The was a time when London fans use to support other London clubs when there teams couldn't win it or in a cup final etc. That was the older folk born in the 30's & 40's, 50's. I guess society as a whole has become more jealous and envious so no wants anyone else to win if their team cant. Social media hasnt helped either. There are no Man City fans in London. So no one cares they can win it every year.

The truth is Arsenal has always been the club people love to hate!! Well, well before social media. I think this was twofold, firslty they moved from South of the river to north london. Secondly, they absolutely dominated the 30's winning 5 titles (3 in a row) and 2 FA cups in that decade. That gave them the title of "Bank of England Club" That was the era of their domination. They were by far the most successful London club for years so that always attracts jealousy & hatred nothing to do with the fanbase! I grew in the 80s and it was common knowledge Arsenal is the team people love to hate. This is a historical fact. Only other London club that was anywhere near was Spurs in terms of Trophies won and size of club and fanbase, but they were mainly cups not League titles. Since 2005 when Chelsea had all the money pumped in they become the next biggest London team. Yes they have won 2 CL to Arsenal's 0 but Arsenal still won more League titles, more doubles, more FA cups trophies etc. Hence why they're hated. Hatred passed down from generation to generation.
