48 employees, now I know what you mean by overheads, was that a joke or for real 👍
How do you pitch a show idea to you guys? A book show starring Rebecca.
27:23 hey rick, it is your fault you paid too much for it because you didn't Skype call the guy which is a free call and you've done it before just like your father the old man when they sold the rifle that was cut off at the end of the barrel some of us can still use our brain that watch your show can you?
Thanks for the weird edit, Pawn Stars...
The hockey stick guy wanted $5000. Rick countered with $1500 and then $2000.
The guy decided to keep the stick- I don’t blame him.
Thanks. Wondered how that ended.
I appreciate that
Sold at auction for $3k so the guy probably walked away with about $2k.
@@scottcrocker1320 If it sold at auction for $3,000 he walked away with $3,000. Auction house's do not charge 35% fees, most of the time the buyers pay the fees which is why there is a buyers premium added on to the final hammer price and for many things that are so special, valuable or rare, auctions house's will take no fees at all or even pay you for them to auction it for the amount of publicity it would drive to the auction and their business.
I hope Rick finds a buddy who's an expert at editing videos. lol
How are you going to do us with the Hockey stick like that?
I know right???
Rick offered him 1500$, then 2000$. No Deal.
Came to the comments for that exact reason.
@@sierrahhofzon3878 LOL, that deal was still more solid than his handshake (look how we shakes the signature expert's hand)
Rightttttttt
"You got to run with the torch because your Dad picked the people?"
"Yeah"
"Get out of my shop"
Welcome to the real world.
Good ole nepotism!
Cory's comment about hiring Tanya Harding to hang out for 500 dollars was probably the funniest thing Ive ever heard him say. Made me lol and most likely so true.
Ikr!! I thought the same thing!!🤣🤣
He’s probably right too 😂
The guy with the ticket was so wholesome, I hope he got to complete his collection.
It's embarassing, but I always get a kick out of people expecting to sell something for ANYWHERE NEAR fair market value at a PAWN SHOP! lol
Why I started watching antique road show I’ve got burnt out on pawn stars
Rick knows people would be fighting to buy this item he is a complete nut case
Start high. Basic negotiation rule. Though, I get your point. Some people don't use it as a negotiation tactic but actually believe this is what they will get. :D
It is sad I know most of it is made up but I dont think the numbers from people are you can see the disappointment in the eyes of the seller lol
It’s even better when they ask more than it’s worth LOL
The Old Man was such a LEGEND! RIP!
You’d really sell a priceless personal item like that to buy surfing crap lmao
it was a chance to bond with his son instead of having it just hanging on a wall
@@SvPVids makes sense honestly
It's about sacrific.

Respect to the lady that sold the Olympic coat. What a master negotiator! She must be the only one who ever got retail value out of Rick. Man, when you hear that accent (is it NY?) you know it's business!
NY or wherever, it was annoying!!!
@@mistybollinger3312 oy vey...
I still think that the coat is worth more than $850. The right collector would love to have that coat.
Regardless of her accent that woman destroyed Rick's self esteem. She played that fool like a wind-up toy.
Telling Cory what he paid for the Olympic medal was a huge mistake.
Exactly
One of these sold 2 years back almost identical for $9,000, so he probably should've taken it
cory only got to 10k cus he had pity for the guy, if he didn't tell cory what he was losing on the medal he wouldn't get as good as a deal.
@@davidyongco1592 yea Cory’s even tighter than Rick. I could see him easily starting off at 2-3k.
the medal was ben johnson's who sold it before it was taken away from him for steroids
The way Corey swings out his arm to shake is weird!
It's from an attitude. It's called the roundhouse hand shake.
Over the fence
Is that how Corey shakes hands with the cop who stops him for DUI he probably tries to lowball the judge concerning his bail.and / or bond lol
First rule of Pawn Stars:
We don't talk about the value of hockey sticks.
Hahaha very good
I’m glad the first guy kept the torch. That would be way too sentimental to get rid of.

