 weapons to reach all 9 stacks if you wanted.
Tip: When giving the Big Sudama your accessory for star enchantment. The 2nd accessory is irrelevant what color or type you give. I got my Star bonus melee damage vs zero ki enemies on my Yasakani by dropping a BLUE magatama accessory. You just need to drop a 2nd accessory of any kind rest is up to RNG.
YES! I build that I can use whatever I want and don’t have to force myself into confusion spam. I had already finished DotD about in 2 days but was unsatisfied in how I felt when finishing. It felt like a drag rather than a challenge. Enemies were fine but bosses just have an absurd amount of health. And with this build I can just enjoy the game.
I really gotta learn more about this game. Some of the terminology went over my head but the game is really fun. Nice to see people getting the most out of it and its fun to watch

This is a really fun build! I have to ageee it’s one of the best. Plus it’s not spamming one move over and over. It rewards you for using your whole skill list and even your second weapon. Thanks for this video Cowboy

Since the dlc launched I haven’t had the time to try out the splitstaff, but I’ll try to imitate this build, it’s amazing

@@climbhazzard126 Yeah give it a go man, over the course of the two games I've given every weapon a go except for kusarigama and I would say switchglaive is the most fun. No other weapon has stance switching and comboing between stances baked into it as well and like I said before it has a mystic art that is basically the same as versatility where you stack 5 damage buffs for each time you land one of the three switch stance skills.
Then once you have 5 you can either maintain it indefinitely for a really good damage buff or you can let out an attack that is one of if not the hardest hitting single moves in the game, although tbf it's not that easy to land and if you miss you go back to square one.
Although I suppose it might not really work alongside versatility now that I think about it
This is something I've been working on myself. It's perfect for this game. Using any weapon and not focusing on a one hit wonder builds focusing on a singular skill. Very well done Cowboy.
This is the build that i've been looking for. i started my playthrough with switch glaive because it scales with magic but i didnt know of this weapon. i'm getting the dlc and going home and respecing after work!

Incredible build! I like Onmiyo though. I’m using Switch Glave and MonkStaff. That elemental confusion build is what I’m after. Corruption for the humans and purity to the yokai.
Purity is amazing, have a build with Switchglaive and Kusarigama with Purity and it decimates many enemies.

so I went with your build guide got all my pieces of gear and got halfway through the dream of the demon when I realized I made the wrong 5 piece armor set, and kept wondering why my damage wasn't that high. I accidentally made master swordsman's for some reason.

I wish they would let you choose what blessing you get while forging. Could be a material like a "bishamonten's talisman" or something.
I would even be fine if there was materials/cost for you to either , get the Grace you want or maybe like a high chance of getting it; pretty much how they have it for when you forge something and can wager divine frags for a chance at divine crafted gear

Should have a special mission that infuses the grace on the weapon. Like here's ur wooden weapon, and no stat gear. Have fun against this onslaught to get the grace you want.

Small correction, Chinese crown helm is the exact same as using steel talisman. Tested it extensively making sure buffs aren’t overlapped and they are the exact same 20% damage reduxtion. Tested water buffa as well and that’s 13%
My Steel was probably stronger from the 99 magic investment then, would make sense.

So if you run the enemy out of ki the buffs go away correct? Did it work the same way on the first Nioh? I’m playing through the first one as I await the rest of the DLC to come out and I’m just curious about this as I make my way through Way of the Demon.
if i had dragon dance and active skill damage will they conflict with each other or its ok to have them both
I think its better to combine kingo set 5(p) and benz (6)..since kingo set can roll star active skill ki damage..then you can inherit dragon dance damage on it...just change the headgear into coil snake and kasha into yatsukani..roll zero ki +damage and poisoned enemy +damage into the accessories

Now that you’ve had time with the splitstaff, what’re your overall top 3 weapon types?
Splitstaff, Dual Swords, Tonfa
FightinCowboy Those are my favourites as well. Purity Splitstaff with Water and Lightning Arcana and Fire Tonfa Gun are ridiculous with Versatility plus Imokamei (sp?). Apply Confusion and elements while building stacks with Water debuff, Lightning debuff, Fire debuff and blindness. Get behind with Dragon Dance for Purity and it wrecks almost anything. Can’t remember the name but the L1 + Square in Mid and Low stance (Twin Dragon I think) apply an element in one attack. When they are Blind they flail around and miss half the time and you can face tank with Extraction Talisman plus Life on Amirita.

I am a little late but how do you get attack stat rolled on armor pieces without it being inherited from gloves ?
Also the star rolled stats aren t inheritable right? They are locked onto an item/can t be rolled? And last question, sorry that was quiet a lot.. if you reroll star rolled stat, it doesn t give you another star stat does it?

Do you recommend this build to someone just entering NG+? I love the split staff builds, but I noticed that you started with the mighty monk build, and now have transitioned to this. Is this what you recommend, since the Graces are very time consuming?

If any weapon can work which one for each is best I’ve narrowed it down on the sword to tengu cutter mantra and the purity sword you can craft
Just pick whatever, all weapons are equal at 170 if purity is the base stat
With a 3600 armor and 5200 hp, enemies really often reaping my face in two, or even one hit. 3200 armor and less than 5000 hp can survive some attacks without a serious risk. One question. HOW?!

