@@jake12.48 Doesn't make sense to give them unlimited time to build because they could essentially take their time and be completely relaxed, take hours and hours etc. My team of raiders are organised to be ready to start at a certain time aswell so It'd be hard to find raiders if I had to do it when I'm told it's convenient for the builders, and ontop of all this when have raiders ever waited for your base to be finished? The time restraint is there for a reason and I'd like to add that 1 team had no problem completing the task in the time limit. I sort of agree that it would be more fun to let them finish, but I guarantee you 10 more minutes isn't what they'd need. It'd be double the time, then more time for electronics on top, and an hour to get gear sets ready, and I can bet after all that they'd still say "if we had more time we'd be more prepared"
I really think to make this actually fair you have to let someone plan a wide build...or give the wide builders like double the time. Every builder knows a ton of tower builds...the tall builders built some aloneintokyo design they've built 1000 times. The other two have to do everything from scratch off the top of their head. With more time a much better wide design could be built, that actually incorporates the ability to defend it's perimeter. You also need to account for the fact that it's faster to build upward than it is outward even with noclip.

normally I like the concept of these challenges, this one is the exception. The wide base was at a huge disadvantage in the rules from the getgo. It takes a lot more time to build wide than build tall, it takes a lot more resources to build wide than tall. Both teams had experience and ideas in mind for tall bases; the tall base was even rehearsed. and the rules you let both teams skirt were massively more favorable to the tall base than those for the wide base. The tall base wasn't even tall, it was normal size. The wide team needed to at the very least have advanced knowledge of what they were doing so they could plan a real base. On top of that more time should have been allowed because it takes so much longer to build wide where you can't fill in a bunch of different walls and ceilings without moving. a minimum width for the wide base and minimum height for the tall base would have helped get the fairness to a reasonable level. All that to say from the concept of the challenge everyone knew the wide base would have no chance.
It’s amazing to me how confident the wide base builders were. Meanwhile they’re asking for cloth mid raid to make bandages and bags after they lost their one kit 😂 The wide base needs to be done proper justice!

I would love to see a raid challenge video where the builders have time to actually finish a base, like 2 hours, but the raiders have overwhelmingly large numbers like 2 v 20. A fully built base vs a fully stocked raid group. Get some aloneintokyo level raids going on!

I think the wide base should get a redo for justice, but i kinda feel like it wasnt taken seriously by the builders. No out side turrets, only 2 defensive spots on roof, could have added triangles between squares and lowered shotgun traps facing up to keep off roof.
Before watching the video... as a solo I've never really done either but I feel like sprawling bases that cover a lot of area would be the way to go. I mean look at any military base, they ain't building towers. I think one day having many smaller bases that work in conjunction and cover a large swath of area will be the meta. I predict the wide base wins handily. edit: okay it looks like the tall builders are much more experienced so maybe this prediction is no good.... the wide base is literally just an empty warehouse. edit2: this experiment needs to be redone with people who are prepared to build wide.
For the unique base requirements it might help to tell builders what they have to do a day in advance to give time to cook up a build to recreate on your server
Wrong I had a whole wipe where I only got offline and no one could ever find the tc they could only ever find loot inside my compound, I got pummeled one time but I believe it was over 30 rockets or 20 c4 or both and the guys didn't find anything but the fake core in the middle of the base with a bunch of empty boxes and a tier 3 with furnaces, was really funny, but yeah my base was wide asf, it was as most say a raiders nightmare, I built it on a builder server and it actually took me 2 hours to raid with over 50c4 and even more rockets, it's about the width not the tallness that's for sure
@@TheBangMangTingTangi absolutely agree my teamates always build weird ass CZcams bases and waste so much resources making and up keeping a shooting floor and if your base is like 2/3 squares up with some half walls with ceilings which would make it 4 ceilings down… and if it’s wide you can fit so many bunkers, you can fit fake core in the middle and use shells as loot because all of the triangles in circle bases… and you also can and should seal off battery rooms like a bunker once complete making the base untouchable on vanilla
Probably one of the better approaches would be to build wide and distribute loot pretty evenly. If it's a good maze (jump ups and drop downs with doors or garage doors or both), you could make it so that most rooms that would be raided probably have something they could grab, but would cost way too much to be worthwhile. It'd probably be even more discouraging if half the rooms were empty and the other half would at best break even. You get raided a few times, don't bother with defending, and then get ignored once people realize they're just wasting their time.
Instead of giving them specific items for raid, maybe you could do something with points, this way they get to choose not only their items but their playstyle too, the points could be worth something like this: Rocket: 8 points C4: 10 points Explosive Ammo (per round): 1 point Assault Rifle: 8 points LR-300 Assault Rifle: 7 points Custom SMG: 5 points Semi-Automatic Rifle: 4 points MP5A4: 7 points F1 Grenade: 3 points (there are more things to add but you get the point)