Rick: "You look much younger back then"
In Finland we have this saying if you look young when you're old: Hyvin säilynyt (Well preserved) And that Olympic Torch guy is that.
True!!!
Lol
Perus mursu
Rick did the woman with the Tanya Harding stuff, a solid. That’s a kind heart, and a gentleman.
Rick - “You can’t know everything”
Old Man - “You should”
Haha classic
I feel like I could hire Tonya Harding to hang out for 500 bucks 😆
old man Polar Bear... he is so cute. God bless to him, i know he's smiling and proud of his kids...
The woman with the Olympic coat was the among the best negotiators. Considering what she paid for it I think Rick got the short end of that one.
I would have love to see more from her! An expert on vintage fashion is missing on the show.
Rick liked the coat and when he likes something he overpays more so he can have it as a cool factor.
I was at that hockey game. Unbelievable, screaming chants of USA USA echoed through Lake Placid and the Adirondacks
That’s incredible
I've played on that rink in Lake Placid around a dozen times throughout the years for tournaments, and that whole town/venue is absolutely magical. Had some of my fondest memories there.
My niece did the torch run at the 2000 Sydney Olympics when she was 15. Her ex stepfather sold her torch without her knowledge for $3500 in the mid 2000s.
So you stole her torch?
Gotta love the old man! "RICK ya paid to much again!" RIP 😃

That is physically impossible.
Legend has it that when Drew saw the hockey stick it reminded him so much of his childhood memories of jumping on the couch the day we won, the he immediately ran out without giving a price on the stick so he could go jump on his couch again.
This is funny
If only the woman with all the Tanya Harding stuff had waited til “I, Tanya” came out. She would’ve made a lot more.
It is so sad that the owner of an item that is indeed priceless for him, part of history, has to sell it to buy surfing gear for him and his son, which is no more than a couple of thousands. Having held an Olympic torch, then having to sell it, just like Frank Sinatra said, "you can be flying high in April, shot down in May", life is so full of surprises. I really wish this man gets his surfing gear without having to give up his torch.
*Shot* down.
BOOM!
Its a fake show.
I mean he has the memories why does he need the item
@@RaiderNation86 you are fake

“I feel like I could get Tonya down here to hang out for $500.” 🤣😂🤣😂🤣 too funny.
Jeff Gillooly's security badge from the 1994 Figure-Skating Championships is worth a lot more than $50. A crime museum would love to have that.
That badge was from 1992.
@@VSA3010 Ah, in that case I'd still go a few hundred.
A crime museum would pay him $0, so what does that matter?
@@Rjensen2 Hmm?
Winter coat lady took a rare W! Happy for her.
Rick: I know a bunch of people who would love to have this.
Also Rick: well it's gonna sit around here for a couple years, and I might make a couple bucks off it.
whats that episode called
@@jamespatino8036 every episode ever. He says people will love the item and he can sell it quick when it cuts to him away from the customer. Then when he negotiates he tells them it will probably sit around the shop for a while. Pick a random episode and you will hear it. Just pay attention
Then he has to frame it, hire a guy to sell it, pay the dusting cleaning fee, it’s a huge economic risk
or the ever popular: "I'll have collectors lining up out the door to see this"
One of my favorite Rick quotes ever is: "I gotta pay rent". But the "I have to get it framed" excuse is also a good one. Or "it will take up shop space which costs money". :)
Wow, it's amazing that people who could be at the top of their game could end up needing to pawn something iconic like an Olympic torch for cash. That's something that should be passed down from generation to generation not pawned.
running doesn't win you money 🤷♂️
@@dylan-nguyen I get that but he could've used that as a springboard onto bigger and better things.
He didn't actually compete in the Olympics. He was selected to run with the torch because of nepotism. At the end of the day, it's simply a hunk of material that really had no real meaning. If he wanted to sell it to buy things that would create awesome memories with his son, that would have real meaning.

I would never sell an Olympic torch that I ran with ...that's a family heirloom.
: I can't know everything
Old man : you should
I have a daughter who had the pleasure of earning the privilege to run the Olympic Torch twice. I was fortunate to be able to fly down to Fort Collins, Co from Alaska to watch her run the second time. It was very chilly, wet and slushy as it had snowed the night before.
A little known fact is that the Olympic Committee had a Torch for the runners to use; OR each runner could purchase their own Torch prior to the event and run with it, and it was theirs to keep. I don't think my daughter would ever sell either one of her Torches.
Torch Seller: Me want what its valued. GIMME GIMME

How can a guy spend $13K on a gold medal but not know anything about it. At least try to find who had won it. With no engraving or document to go with it, how can expect to get any money? Unbelievable
