Yeah, that's true...
Exhibit A: Callum Ilott
Not sure it’s a case of “your dream”, but rather “their parents dream”.

A million on Karting is a big stretch. I raced along side my sister here in the states running clay ovals for the better part of 20 years. Running in high level competition for 10 of those years we estimated roughly 250k. Dirt tires are much more expensive than pavement to run competitively
Slicks wear out incredibly quick though
No where near that for karting I had sponsors when I was racing didn’t cost us a penny.
@@Butch1086 it still costs a hell of a lot to start, which is what the major issue is. You don’t have the money to start then you’ll never get anywhere near F1. It’s stupid and ridiculous but there’s nothing that can be done about it because it’s run by self entitled rich guys who don’t care about anything other than money. It’s always going to cost a small fortune to start karting no matter what. So it still actually costed you money.
But that’s always been F1/Moto gp rich persons play ground. You can’t really compare it to other sports.

My brother was an amazing karting driver, if not one of the best I’ve ever seen. Sadly we couldn’t afford to go on since it cost so much money so he had to stop racing. It just goes to show that there are so many talented drivers that nobody knows about because they don’t have the money for it.

Lol, some f1 drivers pay to drive
The number of pay-drivers is insane Zhou, Mazepin (though he has now been removed), Latifi, Stroll (whose dad spent $80 to get him a seat at William - more than he will probably earn). When he joined Perez was even a pay driver alongside Sainz ( though both through sponsors). 1/4 got there cause to some degree… they had the money backing them. Recent drivers also include Magnussen and Ericsson. With Lauda and M. Schumacher first getting on the grid due to financial backing.

I personally do high tier go karting in the uk and you can do lots of stuff for just 20-40k a year but some people go to extremes and spend 400-500k
Stats need to be taken with a pinch of salt. Especially in Karting and F4, cost of drives varies significantly based on the championship and the team. Same applies in F3/F2 but more so do with the team
Stroll: hmmm that’s cheap
Maybe for Latifi but it's less normally and don't forget sponsors
Yeah, sponsors can really help you through!
That if you're extremely good, but if you're latifi or mazepin level, well... Good luck

N. De Vries: 'Is too much, im gonna go in Formula E.

Never realized f4 was cheaper than karting. Obviously a lot of drivers get sponsors and cars
Karting is like $10-30k
International level is about $100,000 a year
$30k per year in national/regional levels
This is general pricing.
Karting costs around a million if you constantly compete in the FIA world championship for 8-10 years straight. There's cheaper version that can keep you in the 10-20 thousand bands
F4 again doesn't cost that much. Only like the FIA Italian f4 championship costs big time but that's still around 100-120 k.
FIA f3 costs around 450k for a good team.
F2 was kinda spot on.
Winning the European championship in one season costs 500k btw… Winning German F4 is about 500k 2 so, what about F3 dude?
This varies from teams and championships, the pay and cost varies
There is no actual price you can get in for free it takes time effort and talent money does help but most championships can provide a cart
Lance:🤷
But well if you good at it the money will comeback more than that
Exactly
Ocon have 2-3 millions when he drive for bwt racing point... So it's impossible for him to be a F1 driver and have bigger to pay than to be paid to be an F1 driver..
Hamilton was rich. His dad did have two jobs but still managed to build that money up from that which any normal working class family won’t be able to afford. He wasn’t as rich as say Latifi, Stroll, Norris etc but was still a lot more wealthy than the average family.
Schumi made it☺️
Don't forget all of the traveling required and purchasing parts to repair a kart or whatnot
Yeah
Karting is less than a million
I'm wondering how karting is more expensive then f4?
To start karting you dont need more the 15k
To start, but to make the jump to actual formulas, you need around 1mil
@@TheRacingdome surely the money to make the jump would be included with the formula 4 money then?
Most drivers don’t get in cause they paid for all season most are just talented
Yeah
Uhm... Albon did pay as example. Only F2 was almost free for him.
Lattifi : Pfffft *I destroy that every race*
I think i'll stick to simulators......
F1 should make another series no money is required but talent only.
@Tearjerker no
But you don’t need to pay it by yourself because the team and sponsors will pay for you
You surely won't have to pay for it entirely, unless your dad is freaking Lawrence Stroll and he can afford it
1b if your name is Nikita
you need 6.000.000 to start but also a lot of talent and luck
Exactly!
Karting 1 million? are you serious karting is my dream and it cost a all life savings damn bro.
Schumi driving on others dead tyres
You don’t need karting to become f1 driver, but in karting you can find sponsors
Going to F4 straight away is possible, but not recommended
1M? Nah I'm being a f1 driver
They get sponsors almost like a loan unless your daddy’s money then when they get to f1 they pay them back
So you have to pay more with karts than with F4?
Thats why there are sponsors and so on
Yeah
that's if you get promoted so fast. but what if you end up in multiple seasons. that's pretty bad haha
The thing is the more sponsers u got from karting the easier it wil be
Yup
I am driving go karts in Slovakia and it isnt so expensive about 1000€ per race
Keep in mind that those 1mill is all the seasons you spend in karting before making it to F4
Yea that's the longest possible route, you don't have to do everything on that list, if your good enough, your good enough
Max Verstappen moment
why is f4 cheaper than karting?
You need to switch f4 and karting I kart nationally and it does not cost that much
karting internationally is expensive, and the costs include all seasons before you take the step to formulas
This is for latifi and mazepin but not for good drivers(there are still a few exceptions like Nando)
British Formula 4 starts from about £25k per season, if you take the $400k given from the video and convert it to gbp, it’s about £325k, which would get you about 13 seasons of formula 4 without any sponsorship. For reference, Lando Norris won the 2015 British formula 4 championship, and if he paid that much all for formula 4, he’d still be racing in formula 4, and would be for another 7 seasons including this year.
Well £25k is for those who are actually wanted by the team, if you’re decent but not what the teams looking for you have to pay a hefty amount more for obvious reasons, same in F1 if they don’t want you you’re paying them instead of them paying you hence Lance strolls lovely £80 million check to Williams a few years ago
You will never race in F4 with 25K. That’s about one race weekend.
How do you get that F1 text font?
It's available on Google!
Why was I a middle class boy smiling through all of this especially when f1 price came
How do you make that f1 looking text
The font is available on Google!
And then there is randoms like me, happy to spend 50/60 bucks to do about 40min of electric karting.
1 million for karting is way off! At this rate I will have spent about $13,000 for a top of the line kart. I will have spent about $2,000 for safety equipment. And about $2,000 on parts per years.
What is your editing app?
Premiere Pro
And that is if you are a good driver, if your not then be preparing 20 million at least
If you're really good you'd actually spend less than this, driving less in F3 and F2
It is a lot less cheaper that it would seem
The FIA karting world championship is like 1 mil, not normal comps
My dream is to be an f1 driver but my mum says it's a 10 percent chance of getting first of all money second I'm not that good at karting
depending on what karting you do. it shouldnt cost 1 million dollars. atleast i think 😂
Why is Karting 1m and f4 400k?
Way to much money, I wanted to be an f1 driver but and I don’t have that kind of money, so much talents who are forgotten
i am a kart driver and i got into teams because i was good without paying for any stuff except for tyre checks and stuff
If you have talent, you won't need to pay much. If you don't, you gotta hope your dad is Stroll or something
You forgot about FRECA or Euroformula, that's an extra 500k-ish or more
