📚About Me

I highly recommend Voyage of the Damned. I read it at the beginning of this year (it was my Illumicrate Sub pick for January) and it's so well done! The main character is so funny and so full of heart. The fantasy elements work so well to develop the mystery.
Good to hear! It sounds amazing! I love it when fantasy and mystery work together within a story. It can create some really fun and engaging stories!
AGREED! The Bone Shard Daughter was so good! I've already reread it multiple times. I managed to get an ARC for The Gods Below and started it immediately. Twenty percent done so far and I'm really enjoying it.
Ooo!! That's really exciting news. I can't wait to pick it up! 🥳
Ohhh I loved this list!!! Got my eyes on some books!!!
🥳 Yay! Hope you found some you will love!
@@Danni.Dabbles This year for anticipated releases I have been very disappointed! So maybe the second half is a bit better ahahah
All the cats!! 🥺❤ Listen historical fantasy, fantasy mystery, fantasy horror, science fiction...I'm into them all! Little Thieves is a retelling of the good girl. Cabaret Macabre!!! Woohoo! Okay those two misc books look really interesting! Its the summer of Cats, and I am not mad about it hahaha
I did figure you would enjoy the cats and the genre blends. So many new books so little time. Can we just pause time for a few months so we can catch up. 🤣
I think I ended up adding 4 or 5 books to my TBR. LOL I need to get to reading to make room for them when they come out.
Yes! I love adding reads to TBRs. That is my favorite thing! So many books so little time. What a great problem to have!
Captain Hook’s origin story could be really great if done correctly. The dream book could be fun as well 👀 The girl in the bog is going on my tbr immediately! So many (hopefully) fun books. Thanks for sharing!
I know! I hope it is done well. It has great potential. We will see if they pull it off. The Dallgergut Dream Department Store just sounds weird, so of course I have to try it. You'll have to let me know what you think of The Girl in the Bog! I'm so excited for that one. I hope at least some of these reads are good! Thanks for watching!
A lot of these sound so good. The Sky On Fire, The Soell Shop, A Witches Guide, The Bright Sword, The Vampire of Kings Street, and through the Midnight Door.
Im not sure on the Andrea Stewart book Im not sure of. Bone Shard Daughter was good, but I barely made it through book 2 and never read book 3.
What a list! ❤
Woohoo! Glad you found some that sound entertaining. Hopefully some of them are great reads!
I agree that Bone Shard Daughter was the best book in the first trilogy. I really enjoyed the creepiness in that book and the mystery, which definitely fell flat in the other two books in the series. I did enjoy the overall story however. Hopefully The Sky on Fire impresses us both!
So interested in Andrea Stewart's new book, but need to finish the first trilogy first! I have pre-ordered the Spellshop and am looking forward to reading it - really liked her other books.
I do think that Bone Shard Daughter was the strongest book in her first trilogy, but others disagree. We will see where you land on them. Spellshop looks so cute! I also love that some of the editions have lavender sprayed edges. So pretty! I've only read one book by Sarah Beth Durst and I liked certain elements and didn't like others, so I'm curious to try her out again.
I have the spell shop on my radar even though it’s cozy fantasy 😂 that cover is beautiful though!
Oh no! Maybe this will be the one that turns the tides. You could be a cozy girl... maybe. 🤣
Rainy! 😂 Have you read any of Sarah Beth Durst's non-cozy fantasies?
I’ve already pre-ordered several of these, but you’ve definitely got me interested in many more. So many good books!
Woohoo! My goal in life is to add books to others TBRs (just so mine doesn't seem so long by comparison 🤣). Glad you found some of interest!
Thanks for this, Danni. A lot of them look really interesting, particularly Glass Houses (which sounds like And Then There Were None), The Girl in the Bog, We Solve Murders and The Bright Sword. I DNFed The Voyage of the Damned a few days ago. The premise sounded exciting and original, but the humorous tone didn't work for me and the worldbuilding didn't make a lot of sense. I hope you have a better experience.
I'm not great at keeping up with new releases, but I'm looking forward to the following -
The Examiner by Janice Hallett (mystery, August)
We Used to Live Here by Marcus Kliewer (horror, June)
The Mercy of Gods by James S.A. Corey (sci-fi, August)
I hope you find at least a couple to be good reads! I'll give Voyage of the Damned a try, but thanks for keeping my expectations in check. I have found that I really enjoy Fantasy Mysteries, but a lot of them tend to skim on the fantasy in lieu of the mystery. As a fantasy reader I need the book to have strong fantasy components. We shall see.
Janice Hallet is an author I haven't tried yet, but she is on my list! I added We Used to Live Here to my TBR. Exciting that it is already getting adapted. James S. A. Corey is another author I haven't gotten to. I think I might start with Leviathan Wakes, but I haven't decided yet.
Thanks for bringing attention to the Katrina Monroe! It sounds so interesting!
I have found a couple of books by Monroe recently that I find intriguing. I haven't read anything by them before. I recently found The Graveyard of Lost Children and desperately want to try it out.
oooo The Sky on Fire, The Full Moon Coffee Shop, The Ghost Cat, sound amazing! I can't wait to get to Voyage of the Damned... It's been staring at me from my tbr cart for ageeeessss! T. Kingfisher is kind of awesome! Tom Mead yay!
I hope all of these are amazing reads! We need to plan another buddy read. Perhaps when we both get access to some of these new releases, we could pick one up!
@@Danni.Dabbles I have had good luck reading recs from you overall so I have hope! I already have Voyage of the Damned but none of the others and on a massive ban until I can get my unread books to at least fit onto my cart again 😬
