- Modeling up a Simple Table using SolidWorks Weldments is easy. This video will take you through creating a 3Dsketch, downloading the latest Weldment Profiles off the SW website (via Design Library), adding them to your folder, and then using them to create a simple Table. Trimming and Extending, and End Caps are also shown. Then finishing them off using a Weldments Cuts List, and a Bill of Material.

Fantastic! Incredibly informative. Included a TON of great information, especially the little tricks to coax SW to give you what you want. Love the properties tips for BOM description and getting the auto balloons to switch back to the weldment cut list. Learned some things I never knew. Thank you!!

Thank you! I worked in Solidworks and with weldments for about 2.5 years but not since 2013. I'm trying to refresh myself on it before an interview. This was perfect.
EXCELLENT! You're a natural instructor. Everything we need to know, what to avoid, where to find, how to do, all at the right pace. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for the clarity and especially for not assuming that we're all at an advanced level.
Thank you your just the right speed and concessive direction

Nice job!!!!! Pretty clear explanation!!!!
That was incredibly helpful. cheers!
Very helpful, thanks! I thought I was crazy for putting each leg on a table in a separate group in a Structural Member feature, but it looks like that's how it goes.
Also good to see that eventually you do have to use trim/extend sometimes if corner treatments don't come out right even after trying different settings on individual corner treatments.
Learned about Weldments at a recent SolidWorks User Group meeting. Insanely useful tool for so much more than actual weldments. I think many could be helped by using this feature.
Great tutorial! Thanks!

This looks so much better than inventor. I have only begun learning inventor but I think I wish I had solidworks instead. Can you give any advice about which is better? I have been drawing in AutoCad Mep for 10 years and used Autocad for over 20 years. I'm just looking for a new software to learn and wondered which is better. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks for video.
In my opinion inventor and solidworks are very similar! But in the industries tday they use more solidworks then inventor. Solidworks is much easier to learn then inventor.
When i select the line at 6:51, it creates a plane and then some square like thing, it looks really weird, How do i fix this?
This video has been very helpful to me. I'm building a similar table for my shop. Can you point me in the right direction to model a piece of 1/8" steel for the top? I created a plane on the top surface, but I can't seem to locate the table top to the table since it's on a different plane.

ProgressionSupport,
So I have just installed Solidworks 2016. On my previous version it was easy and simple to use my weldments profiles. I do understand how load your own profiles or any kind.
Now the problem I run into is: When you right click on your tab you see your options: Assemble, Layout, Sketch, Evaluate and so on... And for some reason, and maybe I did something when I first started to use solidworks, it doesn't give me option of adding weldments tab? So I can't use it at all?
Am I supposed to do something in setting to be able to use this feature? Or maybe it's my installation was done wrong?
Please help help!!
Thanks,
awesomeeeeeee. Thanks
Great video, I don't seem to be able to tab the legs to the front plane, am I missing a setting?

I know this is gonna sound like a dumb question, but right after you resized your table.. you clicked your mouse and dragged the table into view. How did you move the camera without changing the angle of your camera. I know this is a dumb question, but I just can't figure it out. thanks in advance.
Thanks
Thanks you ...
hi man nice video but if got solidworks 2016 and when i want too ad the folder into the original folder is difficult because
the folder layout is different how could i fix this
thanks
Thank you, I was drawing 2 hours haha

GREAT
ahh you held down control and the mouse wheel... lol im dumb, great tutorial btw.
i couldn't find the weldments profile folder in the English folder do i have to create one ?
I keep coming back to those basics videos because I STILL don't know how to properly use the software. I'm gonna cry
What is the tap k ? Which one ????? 1:05
About weldments, the only thing I wonder is why it's not available in the assembly?
Inside a part, there's a restriction in reusing each of these profiles in another assembly.
Plus linking with ERP/SAP becomes critical as well.
i hope your successful as well
Can you give the each piece an individual part number?
anyone know where i can download more weldment profiles? i need smaller tubing