I love your videos but the fact that almost all the bases are far too rushed ruins it a bit. Some people are super slow doing turrets and stuff like that. I think you the timer should only apply to the construction/doors/embrasures and almost all deployables are untimed.
I really like to build random and just place foundations in random shapes to start and then add a tower on top of that. I literally never know what I am going to build. It confuses me every time and it also confuses raiders 99% of the time because they've never seen the design before. What I've learnt in Rust is, nothing is unraidable, not profitable yes. Best ever base IMO Is the 1 way cave stacked with 15+ hqm walls at 1 entrance and a turret at the bucket drop down. They normally give up, even on 10x servers :) ( only issue is, you have to kill yourself every time you go back to base because you have to make the jump where the bucket is and defending is hard if they camp the bucket, Best to have an external base with a few kits).
Might try that, on 3x, if I can find a untalented cave I'll try. If I find on taken ill just boom it cuz it's not hard getting mass amounts of Sulphur on 3x and up lol

One thing I would like to see is real base fight. Where they get almost unlimited time or whatever. Where they can really put down everything they want. Or a game were each team can ask for 10 more min. Every 10 min Until one team is ready allowing the other team only 10 mins to finish. Not know how long they will have.

When you say 4x4 than it should be 4x4 triangles or squares, just nothing more. Dont get me wrong, i like that base but i was expecting something more unique and ridiculously tall. Like that wide base is...wide base...tall base is just regular clan base in my eyes.
Awesome video that looks like alot of fun. The wide base was wasted tho they built a crazy maze but then left openings right on the top to go straight in. They would have been better off just sealing everything off then pankcake layer and then hope the raiders went through the sides. But i would have got right in the center and went through both layers and be in the open core making their maze useless anyways.
Personally, these days im leaning toward 3 or 4 floors tall and 10-20 squares wide. I've been working on it since before the new turret constraints. I want something that covers significant ground for offline defense

I agree with many People. You should redo the Video Idea with someone who actually has a Base design in Mind for a Wide Base. It's not something you would normally Build, so it's much harder to think of something on the Spot then jt would be with any other Base or a Tall Base. The Tall Base Builders simply did a Build they already knew that was within your Parameters. The Wide Base Builders didn't have that Privilege. Other then that, great idea love the Content.
My very first thought on low base restriction was stacked floors, making it look like 2 floors high, but practically 4. Second thought was when they started building: with unlimited resources, why square foundations?
And I remember times playing with my old friends on x100000 servers, building wide bases like 100x100 and height like 8, with 2x2 loot room, noone ever raided us just because wiping those bases would take like a day, and loot room was only accessible trough /home in most random point in layout...
Tall base should probably have been strictly limited to a 4x4 footprint, except for basic frame connections to 1x1 gatehouses. That base was realistically like 7 wide if we're being completely fair to everyone involved, lol.
You should do this again for sure the wide base dudes did really well with the spirit of the challenge but the tall base dudes literally just built a cookie cutter clan base and that’s lame af
2 story wide build could be tough to defend from a raid tower.. since they have the height advantage so id play massive open core, so defenders have a football field size space between them and raiders even once they have made it to core, let them get deep before killing so they cant retrieve kits!
Me personally would keep it this way, if they are very high skilled they could make good base designs in under 1 hour. And even if you are not that high skilled its still easier aslong as you stay organised and keep up a certain pace. And if they dont finish the base it will make some time for good improvising which could also be entertaining.
Nice video max, but all off abuse items for part of defenders make it more difficult to see the video, because we all know thas imposible to somebody to raid a base if 200 grenades are thrown per minute, just like what happened with shotgun traps in another video, its need more control the items thats defenders give to himself.
ok so there is a strategy i did on wide base builds that deterred people. i built bases that size a lot of times (no life farmer sometimes lol) what i did was gather enough armor doors to make every single square inch of that place nothing but doors (except for the outer walls of course) this meant they could never tell where they were going (sortof) and i always had a shooting angle out the slots no matter what part of the base they were in. when you literally have a 100-200 doors to pick from it can fuck up your raiding choices.... also why didnt they just try a gigantic 2 story mathematically unraidable base? that wouldve been good too
wide guys definitely werent given enough time. i've seen some insane compound designs before, they do 9/10 have towers but they also have insane defenses on a wider scale rather than taller. good video idea though, just not the greatest execution. a little more planning or prep for something like this wouldve been worth it for the content.. would be a great idea to revisit in a few months time so at least the wide base build team gets a fairer chance

