they're using the Inception movie concept, hence the moving parts, lopsided structures, lifted road and of course the clock and spinning top. and the rapper is the legendary Bobby who as a trainee already won SMTM3 when he was 18. he ate every stage he's in, he genuinely loves performing so much. actually the whole iKON are top notch performers coz they used to tour so much so they're very comfortable on stage. unlike most kpop groups, they're not too bothered with choreos when on stage, they prefer to vibe with the audience. that's why going to their concert will always be a great experience. i've been to two myself :)
This performance is the best thing that happened in Kingdom. IKON understood the assignment. Also, the guy you liked is BOBBY. You watched his song "U MAD". He is one of, if not, the best rapper in kpop scene. Actually he's well respected way beyond just kpop but as an artist and a hiphop rapper in general. The only idol to win show me the money (rap competition with 10 seasons). IKON are just great performers. Like you said they actually look like they're enjoying the stage. That's a thing that was required in every YG trainee to debut back in the day.
The 'dorara paengi' chorus literally means something like 'spinning top', cmiiw. Also, they were using Inception movie references for the storyline and all the set. Talking about 'having fun on stage'... iKON is the master of that. 😉
This is what I liked about iKON throughout kingdom. They just brought this certain ease-ness and sophistication to the stage, like they are just genuinely having fun while performing. Their stagings are tasteful and just the right amount and they are a group that carries the performance by their presence and not by props or sets.
They did it in their own style and made the song theirselfs I loved it when I first watch ! Their voices are really special yeah I love Jay (the boy you said the beautiful voice) And Bobby is really enjoying the stage while performing (the rapper guy)
The clock is upside down, it showed iKON debuting date 9:15 … September 15. When the episode aired, it was also Chanwoo birthday, hence he’s the first member to appeared... the “stripy stuff” spelled iKON .. each lines representing each members, even though BI is no longer active with iKON, he’s forever with iKON

The part where the lights turned red was Donghyuk/DK's idea. He is their main dancer and also contributes a lot in their choreography. During Kingdom, he also took part in directing all their performances.
iKON is on fire on the stage...their charisma and stage presence when performing is on another level, even just watch them on screen but literally i can feel their energy 🔥 thx for ur reaction i love it ❤
I want to share that I actually spend 5-7 hours on each round just to make a detailed analyze because you really could find a lot of details if you know the lyrics, the story of each group (glad I’m a fan of all of them so that wasn’t hard), and the motivation they came up with the performance. This stage for example, meant a lot to me. They chose a song that was different to iKON’s normal style (which is normally more hip-hop) but then turn it into iKON style. Through the whole performance, they blend the movie Inception’s concepts with 1. Buildings and space being twisted 2. Spinning top means not awaken from the dream. So in the verses, they did it more like Ateez’s original version where it is soft and quiet, but with the scenes being twisted you could tell they are already in the dream. Then the chorus suddenly turned hard-hitting, while they chanted “Wake Up”, “I’m Dreaming”, “Spinning Top” showing how they are struggling to go back to reality. Next it turns into Bobby’s verse, where they use the effect to make the whole scene seems unrealistic and mysterious, with him rapping lyrics like “Dopamine in my brain”, “If it’s a dream, don’t wake me up” showing he is addicted to this dream. And then it’s the last chorus, where everything goes wild, by going between slowing&speeding up, they once again play with the twisted time/space concept while exaggerating the craziness of this dream. And finally the ending shot showing the spinning top, meant that they still couldn’t get out of this dream. The whole performance was a masterpiece, it’s definitely my top3 for that round.
I doubt there is anyone out there that has as much fun as Bobby! It is one of the highlights of their performances in Kingdom, watching for Bobby's face and how excited he is to be there.
iKON always make a song cover feel like their song, they never cover something that comeout the same like "cover".They always make their own verison, thats why it's feel different and amazing
Of course bobby looks happy during that time cos he was about to be a father soon at the time he was performing.. well his child has arrived now and his is married happily..🥰

OMG. You not knowing what the spinning top means is making me feel so damn old cause Inception by iKON was not only a remake for Ateez' song. The whole moving set was referencing Inception, as in the movie. The one with Leonardo DiCaprio... 😭🥲❤️🔥
the entire concept is from Inception the movie - the spinning top which is supposed to tell you whether its reality or if its in your mind only. Inception the movie + Inception the AteeZ Song - remastered. The challenge was to take someone else's song and make it yours.
This show started in 2019 with 'Queendom' (which Mamamoo won), it got a lot of attention so Mnet decided to make a male version called 'Road to Kingdom' so that the winner (which was The Boyz) could go and compete with bigger groups in part 3: 'Kingdom: Legendary War' where the crown went to Stray Kids. In april, Mnet is gonna air the 4th part of the series which will be the female version again; 'Queendom season 2'. Hope this will help you to understand it a bit better now, i looove to watch your kingdom reactions!! What do you think about ikcon not singing the chorus of "inception" until the end? I felt something was "not enough" or "not satisfied". For that matter, I felt rude to the original song. ATEEZ had an avant-garde arrangement, but the song was composed with tremendous respect for the original song. So it was pretty disappointing.
