Get the cheapest dehumidifier you can find and use that in there. That will draw a tiny amount of power, but accelerate your dry times tremendously. Also, a very small fan to circulate the air in there will help also. Super small investment to greatly improve your results.

Yes we have a small low-power type dehumidifier we are putting in. Still looking for a good isoscillating fan that doesn't use too much power adding in too many items defeats the purpose as it'll lower your income cuz you're using more electric. Results video will be out soon but we already have a load of hickory in there now and it's already starting to crack up

I like your wood drying idea now with the furnace shed. It could get better by sealing any air leaks first then maybe insulating better. I just subscribed today after watching your freezer kiln video. I bought at an auction for less than $20 bought a commercial all stainless steel fridge/proofer with two large insulated walk in glass doors. Basically you can roll in two bread racks and it controls the temperature rise for bread ect.. It doesn't work although I thought that it would make a perfect south facing solar firewood kiln to dry my firewood even in winter. And I already have rolling food tray racks so I wouldn't have to handle the wood too many times. I've been scouring CZcams for solar kiln videos today also.

Actually we just finished the run on this. Results video coming soon but it worked very well. The truth is I think you're right add more insulation. But I actually think we need an escape fan for when the humidity gets too high in the beginning. A simple hole is good but if you go watch oak farm firewood he has a fan exit port to remove humidity faster. We will build a solar kiln this spring to drop red oak in. Thanks for subscribing
