  • This chess game between Gata Kamsky and Judit Polgar from the 1994 Buenos Aires Sicilian Chess Tournament features a beautiful ending. The opening is a Sicilian Sveshnikov, where Kamsky applies pressure to Polgar's vulnerable d-pawn. Once pawn majorities surface, Kamsky and Polgar quickly advance them. In the endgame, Polgar precisely calculates a series of four only winning moves, the last of which is especially beautiful.

Stunning combination displayed by those last 4 moves. Definitely shows why GMs are GMs after all.

If there was a rank beyond GM, Judit would have reached it. She was above average even among GMs, top 10 in the world at one point.

Beautiful ending, and great explanation as always. I love the multipurpose-ness of that h-pawn move.

one of the most excellent, if not the best, and informative chess instructional videos...thank you....i got the most out of your commentary on moves that weren't selected or weren't the overall best, but you pointed out certain aspects of the position I had never and would never otherwise see....thank you ;- )

I met Judit at The Tata Steel tournament in Wijk Aan Zee. Judit and Anand were both really friendly. I got my favorite piece of chess Memorabilia there. They gave out a book to players celebrating the 70th anniversary of the tournament and I got signatures from everyone in the GM-A section.

i didn't know spite checking was a thing in actual chess. thought we only did that in online chess. reminds me of a maneuver i cooked up called the "poor-man's checkmate", where if i'm losing i give a spite check and then resign immediately, which gives me the feeling that i won the game and denies the actual victor the satisfaction of negating my check.
