When he joined Perez was even a pay driver alongside Sainz ( though both through sponsors). 1/4 got there cause to some degree… they had the money backing them. Recent drivers also include Magnussen and Ericsson. With Lauda and M. Schumacher first getting on the grid due to financial backing.

    British Formula 4 starts from about £25k per season, if you take the $400k given from the video and convert it to gbp, it’s about £325k, which would get you about 13 seasons of formula 4 without any sponsorship. For reference, Lando Norris won the 2015 British formula 4 championship, and if he paid that much all for formula 4, he’d still be racing in formula 4, and would be for another 7 seasons including this year.

    • @DiabolicalBiscuit
      @DiabolicalBiscuit Před 2 lety +1

      Well £25k is for those who are actually wanted by the team, if you’re decent but not what the teams looking for you have to pay a hefty amount more for obvious reasons, same in F1 if they don’t want you you’re paying them instead of them paying you hence Lance strolls lovely £80 million check to Williams a few years ago

    • @titussherlock811
      @titussherlock811 Před 2 lety +2

    1 million for karting is way off! At this rate I will have spent about $13,000 for a top of the line kart. I will have spent about $2,000 for safety equipment. And about $2,000 on parts per years.

      A really promising driver who had to LEAVE motorsport because of the lack of sponsors was Dani Clos. He did EXTREMELY well in GP2 (4th or 3rd I don't remember) against drivers such as Grosjean. He was reserve driver at Williams, then joined the HRT team as a test driver, even driving with them in Brazil for a few laps in rain.
      He opened a CZcams channel when he had to stop driving, and has recently started driving again!
