Just took a look, Back to Backspace was uploaded at 30fps instead of 24, so what you get is frame blending, not compression artifacts.
They probably tried to convert it for CZcams and didn't look at the framerate setting, but if they have the original files it shouldn't be too hard to fix.
RebelTaxi every time I see how long ago your videos where posted I imagine the dead pool god your old clip I still remember when they where first posted
RebelTaxi finally
"Nickelodeon were afraid of the possibility of over-saturation"
HA... oh, that's sad...
Chewable Arsenic Candies yeah with dont want to oversaturate a genre ( launchs infinite sitcoms about teenagers wich are basically the same )
They probably wanted to dominate animation instead of following the trend of bad live action sitcoms.
Nick is always known for taste.
HellRay yeah.....taste.. ( remembers mighty b, breadwinners and fanboy and chum chum)
Chewable Arsenic Candies it really is
your username sounds like it could be a cartoon js
I don't see Spongebob as an adult or a kid
I mean sure, call him a kid, a wingnut, a knucklehead McSpazitron. But most importantly he's... he's.. *HE'S...*
*_A GOOFY GOOBER!_*
AWildNintenerd YYYYEAAA
Veteran Nintenerd I'M GOOFY GOOBER ROCK!
Yes, but is it the Japanese dub? Because if it isn't, it's strictly worse.
*ROCK*
i met dante two years back at comic con, drew him a picture of kitty bobo to sign and he was ecstatic to see that someone remembered his first role! it really shows how forgotten some of these pilots are to most people, but to a few, they are pretty damn remembered
Oh wow, I didn't know that was his first role.
Or I guess First Animated role. He did Live Action before.
Kitty Bobo and Utica Cartoon were my favorite pilots of that round.
To be fair, it’s it first major animated role. I remember him playing that one nerd who cat called Stacy in A Goofy Movie.
Becky Prim looks like a riot, I really hope it gets picked up
I dunno...now that I'm in my mid 20s, I am just so over anything to do with high school.
eartianwerewolf
I am too, but something about Becky Prim intrigues me. I too hope it gets picked up.
I bet if it got a show their would be a goth girl
Same!! I dunno the animatic gives me *Heathers* vibes. I could totally see Veronica as Becky Prim, and Heather Chandler as the preppy girl.
Becky Prim I feel, follows the same path many years prior that VivziePop would later do with Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss. Love these videos from Pan who is my friend, spreading attention to more nostalgic and memorable pieces of media!
"Too many people not enough bullets"
That's going to be my senior quote
I don't know if that'll bode too well for you, my friend.
My senior quote will be "From now on I am Señor Senior Senior!"
That's going to be my graduation quote
Alcendence l
My senior quote is going to be, "I'm surrounded by idiots." from the Lion King.
Kitty Bobo was the shit and I remember being disappointed that it lost to KND. But KND ended up being amazing, so...
I've never seen KND but the art style looks amazing...
@@emceemunchapussy1891 You're really never watch KND, and you should start watching now.
I literally jumped out of my seat when I saw Becky Prim! My animation teachers son is the one who created that!!!! She showed us his animatics and artwork in class. You can see his professional work in the show Bunnicula. He is one of the story board artists and I think he wrote one of the episodes about filming funny animal videos
omg ur animation teacher is a hadrika?!
WHAT SCHOOL IS THIS
+A Jar of Nutella yeah! I go to UCF.
thank you!
Xen too bad Bunnicula isn't aired that often, is everything okay there?
Bunnicula... is that based off of a book? I remember reading a book with that name, but I've never seen any show like that. I might check it out.
Man, the 2000's were obsessed with high school, or at least feels like it.
Now the 2010's are obsessed with kids.
80s-2000s really. I guess the people who grew up in hat time realized that highschool was kinda shit and decided to not focus on it anymore.
i was a kid when they focused on high school and now im a adult when they focus on kids god dammit
***** I'm not wrong am I? ;)
Yeah , I think different decades are nostalgic for different periods of their life. I wouldn't be surprised with as many people going to college as there are now if there are much more shows centering around college than there used to be (may not cartoons, but definitively shows in general).
