Okay I absolutely adore Mike Faist with all my heart and while Ben’s Evan is my favorite ( mostly for his comedic delivery and his little mannerism. Specifically the way he adlibs Evan’s reactions to Connor’s erratic behavior ) but this Evan I feel is actually a lot more closer to real life. As in he’s really realistic and grounded and I like it a lot.
Mike Faist was busy with The Outsiders movie I'm sure. And easy to see why he would pass it up since the movie was little more than a vanity project for Ben Platt. Nothing wrong with Colton Ryan in my opinion though. He seems like a really nice guy.
Mike didn’t want to do. He loves his role as Connor however he decided that it was time to pass the role to someone else. Unlike Ben Platt, who’s ego too big and decided to play the movie when he doesn’t like a high schooler.
You do know Colton understudied Evan, Connor, and Jared as part of the OBC right? Also Mike did not want to do the movie. 1. He said he was too old be playing a 17 year old and 2 he was busy with other work.

I love Michaels Evan so much, his to me is very realistic and very well portrayed. His voice is amazing as well.
