Most people I've talked to are pretty receptive to being corrected on someone's pronouns, but I hang around with a very inclusive crowd. The ones that push back on gender issues are usually deep down the conservative silo and almost impossible to reason with.
I think we must move with people! I could see hearing pronouns from other people as being a great way to see how they make you feel. If it changes things for them then I will change too, I don’t mind
It is unfortunate that your coworker was like that. I hate how there is this perception that we are deviants who have alterior motives. It saddens me to know that many people see us that way. I get a lot of similar comments on my content as well. Actually no, I am really just trying to use the bathroom to go pee. No, I am not trying to hurt women in sports or elsewhere, I have a huge respect for women. Not everyone is like that though and I feel that most people don't think that way anymore, but it is hard to know for sure.
I found the story you were talking about at work in the beginning of the video very interesting. I would agree with the man though, if you believe someone is practicing deceptive behavior were you to entertain or affirm that you would just be an accomplice if I may, in that deceptive behavior. But we know that deception in its self is wrong, you believe their is deceptive and evil rhetoric against trans people, but what is your standard of truth that you can measure and say this is a lie. Is it your own truth or a societal truth? Or perhaps your standard comes from somewhere else. Secondly though very controversial Martin Luther’s “On the Jews and their lies” was meant to be a theological justification on why they are wrong about Christ and the falsehoods they presume and espouse about him. Though things said in it can sound very outlandish and even antisemitic it’s really a theological argument against the Jewish premise on Christ. I found your video very interesting and I think you are a very smart individual and I would love to hear your thoughts. Thank you have a blessed day!
Thanks for adding more context to the Martin Luther text. Perhaps like so many things it’s a treatise that has been twisted and turned into a weapon of sorts - and such things can need double-edged swords! I am aware that I am only able to present my own version of the ‘truth’ and that is all I can do. I know my reality of what it means to be transgender, and so I apply that same template to other (fellow?) trans people. I trust they are as truthful about their realities as I am. Maybe that does leave me open to being deceived. But I suppose there’s a degree of needing to know that there are more like me out there. Funnily enough, I was just reading the short story ‘the truth of fact, the truth of feeling’ by Ted Chiang just now, which touches on the idea that there is being ‘right in ‘act’, and ‘right in feeling’, and that the two are equally important or correct. I recorded this video several weeks ago, but maybe after reading this story I might have included this idea somewhere in there. Ahh well. Idea for the next one 😄 Have a great weekend, Andy ✌️❤️☺️