Fucked up the intro somehwere. don't ask where
RebelTaxi the modyfiers swapped with kilgore the barbarian
You done fucked up
RebelTaxi talk about the samurai jack season 5 trailerrrr
RebelTaxi are you sure you fucked up?
0:17 This is not The Modifyers. That's where you fucked up the intro.
"I dont know why but any sort of urban city cartoon seems to never last long despite how chill they are" mate, did you forget about Hey Arnold!?, it last for like 7 years lol
Jotaro Kujo Yeah, I was about to bring that up. Sucks it's the only one that had a good run.
Airsh Bornely you got a point there :(
Airsh Bornely Right and I like the feel and vibe of Mission Hill.
You forgot the Nutshack.
DragonGodMillionare we don't talk about the Nutshack...
The Kitty Bobo has a really charming artstyle, i would like to see more of it
Me too, I love Dante Basco as Kitty Bobo and the art style is oddly soothing
Agreed, it feels so mid 90s with some 70's Hanna Barbera thrown in
Kitty Bobo seems like it would be a good show, but pitted against Kid's Next Door... that hardly seems fair for any show, lol.
Zadamanim Especially because KND had really fit with CN's demographic at the time. If Kitty Bobo had come out in 2010, it might have had a chance.
Kitty bobo just looks boring to me.
eartianwerewolf it's okay. I watched it a few years back
Why?
@@eartianwerewolf i agree, the whole episode was about the main character just acting pretentiously because he got a cell phone.
Holy shit that old Pan Pizza intro music
Elektro Shokk what song is it?
Carbon_Fear "LCD Soundsystem" by Talkshow Boy
asiabrown99 i believe it's the other way around
asiabrown99 it's actually "Lcd Soundsystem is Locked Under the Stairs and Forcefed Methadone at My House"
clearly a reference to the LCD Soundsystem song "daft punk is playing at my house"
Elektro Shokk it's cool whenever he uses Reigning Fire
I just wanna Kitty Bobo, he's the cutest
I see you at least 1 time a year.
Forget it already. Even Kitty Bobo win the big pick 2001, it will have just one season and very less episodes, and the fate will be like Mike, Lu & Og, Sheep in the Big City, Time Squad, Evil Con Carne and Robot Jones.
But KND had six seasons and a movie, and you should be happy with it.
@@ChristHoon If it isnt the man child from that one video. Keep your opinions to yourself rather then just ruining stuff for others. You disgust me.
I loved the art stlye for kitty bobo like that is my aesthetic
i honestly really love kitty bobo. the characters, the art, the general vibe that it gives off.. i really wish CN would bring the big pick weekend stuff back, especially with the access viewers have nowadays with the internet and all.
Except a majority of people don't have cable anymore, so it won't work too well.
@@BassGal92 exactly,bc everything is basically streamed online now, something I don't like about this newer generation. Back in the beginning of the 2000's were lit! Just wasn't old enough to use a computer as I was only 4/5 years old at the time 😂
I doubt Cartoon Network would ever consider Kitty Bobo, considering they HATED Regular Show. Seriously, there was NO marathon of Regular Show before its SERIES finale, and there was little to no hype from the network itself for the finale.
Yah they are neglecting Regular Show while giving Teen Titans Go another 8 hour long marathon
Stephen Brown I dunno, there was a time where Cartoon Network was good to Regular Show. I think they were done because it probably tanked in ratings. If Kitty Bobo could get a following, I think it could work out. Though I doubt it would. A show like Kitty Bobo is kinda meant to remain a pilot, I think it's chance to be a show is long gone
Stephen Brown It honestly feels like they are neglecting ALL their shows. I don't think I've seen a single commercial for the newest steven universe event. I haven't even seen a new commercial for fucking TTG which may sound good and all, but it's pretty fucking suspicious that they aren't even advertising one of their biggest money makers on the network.