Nothing against a CZcams base, but the tall team did use the dynasty by nini rust. Would have liked to see them mention that and give credit to the base creator.
We built the tall base in here for wipe day but was never able to get an online thank you for showing me the reaction of it. We had to despawn because of cheaters🤣
I think I'd take wide, I got a lotta ideas and tall is limited to foundation wipe in # of rockets. It'd be cheaper to go stronger wide, you just gotta floor stack and have odds involved in location of the tc and loot.
And roofs are both ceiling and wall, extending on both directions, so nothing wrong with extra roofs extending vertically like they do out on tall base.
Personally I would much rather see the completed base and how it performs rather than be strict on the time

Personally, these days im leaning toward 3 or 4 floors tall and 10-20 squares wide. I've been working on it since before the new turret constraints. I want something that covers significant ground for offline defense

I personally would like for the base builders to have more time cuz i feel like they never get everything done. I think giving more time would be needed. Maybe limit resource a little more?

You should redo the Video Idea with someone who actually has a Base design in Mind for a Wide Base.
It's not something you would normally Build, so it's much harder to think of something on the Spot then jt would be with any other Base or a Tall Base.
The Tall Base Builders simply did a Build they already knew that was within your Parameters. The Wide Base Builders didn't have that Privilege.
Other then that, great idea love the Content.
Yeah you should do one of your episodes where they actually get to finish and the base is completed and then see how it goes
My very first thought on low base restriction was stacked floors, making it look like 2 floors high, but practically 4. Second thought was when they started building: with unlimited resources, why square foundations?

And I remember times playing with my old friends on x100000 servers, building wide bases like 100x100 and height like 8, with 2x2 loot room, noone ever raided us just because wiping those bases would take like a day, and loot room was only accessible trough /home in most random point in layout...

Tall base should probably have been strictly limited to a 4x4 footprint, except for basic frame connections to 1x1 gatehouses. That base was realistically like 7 wide if we're being completely fair to everyone involved, lol.

You should do this again for sure the wide base dudes did really well with the spirit of the challenge but the tall base dudes literally just built a cookie cutter clan base and that’s lame af

2 story wide build could be tough to defend from a raid tower.. since they have the height advantage so id play massive open core, so defenders have a football field size space between them and raiders even once they have made it to core, let them get deep before killing so they cant retrieve kits!

Me personally would keep it this way, if they are very high skilled they could make good base designs in under 1 hour. And even if you are not that high skilled its still easier aslong as you stay organised and keep up a certain pace. And if they dont finish the base it will make some time for good improvising which could also be entertaining.
Nice video max, but all off abuse items for part of defenders make it more difficult to see the video, because we all know thas imposible to somebody to raid a base if 200 grenades are thrown per minute, just like what happened with shotgun traps in another video, its need more control the items thats defenders give to himself.

ok so there is a strategy i did on wide base builds that deterred people. i built bases that size a lot of times (no life farmer sometimes lol) what i did was gather enough armor doors to make every single square inch of that place nothing but doors
(except for the outer walls of course) this meant they could never tell where they were going (sortof) and i always had a shooting angle out the slots no matter what part of the base they were in. when you literally have a 100-200 doors to pick from it can fuck up your raiding choices.... also why didnt they just try a gigantic 2 story mathematically unraidable base? that wouldve been good too

wide guys definitely werent given enough time. i've seen some insane compound designs before, they do 9/10 have towers but they also have insane defenses on a wider scale rather than taller.
good video idea though, just not the greatest execution. a little more planning or prep for something like this wouldve been worth it for the content.. would be a great idea to revisit in a few months time so at least the wide base build team gets a fairer chance
the second raid, when they build the raid base, I was wondering that they wouldn't fire rockets to disturb the aim of the defenders with eruptions

Nothing against a CZcams base, but the tall team did use the dynasty by nini rust. Would have liked to see them mention that and give credit to the base creator.

I think I'd take wide, I got a lotta ideas and tall is limited to foundation wipe in # of rockets. It'd be cheaper to go stronger wide, you just gotta floor stack and have odds involved in location of the tc and loot.

And roofs are both ceiling and wall, extending on both directions, so nothing wrong with extra roofs extending vertically like they do out on tall base.
