Hearing this song after knowing her son died is gut wrenching. No matter what her cause of death, she died of a broken heart.

HOLY SHIT!! Ive been listening to this since 1990 and this live version is both ASTOUNDING and BREATH TAKING. Thank you SO MUCH for this! Her music was blacklisted in the U.S. (old news I guess) since her speaking out against the Catholic institution and until today I've never heard this particular performance. THIS is the best ❤💛💚💙💜🤎🖤
I love her version of this song it is more heartfelt especially because she was pouring out her feeling toward her abusive mom after she passed away. This is why Sinead fought hard to put on blast Child Abusers (Her dad also had part in her abuse). She had such a horrible childhood in the hands of very abusive parents. RIP Sweet Angel 😥🙏🦋♥

She was a true beautiful person with an amazing voice. It's a shame that her standing up for her values and opinion on American TV that quieted her career over here. It seems like her life was sad after that and losing her son I think was the last thing that broke her. She is at peace now 🙏🏼❤️

Prince wrote this song about a breakup in a relationship, plus (according to his sound engineer) the paragraph about "the flowers you planted, mamma, they all died when you went away", he dedicated it to his housekeeper (who he had been gone for a few days). Sinead literally assumes the word "mamma" to dedicate the song to his own mother. That's why she sheds a tear (in the video) when she sings that part.
I'll never forgive SNL for what they did yes she ripped tye popes picture but she did it for a true reason for abuses that were happening in the Catholic Church and also which she was a victim herself but they tore her down but she still fought on until her son passed thats what finished Sinéad rest in peace sinead to.good for tye world to.good for us here in ireland well ahead of her time now nothing will ever compare to her rest In power Irelands wildsongbird 😢🇮🇪😪

I really think this song IS hers. For Prince it's a song about lost love - But Sinead turned it into a song about her mother who was abusive and the love that is always there from a child to a parent. Thus it became another song that became Sinead's song

I was a huge Sinéad O'Connor fan. Even called my beautiful Siamese cat after this beautiful woman.

this song was ok for me, i was 22 m y mom said to me,,why she is crying'? i told her she lost her mom and now she is singing aobut her,, 2 years after my mom died and now listening to this take me to that moment with my mom watching the video of sinead, and i realized how sinead felt , thanks for sharing

This is the only song I know from her and I also don't know that she had some huge troubles in her career, but I think also in private life. So I cannot really speak about her.