Abyssmo maybe whoever is now in charge of advertisement sucks at their job
Hmm, CN thinks of itself as mainly-for-kids TV channel that shows animation, and they would've cut the ties with Regular Show early on but they probably couldn't let another show go like that in a way the other shows get cancelled early on because... things. Whether there are no toys to it or some other shazam. At least they might've seen something in Regular Show as it rolls into CN adverts, had their own emoticons being broadcasted throughout, and is probably seen as cartoon where main characters are having fun and thought that kids like having fun also, so... yeah?
It should be mentioned that after the "pilot", Crash Nebula was not mentioned again in The Fairly Oddparents.
Spyro You name is Spyro, yet your profile picture is Rayman. Seems legit.
“You don’t need good animation to make a good cartoon. You can compensate Witt your other skill sets.” This is a great piece of advice that I really needed
That Crash Nebula concept sounds odd, It's essentially a clone of Galaxy High.
... but with SUPERHEROES!
If you had seen it it definitely was a bit to me. I never knew at the time it was supposed to be a TV series tho.
Korgoth was labeled as Modifyers. Good job, Pan.
They're basically the same show.
You mean that tentacle porn flash ;)
Modified my outlook on life.
Shhhh don't question it.
I think one of the strongest things about the Kitty Bobo pilot is its *aesthetic.* Just, the look of that show, from the character designs to the backgrounds to the colour design, could have been absolutely fantastic.
Kitty Bobo really was like the spiritual predecessor to RS, but minus all the (sometimes) annoying dude-bro humor and surreal situations. It was actually pretty ahead of its time. I could see it as a modern TVPG show on CN.
Mr. Sprinkles should make a cameo in Season 3 of Rick and Morty.
What about *sHREK?*
This aged poorly
4 years later.
Still using the same intro dialogue for these.
God dammit Pan.
It's the same dialog, but I rerecorded it. If you look up the Pilots, the way I narrate has completely changed.
PKDeluxe LCD is pretty good m80
Yeah, I've noticed that. Nice to see the changes over the years with these videos.
damn
Hmm. Kitty bobo seems pretty damn good, bad timing as it of course wouldn't stand a chance against kids next door.
ikr. Also against Billy & Mandy, MegasXLR. Lots of favorites during that time period.
Wait, didn't Sheep in the Big City win the Big Pick instead of Megas XLR? As far as my memory goes, Megas XLR never won no thing, but apparently it did become a show, probably because at that time, Downtown got cancelled on MTV so the Downtown crew switched back to CN to pursue their old dreams and stuff?
Dan Vs was totally underappreciated and I would have loved for it to have continued after season 3.
Oh man, Kitty Bobo. My friend Dave and I used to quote this one single episode over and over and over, even as it faded into obscurity and nobody else had any idea what we were talking about. I was in fifth grade when it aired, and when I finally saw it again 15 years later I could still remember almost every line.
I was so bitter when it lost to KND. I still am.
I need a Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy show!
Ricardo Rocha the voice actor for mermaid man died tho
Justin7885 Young Mermaid Man then.
EEEEEVIIIIILLLL!
*+Justin7885* Nick got a replacement for Borgnine (Joe Whyte) for the more recent _Spongebob_ video games, so they could reasonably use the Part 4 Joseph Joestar version of Mermaid Man.
game4brains 123 Will Mermaid Man be able to use hamon?
Oh man, I really wanted Crash Nebula to be a series....
Remember kids, Don't text and bicycle.
That's why KND won the 2001 big pick.
Honestly, if I were creating a cartoon, I'd probably really want to make it one in an urban environment like Kitty Bobo or Mission Hill. Those shows always seem to have a super chill atmosphere about them, like you're just hanging out with a group of interesting people doing their own thing.
Speaking of Dan Vs., I've noticed a bunch of original shows that were on The Hub are pretty underrated in and of themselves and I think it would be nice to take a look back and possibly do a review of some of them.
