David Lowry of the Lowry Agency and "Live From Music City" sits down with guitar virtuoso Guthrie Govan about his band The Aristocrats and music in general.
I love the way Guthrie started life playing music but didnt really know what to do until his 20s and then things just happened...no silver spoon and mummy and daddy handing everything down on a golden platter for him..he seems so nice and humble and full of music because thats whats hes all about...wonderful Guthrie..respect..
Actually, the interviewer is really good because he asks questions that bring out something different from Guthrie. Almost every other interview (with Guthrie and other guitarists) has the same rote questions with the same answers. I've met David on a gig in China and he is quite intelligent and a great player in his own right.
I've been reading David's blog for a while now, and in my humble opinion, this guy is BRILLIANT. He is a music insider who shares PRICELESS info about every imaginable aspect of "the business." He brings this same insight to this interview...engaging, interesting and informative! David, your material should be REQUIRED viewing/reading for every serious musician out there. Thank you, sincerely, for everything you do!!!
Nice!! I love watching Guthrie's interviews. He is beyond the normal musician, he is some kind of alien or something like that. Thnxs for the interview!
Please Guthrie, Yes Change it to GBM!! And btw, I found The Aristocrats while looking for Marco. I had to think for a minute because I'd seen you on NAMM videos testing amps and now I'm like wow!!!! Cheers!
'I have to do this' that's what's missing in a lot of modern popular music, it's just a way to pedal merchandise instead of being a means of expression. I'd love it if Guthrie joined The Fall, just to see what would happen....
I am fascinated with the way Guthrie talks and communicates. He seems very uncomfortable in the beginning. Not on his part but noticing the uncomfort in the other human. He seems like he’s tripping on shrooms all the time. Just very centered and still.

This interview in particular had been moved a couple times due to schedules so he may have been a bit frazzled at first.
