  • Had a good time wood turning this mortar and pestle with my wife. I'm a beginner, and she's brand new, but this was a pretty easy project as far as woodworking goes. The lathe can be a bit scary sometimes for a beginner, but the carbide tools and chisels make it a little easier. She did great and we're really happy with how it turned out!
The mortar is walnut, and the pestle is imbuia. Thanks for watching! Please share this video if you enjoyed it!

@@CookWoodworks I hope it wasn't Her last project. She is learning very fast - She is having a good teacher 👌I saw evolution of keeping gouges in hand. She was little scared - like everyone of us on the beginnig. Regards for both of You 🖐️🖐️

That's very kind of you. She definitely improved, and she was less scared than I was my first time on the lathe🤣

where did you get that awesome face protection. I want to do this my hubby on his lathe, but scared of getting a shard in my eye. His current shield is pretty flimsy

Thanks. It's butcher block conditioner, and it's a mix of beeswax and mineral oil

If your tools are sharp enough, you don't need sand paper.