MegaMicah12 i blame my little pony for that
MegaMicah12 Yeah, wasn't Transformers Prime good?
Unfortunately most of those shows lived and died because of MLP. MLP kept the network up long enough to give the shows a chance to gain an audience, but stole said audiences from them. They were pretty much screwed from the start simply because they were on The Hub.
I like watching the Haunting Hour on the hub and thought it was pretty dark for a kids show
There was some anime-inspired fantasy adventure show on there that I can’t for the life of me remember the name of. I specifically remember one episode where they were being chased through a desert, realized they were about to wander into the territory of a sand worm of something, so they back tracked their steps, his using a cloak of invisibility, and let the guys who were chasing them get eaten instead. That’s like the only thing I remember from it.
i really wanted that crash nebula show to happen. danny phantom was great but that pilot was great.
MrDotious It'd be great for James Arnold Taylor to be known for a cartoon that isn't Johnny Test.
NintenDex Well. if you really see a series were James Arnold Taylor plays a space travaling hero go play the ratchet and clank games.
Nathaniel Foga Huh, you know I never played a Ratchet and Clank game yet I somehow never realized that was him in those games.
***** So it can a pretty awesome alternative to watching a crash nebula show.
NintenDex What about Star Wars: the Clone Wars? He voices Obi-Wan in that series, both the 2003 and 2008 versions.
They did make a _Population Control Johnny_ movie.
It was called _Avengers: Infinity War._
"Hey look at me, I'm Mr. Sprinkles!"
*calls the police
Some of those cats in that Kitty Bobo pilot look like good R34 material, bro.
EatitHarvey Furry much?
*Yes*
EatitHarvey STOP
No keep going. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Only some? Now that's restraint.
Last time I was this early Clerks Animated still had a chance
I want to see The Scary Door from Futurama. Who wouldn't like The Twilight Zone, but completely insane?
You bet I'd be entering the vicinity of an area adjacent to a location every week to see that.
I really liked the crash nebula pilot
YES!!! Great that you could finally bring up Kitty Bobo in your failed pilots list!
I would definitely watch a series of it if given the chance, alongside that Becky Prim one too.
A friend linked me to the pilot of Kitty Bobo last year and I thought it could've been a great but definitely short-lived cartoon. The art style screams 2001 but I really liked it lol And Bobo looked like he'd be a really likeable character and his friends seemed interesting. I agree that it definitely has that Downtown/Mission Hill feel to it, only for ya know, kids and stuff lol I'd love to see the show get picked up or at the very least, get a short web animated series.
Becky's Prim looks pretty fun too. Nice use of the Daria theme song for the background lol
"the grim adventures of the knd" had a cross over that included grim adventures and the kidsnext door. it also had references about ed edd and eddy, fosters home, and the powerpuff girls.
That crossover mostly sucked, but the references to others shows from Cartoon Network were nice
Kitty Bobo would probably feel right at home by now, due to all these chill comedies on Cartoon Network these days, like We Bare Bears.
I realllllly want Backspace to be a show. Seriously.
they should make an itchy and scratchy tv show
Some Guy you stole my idea
Some Guy you mean happy tree Friends
So basically rated R Tom and Jerry
You mean Herman and Katnip
According to a commentary track on a Simpsons DVD, the creator of The Simpsons said that he decided one day to make a pilot for an Itchy and Scratchy cartoon, and he made the pilot by putting many shorts from the show together into a 22-minute episode. He got bored with it because he realized that you couldn't stretch out the premise of one short to fit 22 minutes without changing the premise drastically.
I remember Matt Groening wanted to create a live action Krusty Show
Me and my cousin use to roast each other and say we "look like the monkey with the tiny cellphone from kitty bobo" lol. We were so young and the show only aired once I believe and then one more time on Cartoon network like around 5 to 10 years later (maybe it was another attempt to get recognized since the first time it had huge competition like Kids next door). Sadly nothing came from it and it disappeared forever. I'm surprised I'm not the only one who still remembers that show. Watching it as a kid you think nothing of why it only showed one episode then vanished, then become older and realize the sad truth.
