Whether you are a student pilot, a pilot, or just an aviation enthusiast, this channel and the website are for you. Be sure to check out some great articles about helicopters and all aspects of aviation at PilotTeacher.com
My love of aviation began at a very young age and the fascination of everything that flies still lives to this day. This CZcams channel is a mix of aircraft doing their thing or answering questions to some of the most commonly asked aviation questions.
My day job as a full-time helicopter pilot allows me to dive deep into the topics and bring you up close and personal with many aircraft and the more questions I get in the comments the more videos I can create for you to answer those questions.
Being able to fly is a real privilege and taking you along for the ride when I can is something that I love to do!
Enjoy!

Sandra is a really good instructor.
She sure is!! Gonna miss not flying with her!
I want one. It's really quite a great frame, no? As she is, that bird is a beauty!
I've been eyeing B2s, B3s, didn't know the powertrain differences, just the avionics and price lists, until now.
Only changes I *want* would be an modified avionics suite, I prefer digital over analogue, like the G500 integrated kit.. We can all want more, though.
Thanks for xplain good for education,
Anytime!
Very nice ! AS350 next on my list of Type ratings !
Its a fun machine to fly! Long lining sucks though hahaha
@@PilotTeacher never done any sling action ! i bet its a challenge
@@helinick81 its a challenge at the beat of times and then add in a small floor window and you don’t see the load until its right under you!!
Amazing video! just one question, why do you call it “Astar”? Isn’t it an AS350B3?
Astar was the Marketing name it was given for the North American market. Its kinda stuck over the decades and all single versions of the AS350 are the Astar and the twin is the Twinstar. In Europe it is referred to as the Single and Twin Squirrel.
Hope this helps answer your question.
@@richardwilliams3847 you are correct. Hence why they also went to EC when it became Eurocopter. After re-reading my original reply it does seem to refer to AS as Astar which is not what I was thinking of. Ive edited the original post to avoid any confusion. Thanks for pointing it out! Much appreciated!
@@PilotTeacher it’s actually referred as Ecureuil
If it wasn’t for the 4-bar music tape loop…
Yeah, I lived and learned as I made the videos hahaha.
Ahh, Fort Mc....good memories when I saw GGIE
She is a well used lady but we had fun together hahaha
@@PilotTeacher Is the picture of GIE in the main office in Edmonton still painted on the wall? I was flying it and it was at the Aurum Lodge at Elliot Lake. Good times!
@@andrisenn768 CHL has now moved into the funky looking terminal building at Edmonton Airport. I don’t recall seeing any paintings there.
@@PilotTeacher That Was in 2013 when they moved to Edmonton Intl. Airport. There used to be various wallpaintings/pictures of CHL Ops
@@andrisenn768 yeah I wasn’t sure when they moved. Stopped flying for them at the end of last season so wont be able to have a look at the painting. Ill get one of my friends there to try and take a photo of it!
Whats the reason for the alternating lights on the bottom of the aircraft both lamps are white
Alternating lights help the aircraft be seen by other pilots much easier than a steady burning light. Same reason why towers have flashing strobes on them. Movement is picked up far better in a pilots peripheral vision and the alternating lights help to do this.
@PilotTeacher I get that but these lights are under the belly of the airship, someone told me they prevent bird strikes but on the belly of the helicopter that doesn't seem realistic to me, by the way Thank You Sir for your reply.
@@randypennel3731 only lights ive ever seen on the belly are retracting search lights that can be moved and controlled by the pilot.
Is this the helicopter that flew to the top of Everest?
It sure is. Although we would need to strip out a lot of the gear to lighten it up.
Yes it is and to the best of my knowledge it's the only one that has as far as single turbine helicopter
Which Heliport is this, looks interesting, I love to try out my Xplane 11 AS350b3, looks like a huge helicopter airport.
Hi Prazrim. Its just the helipads painted outside of our hanger
@@PilotTeacher Wow.. thanks now i'll fly my xplane 11 (Computer Sim Game) heli simulation outside your painted hanger, its going to so much fun looking for it.
@@prazrim5460 search airport code CYMM
And K61J
@@PilotTeacher Thank you, I'm a Flight simmer and i love flying heli's, just subscribed to your channel. Good content.
