  • Every challenge has a beginning…join us as we start our 630 mile hike of the South West Coast Path National Trail in England, completing the first stage from Minehead to Porlock Weir in Somerset!
We plan to complete the entire route over coming months between work and everyday life, plus for logistical reasons, we may complete different stages of the route and fill in the gaps as we go along! We’ll share the entire route, interesting points of interest, plus if we feel it appropriate, we’ll also point out recommended accommodations and places to eat!
We occasionally get asked what equipment and stuff we use on our travels. We have listed below a selection of items we use, including links -
    Osmo Pocket 2 - amzn.to/3KmRSa9

Ah that bought back fond memories. Such an exciting feeling when you start the trail. The trees just short of Porlock Weir died when the pebble bank was breached by the sea. Previously that area was farmed but when the sea breach the bank it created the tidal wetland that you see now. The salt water obviously killed off the trees that once grew there.

Many years ago we used to take the kids to Butlins for short breaks. I would always be afforded some time to get a walk in as the kids would be playing & the wife supervusing/reading her books. I did the walk to Porlock from the monument but my memory was that you started going up through the trees a lot sooner - maybe I missed the real path back then unless its changed. Anyway, great to see you taking on the whole walk - what an achievment this is gonna be - well done and good luck both. Seeing parts of the walk brought back good memories for me, thanks. Oh ye, getting back on a linear - I did it on a Sunday and the buses were not running...I passed someone's house after getting off Hurlestone Point and asked them about the bus - they told me it was not running and then offered to give me a lift back to Minehead - how great was that! regards Al

@@unowhotravelchannelhow lovely that you enjoyed my videos. I have a lot to learn about filming and editing but I do it mostly for keeping the memories 😊 I Didn't have a video camera the first year, and only a cheap action camera from Padstow to St. Ives but bought a GoPro in 2019. I have watched more of your videos from SWCP now and they are geeat. I will definitely watch more of them 😊