It's the same for (Whatever Happened To Robot Jones). I remember clearly the episode when robot Jones had to get in the shower at school after gym class and it showed him come out looking like a rusted skeleton with his wires hanging out. It scared the living shit out of me and my brother and sister, only to find out it was just a nightmare. I even rememeber when his voice changed, didnt know it was because the voice actor was different. that was when I was around 10 or 11 years old, I'm 27 now and even my girlfriend remembers bits and pieces of that show. She remembers the girl he liked because she had a metal cage around her head that was attached to her braces so he thought she was a robot like him lmao.
It's kind of scary and sad when you see a cartoon with a name like that and then say to yourself years later......"What Ever Happened To Robot Jones?"
Since when did Korgath appeared in The Modifiers?
I noticed that, too lol
Probably an error
I wanna see a real Troy and Abed in the Morning show
Shut up KingClod. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
i just want Infinity Train to get greenlit :^(
Cool.
Cool cool cool.
I really want Kitty Bobo on TV, or at least be a web comic. I'd watch/read the shit out of it
Going back to old Pan videos is surreal cause the quality is always so consistent
Kitty bobo would be a great show.
I got hit with some heavy nostalgia when you mentioned Kitty Bobo. I have a vague memory of watching a cartoon with a cat talking on his cellphone while riding a train. I also remember that I was watching Cartoon Network some time at night, and I was sitting really close to the little TV in my bedroom. For years, the name of that cartoon had escaped me. Thank you so much for including Kitty Bobo on this list! That's one more gap in my childhood memories that I can finally say is patched.
Cartoon Network (Nick and Disney Channel while we are at it) should bring back the Big Pick Weekend format of promoting and showcasing their pilots to determine what their viewers want in a new series.
There's a lot of interesting animations in Tumblr that looks like it has potential of becoming a series.
I'd love to see an actual Mermaid Man & Barnacle Boy show actually.
A show within a show made reality? I'd have to go with whatever that Monsignor Martinez show was on King of the hill. It looked pretty insane from the glimpses we got, plus I'd love to see how Mike Judge would handle a more action orientated cartoon.
Lucetube GPlusStillSux Isn't that the telenovela with gun-toting nuns?
Yes! I'd love to at least see a pilot episode of that made real.
Lucetube GPlusStillSux Oh how could I dare forget the classic 😂 That would be very interesting to see how they'd handle it. Totally worth at least one short, even if a series would be too much!
I remember hearing about kitty bobo and I really like the concept. In general the minds behind that pilot have some really good ideas, but they sadly never gained the traction or recognition they deserved. They fully story boarded a second episode that was never released, it was even ordered by cartoon network. It was part of a kickstarter later to show that completed story board for that second episode if it reached its goal, but it didn't. Even after trying to fundraise on a different platform, they did even worse and didn't meet their goal at all. I hope she never gives up trying to get her ideas off the floor.
_A Kitty Bobo Show_ looks amazing! I'm digging that look!
I wonder if Cartoon Network will ever pickup Pan's Loki IRL?
Oh lord, here I am just bingeing old RebelTaxi videos, only to have Pan mention Twelve Forever at 3:17, knowing what we know now of the creator, I can only cringe hearing Pan speak about it then.
It would be great if you gave Dan vs its own video one day. That show deserves way more love than it has.
man, I love seeing those old commercial bumpers. they're so interesting from a design standpoint.
How can Nickelodeon be afraid of oversaturation if that's what they were doing.
So glad you finally talked about the Crash Nebula pilot
What a coincidence that this was uploaded only about a week after I watched Kitty Bobo for the first time. I really wish it had been made into a full series. Everything about it is just so perfect. Also, I'm surprised you didn't mention the comics the creator made of it later on. They're very... interesting.
"We need more shows inside shows getting their own cartoons," or whatever the fuck you said.
