I got one in the 90's as a birthday gift. It has a half serrated blade.

I really enjoyed this excellent video, Mark.
My first SAK was a Wenger in the early 1980s as a young boy.
I preferred it to the Spartan I received as a replacement when I inevitably lost my Commander!
I took it everywhere with me and it must have fallen out of my pocket.
I like the 85mm size and carry a Wenger Traveller today, although I worry losing it and often have a Vic Climber to hand instead.

I love that old nail file too, but what I really like is the 2D Phillips they put in that spot sometimes. They should have also put the file on that rather than a picture of how to use a screwdriver. If you need that kind of direction you should probably not be allowed to use a screwdriver.

These can openers are nice. Also great for opening packages, saving the blade.

I just got one with the lobster claw opener and was wondering if it can be used for that. Good to know that’s possible

I’ve always been partial to Wenger even though Vics tend to been more robust and have stronger snap. The early 85mm Wenger knives have a much nicer feel than the later ones, especially the early ones from the 1960’s with the bail. These knives are a real bargain in the SAK collecting world as they sell for relatively little money.

the 70s model nail file, is more like a simple file, which could be used for any light filing of things. the '03 model nail file is really a metal emery board, one can ONLY use for a fingernail. one could not file small bits of metal, wood, etc as w/the vintage model. kudos for the old model being more 'useful' there.

I’ve tried the 1970s one as a light file in the metal is way too soft. It is primarily made the file for your nails and nothing else. Thank you so much for the comment!

@@markcoffman494 hmm. ok. but, I'd certainly like to test it myself to see. but I bet filing something small, like the edges of a key or screw that had sharp edges etc, could be handled w/this tool. or even small wood piece or plastic part. the idea is that it's 'potentially' useful for more than just fingernails, compared to the newer one, which is technically not even a file. would you not agree?

@@markcoffman494 also, where did you find the 70s one? I am looking for one nearly exactly like it, except it has scissors too. I honestly don't know the name though. Traveler? Commander? I'm not certain. perhaps you have some insight?

Wenger award for the most useless stupid design can opener ever! What we're they thinking? I've tried using it and you really have to watch it as it has a habit of folding on you! Wenger came out with a load of useless tools at one point? Their magnifier lense is another bummer!
