- We are already counting down to the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest in Baku. We do that by looking back to recent editions of Europe's favorite TV show. This time we go to 2006, when the contest was held in Athens, Greece.
Lordi represented Finland in the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest with the song 'Hard Rock Hallelujah'. They won the grand final in Athens and brought the contest to Helsinki in 2007. - Zábava

Their microphones are not plugged in, but Mr Lordi’s. The background singing comes from the monk to the right as stand in, as per rule book all singing has to be performed live at ESC. Typically the background voice heard is the Drummer’s, at least up until his departure from the band in the 2010s.

The thing that often goes unsaid about this is that, despite it causing confusion at the time, the song is literally one of the most fitting songs ever performed at Eurovision. Instead of being some unrelated love ballad its whole premise is about how music can bring people (or demons and angels) together and put differences aside. That's the whole premise on which this contest was founded.

It felt so good to know some other country had sent something so much crazier than the thing your countrymen saw as too crazy not to win. They deserved the victory. @@Maltinis You would think it's a woman's voice, but no, that is a man's voice, and that man is Pasi Rantanen. He can sing very high notes. Mr. Lordi has revealed this fact about the vocals yeaaaaars ago in some interview or documentary (not sure which, because, like I said, it was years ago). It is only natural to assume that the vocals come from Awa (the female keyboard player) because the camera work emphasises that assumption through filming her whenever these backing vocals appear but yeah that was part of the show as well :) Just wanted to set the record straight.

In Finland metal is a big part of our culture, it's in litteraly everything. Knitting metal is very popular and we have a childrens show called heavysaurus about a band of metal playing dinosaurs.
Heavysaurus (or Hevisaurus) is at this point a international brand, it started from Finland but now theres a heavy Saurus band in Germany and for Spanish audiance too.

In the semi-final that was the Netherlands, they finished 20th out of 23 countries and did not qualify for the final. In the final Ukraine was performing after Finland, but they did pretty good, finishing 7th out of 24 countries.