We need a Ducky Momo cartoon. Get on it Disney.
Adamations but isn't it a Dora parody? Do you think Nick will want to own rights to this?
HOLY SHIT *YES*
Oh my god was that cake at the end 😩
Sam Orthober Yup! I think it was because he brought up Mission Hill being similar to Kitty Bobo, and Italian Leather Sofa was the theme for Mission Hill. So it made sense.
HONEY
WHERE ARE MY
PAAAAAAANTS????
i think i shrunk the kids!
That art style for Kitty Bobo is fantastic. I love the lack of outlines on the characters. I wish it got picked up.
The top 2 were awesome pilots.
Kitty Bobo was super chill and Becky Prim was just incredible.
Make "All My Circuits" From Futurama into a real show!
I wonder if cartoon network will ever greenlight twelve forever and back to backspace
Nick Garraud if has memes they will just look at the cancer that is ttg and ppg
Conor Punch oh god I hope twelve forever and back to backspace don't have memes in them because those shows look good and memes are so annoying as fudge
BUt memes are love
8:56 - Sick Sad World might be a live action current affairs series equivalent with the weird theme and overtone attached.
I remember seeing Kitty Bobo as a really young kid, always got confused when they never aired anymore of it
Well, you've done Becky Prim, now you NEED to talk about Welcome To Hell
As far as cartoons within cartoons go, I'd love to see "Dial M for Monkey" become a full thing. Maybe it's silly, but I always enjoyed the thought of the CN superhero universe rivalling the likes of DC and Marvel.
Bro you know how to give chills with those throwback cuts of nick and CN. I don't remember them and then I see them here and I get this orgasmic "OHHHH MAAAAAN THISS FFFFFFF" moment lmao
You're the first person I've ever seen or hear reference Kitty Bobo, even though it's something I think about all the time. Something about the name and the art style stuck with me all those years ago. Thanks for the blast for the past.
I'm just gonna stay here until we get our Pornstar podcast that we so deserve.
What cartoon in a cartoon would I watch?
Eyehole Man and Two Brothers.
I vaguely remember seeing Kitty Bobo. Happy that I was reminded of it, also happy to hear Cake in the background of it.
I actually saw Mr Sprinkles when I was a little kid because my oldest sister was watching Acceptable TV at a party...when I saw this again years later, it was like recovering repressed childhood trauma
A tv show from a rv show I would like is the fish show from Ed Edd Eddy
I love your profile pic, I love Snowy Owls!!
Nina Garcia Thsnk you
I want a live action movie of Jan Quadrant Vincent 16. And then maybe make the rest of the series, in a Jan Michael Anthology Vincent 4^4
considering how much i love Dante Basco & the art style of the show, I wish kitty bobo could be a thing now :-(
Thank you so much for showing me Mr. Sprinkles, great set of shorts that I wouldn't mind seeing more of.
Pilots that Crashed! :D
Everyone needs to watch Dan Vs.
gododoof dude for once I definitely agree with you
I loved Kitty Bobo
It haunted me for the longest time that it lost to KND. It's a good thing I ended up enjoying KND, but that still didn't ease my mind...
Kitty Bobo has some quite very impressive animation to me...I wish it was a full show.
Pan has such delicious taste in music.
Population control Johnny sounds like a show about a mass shooting that's sounds kinda awesome and different actually
Garret Woeller yeah, I thought that came across pretty clearly from the clip. Basically Hatred but a show instead of a game.
Thank for your continued support! More to come! -Meg
man, those cartoon cartoon weekends were awesome. Nothing like friday night as a kids watching almost 4 hours of assorted cartoons with new episodes.
Haven't seen this in a while. Interesting choices, Pan.
best show within a show
Hollywoo Stars and Celebrities: What Do They Know? Do They Know Things?? Let's Find Out!
I would have loved to see Kitty Bobo as a show. Even now I want to see it become one, with Dante please :3
Thanks a lot Pan. You reminded me that Dan Vs. is no more. I loved that show more than anything.
