“Okay this is not everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s my cup of tea, and it’s yummy.” I am going to live by that quote and also that outfit absolutely slays ♥️♥️
Here here! This is such an excellent quote, because you know what? Spending an hour listening to my Sherlock Holmes audiobook while working on my budget spreadsheet may not be everyone's cup of tea... But it's MINE, and it's YUMMY! 🤩
As an amateur seamstress, I call white linings for white skirts a TRUE CRIME. I sew for myself and I always use skin tone linings, looks sooo good. I really love that beige fluffy skirt, I want one now! 😅
Love it! And as a seamstress myself, there is no disrespect in changing a ready to wear garment to elevate it and suit your needs. Nowadays it’s called “up-cycling” and a great way to reduce landfill.
As a seamstress, most of the linings that don't add anything visually are added due to modesty concerns or extra comfort due to the feel of the outer layer. Especially the mini linings in long skirts. If you're not bothered by the item being see through or potentially uncomfortable, or you're going to work around that via styling you can 100% remove these. Most clothing items are not made with an artistic intent behind them anyway and are instead mass produced to be eye catching. If someone put enough thought and love into it looking a certain way it wouldn't have a cheap and unimaginative lining that subtracts from the beauty of the garment.
I prefer to dress modestly because of my Christian faith but the thing is that mini skirt underneath isn't suitable its still too short to be modest so waste of time really. Also even the longest dresses have slits up to the top of the thigh sometimes its like why. I am trying to be a part of society not flash everyone everyday 😂 but oh well now I go buy an extra skirt to buy underneath but it has to match.
@@Bee-ne4qoI love the wear modest clothing because it's just so much more comfortable and practical. I just cannot be bothered pulling at skirt, hoisting up pants, watching how I stand, sit, walk and move all the time. Plus all it does is look silly.
@@jonahandthewolf that'd be a little hard to do effectively since for instance the skirt she has on has a long slit. And the little slip skirt is made out of a different fabric than the main garment. You run the risk of it not laying or draping correctly or even flowing correctly in the wind as you have two different fabric weights. I'm not a seamstress but I crochet and fabric weight and material is so important when it comes to how an item looks, feels, and functions when worn. I think the only way to get around that is to sew the slip directly into the skirt and that really takes away from the function of the pattern in the first place as its meant to be see through.
I just discovered you a few days ago and I can't get enough of your videos. I really like your style, your sense of humour and I found myself saying "Let's do it!" a few times a day. 😂 I always liked vintage clothes, but never really embraced it. You give me the confidence to try it. Keep being you! 😊
I really like how you explained why different parts of the outfit worked or didn't. A lot of the time I'll see someone put together an outfit with pieces I never would have tried together and it looks good but I'm not sure why it looks good. But you saying things like "now it looks top heavy" or explaining why the skirt looks better without it's lining is super helpful. :)
Yes, well said. This little clip had more detail, info and fabulous ways to style clothes then most vids I’ve seen. And how she took a “top heavy” outfit and made it balance and explained what made it finally look balanced and complete.

My mom bought me a designer dress, it was white with pink roses worked into the netting. Very femme. I tore it up the front of the skirt, tied a knot in each side, added a fluffy petticoat and some combat boots and pearls. My mom looked shocked and dismayed. Then she said Wow you look amazing. My stuffy step-dad even agreed. They were cool sometimes.
