Tim Lerch - Blues for Dan and Mick the TPS guys.

  • This is a minor blues that i'm dedicating to my pals at That Pedal Show. Dan and Mick are very generous and kind to me so I thought I'd try to play something inspired by them. The Guitar is a CS Nocaster that has been modified to include two Dynasonic type pickups. The amp is my trusty Princeton with a bit of reverb and trem on it and that's about all ! I can see Mick adjusting his glasses and Dan beginning with a long pause after listening to this.

Tim, if I could play with even one tenth of your prowess and sensibility I would be happy. Alas my hands are ravaged by arthritis now and my best guitar playing days are behind me. But I still derive much pleasure by watching contemporary greats like you play, thanks mate.

Thank you Stephen. I have a bit of arthritis as well and I have had to change my approach a bit to accommodate it. The way I figure it is, this music playing thing is always in motion but always in the moment. I’m convinced that if I just use exactly what I have available, mentally and physically, the the music will be honest and that’s all I can hope for. Thank you for your kind words and for taking the time to listen and write a note.

When I saw the DeArmond dynosonics on your telecaster I - clicked, already been watching TPS dudes for a long while, both brilliant guitar players themselves, but they rarely get to show it while doing demo videos. I'll always remember Dan's "Gilmourish" playing, he is a serious guitar player, as is Mick, both very modest while swimming in a pool full of genius level guitarist-musicians. I'm listening to one right now, and the tears are flowing - the signal I'm listening to great music imho (appreciated).

That telecaster sounds magical. Well done!! That said - it sounded more jazzy than bluesy and since you didn't sing about killing a man in Memphis I don't really think this is the blues.
