- On this episode of Mushroom Wonderland we head to the complete opposite side of the world to a place called Visakhapatnam, India- actually to a small village about 45 minutes outside of the city, and we forage wild plants and mushrooms with some helpful locals, girls of an orphanage, who were more than excited to help us out.
This is at an orphanage called 'Children of Faith,' a place that houses 120 kids ranging from 5 years old, to in their 20's. Most of the kids that live here are from very poor villages that do not offer decent education and most are from broken families. This place offers them a good education, meals, housing, and lots of love. This organization runs on donations from people like you, if you would like to contribute to the cause, you can at the link right here..

We were so honored to get to know these kids, especially the main 4 girls in this video, Harika, Enusha, Ramia, and Lakita. We really wish them the best and we know they will go far in life. We also had amazing hosts who fed us the local cuisine and showed us around, and taught us about the local traditions. Anand and Rosie run the orphanage and do a great job of it, the kids love them and all 120 of them call them 'mommy and daddy.' It really is a great thing they have going.
Join us as we walk out near the rice and okra fields to discover what's growing in this area of Mushroom Wonderland!

Hello brother I am harika thank you for post this video
Enusha and Harika are so pretty, intelligent, and kind! What a wonderful experience for you ALL!
It sucks this video is not getting the love it deserves. I think people aren't watching because it's not local, but this video deserves to get some dang traction! Much ❤
Agreed, but I didn't figure it would get a ton of views, but it means a lot to me.
Is says 3 days. It will get shared and get up there.
Oooh, yes! This. Go all over the world and talk with local experts.
Honestly, I don't know why but I've never though of India and mushrooms. Super excited to watch
bruh
I just loved this video Aaron! Thank you so much for filming there and bringing us along with you!
4:03, crazy, those hills look like pyramids! I really loved this video. It brought back a lot of memories of my travels to India. The honking (or horning as they like to call it) is insane! I remember in Delhi we were in a taxi driving by a hospital. There was a road sign that said something like, "Hospital Zone. No Horning" and the driver looked at that sign and laid on the horn. I laughed so hard. What a cool experience for you and your wife. Those kids will remember this forever. So heartwarming.
Such an interesting video. 👍
Nice video. The 'rat bite' flower at 9'00" is a milkweed. They use it for all kinds of decorations here in Thailand. Crown flower (Calotropis gigantea) : Thai name is Dok Rak (ดอกรัก). It means "love flower". No idea why it's called love flower here. LOL
I am giving a donation to the orphanage. What a great video Aaron! Really enjoyed watching.
That water buffalo looked pretty chill, I'm always nervous around big beasts like that.
Cool video, hopefully you get to go back during peak mushroom season some day.
Woah ! what a surprise to see you in our country. It definitly does have a diverse range of environments and cultures! Might be a stretch but if youre doing an India tour might i suggest visiting the North Eastern part. Im from a small town in the state of Meghalaya and mushrooms are a really big part of the ecosystem and the culture here. All in all love the informative and entertaining videos you make !
Thanks so much, it's a beautiful country!
I would guess that the closer you get to the Himalayas, the cooler and wetter the climate, and so northern India, where I've been told more people also are strictly vegetarian, might have more of a mushroom culture. The climate would probably also be more to the liking of people from the Pacific Northwest!
Surprising area of search and beautifully video
Wow you have gone international. Cool video.
Hi brother iam Anusha from children of faith and i wore blue frock in this video
Hi Anusha! Very nice to hear from you! I hope things are going well there, I miss it! Sorry if I spelled your name wrong in the video. I hope you like how the video turned out! New girls were so sweet and helpful!
So glad you visited India. We also use lichen in our food
keep up the good work...
I can imagine how hot & sticky it feels over there!
The climate sounds EXACTLY
like Texas.
It's even worse with the climate change...
I'm in Central Texas, and the humidity in the hot months is always between 65-90%.
(that's normal)
But our temps by themselves these last 2 Summers have been
steady over 100°f,
many weeks at 113° !
With the new norm
usually hitting 106°f.
It's brutal !!!
The mushrooms over here don't usually grow during those hot months. Of coarse, it's not raining during that time either.
Nice going!
I feel like you got pretty lucky to find ANY mushrooms growing in such hot temperatures!
That was pretty cool!
You should've come a bit farther in in the northeast region. A huge mycoecosystem in the northeast
You are so friendly Aaron. I love watching you and I learned a lot from your channel. Just like in India, It is also hot here in Philippines and wild edible mushroom usually pop-up when rainy seasons. Termitomyces are common mushroom here when it rains and it taste good. I love mushrooms and I want to learn more about them. ❤️
That was really cool
Love seeing your channel grow 🔥
Always educational and entertaining content. I would love to see some foraging in Norcal(redwoods) and Maine.
Please come to Nepal too 🇳🇵
Sanguinolenti at 95 degrees 😮🥴
Way to explore other areas than Olympia n Kitsap area in WA! India exploration?! Thank you for this content. In Seattle, along Beacon Hill, it is noticeable that Agaricus species dominate- especially Seattle Parks recreation areas.
just searching for mushrooms hunting in india and found you, watched few of mushroom wonderland videos before 😁
In Europe some people are allergic to some species of Chlorophyllum (e.g rhacodes), so it is very important to differentiate Chlorophyllum and Macrolepiota.
Aaron what brought you and your wife to this orphanage ?
My wife is a philanthropist and I tagged along💕🍄
@@mushroomwonderland1 that is neat. We adopted 7 children plus one homemade. I enjoyed your time walking about with those smart young ladies.
Cubensis in india?
I would imagine so, but I didn't see any.
All the mushrooms are poo lovers..
Mimosa Pubica is the touch sensitive plant