Is it still worth trying to obtain the items for this build now that save scumming is nerfed? (I'm on pc and it seems to have a fixed loot table so rerolling saves does nothing). Seems like you'd need to craft for ages to get the right set bonus and stats. Thanks for the video btw :)
this is really good, but i think i will keep my kintaro set and improve it, its pretty braindead, tanky and kill things a little slower than this

Just whatever you want. I don't like respeccing them so i go for general shit over onmyo/ninjutsu.
An odachi should be able to fulfill the versatility gauge at decent speed with its stance switch skills right?

I think he 45 seconds on the buff, so you would need to switch occasionally to reapply the buff, but you should be able to spend most to ur time in your preffered stance

Man, I'd love to do something like this but I just don't have the time to sit there for hours on end forging and save scumming to get the correct rolls on the gear. It just seems so tiresome. Maybe if this was the third DLC and I knew there wasn't going to be tiers above divine I'd bother with it, but as it stands I just can't justify the effort. Thanks for showing us what's possible though. Good video.
You do not need to go to such extremes, funnuly enough this is the build I was using since starting DotD since I was focusing on tonfa ki destroying enemies and thought versatility was a fun property, just get the grace and the strategist items no need to wait for it to be stared or have it stared on your yasakani, of course you won't demolish bosses as hard as he is doing but it's extremelly serviceable and has carried me through dotd without too much difficulty, took me maybe half an hour between forging the items and tempering the stats only my weapons have full slots armors just have the base 4/5 slots.

Personally I plan on getting the graces but not trying to fully minmax the build. I want to be strong for DotD and DotW, but I don’t need to be as strong as the game allows to handle DotW
I know your lightning build is old but where would you place it on the meta as if lightning proc its more melee damage than benkei, even if not using katanas its be 4% melee plus 15% on electrified. 19% vs benkeis 15%

Hmm, why go for skill dmg on eq when you can go on melee dmg? Doesnt the latter affect all your attacks?
Because de only way to stack versatility Is to stack with skills, and besides skil dmg has More % than melee dmg... So its a win win
How do you get the graces?
I've been running with 6-piece Benzaiten's Grace for a bit now already, but I wasn't too sure how good the damage buff actually was per stack, so thanks for the spreadsheet estimate at the beginning! No wonder I couldn't make a guess myself, the 9-stack bonus was only slightly better than the Tengen Attack buff before it got nerfed, and I ran that thing a lot before the DLC dropped, so I guess I just couldn't tell difference between them.

So I did some testing and once you get 9 stacks, you can't refresh the duration with another weapon.

Same problem, he has a bunch of toughness inheritables on his armor, that’s probably what’s pushing him to A
Heya, I'm still playing the Confusion Tonfa build, but modified more to how I play, Right now I'm using the Inari set, with Gamo Clan to keep the Consec attacks A, and I mainly use Water as a secondary element (purity is of course main). I almost feel like confusion isn't enough in DotD, I've tried poison with 40% more damage from gear, but getting all that up is a pain in the arse since they fall off sometimes/resistances. -- And jesus... I'm in HUGE need of Ki damage... I ignored it and in DotD and wow the regret - I literally can't beat a human boss(the dude that uses an Odachi and spams omnyo) because I can't get through his Ki even from multiple Demon dances. I was wondering if I could go the Strat set, but keep my original guardian, or would that not be nearly enough? I REALLY love confusion and Tonfas but I feel like I tickle more than anything, and human bosses seem to be a problem currently -- What do you think of a Vers/strat build + confusion? I may try that... Sorry for the rambling! Have a good day!

I'm using the Big Sudama in The Viper mission, by the Shrine near the boss, I've rerolled it more times than I can count and I haven't gotten it

Finally made this build. But the game kept giving me star melee damage instead of active skill damage. Here’s to hoping it’s a good skill and rng didn’t screw me. Lol.
Where did you get Legendary strategist text? I´been lookin for it but everyone´s sayin that Lady osakabe drops it...

The wiki says it was drop by Lady Osakabe, but I remember mine was drop by Shuten-doji.
Can you confirm if having the star effect Active Skill Damage is better than having a specified active skill i.e Moonlight Snow Damage?

Could I potentially do this using the Obsidian Armor set instead of Legendary Strategist, or would it be better to simply use Legendary Strategist?

Your going to want to farm revenants for inheritable skill dmg effects like unruly revolution. The sub mission Dark Omens in the first region on Dream of the Strong is a popular place where people will drop their revenants. There is a discord server where you can ask people to drop pretty much any skill you want. Just search “revenant trading discord” on google.

I wonder, does the Carnage Talisman conflict with Versatile? Also I picked up a pretty nifty demon scroll that has Melee DMG with Increase Attack (Winded Enemy) so I'm gonna have a doozy with this build. Also I don't think you touched on secondary Guardian but could be me.
There isn't any one that's huge here, I like tengen was more anima but just go with what you like
