  • We take the TGV Lyria train in first class all the way from Paris, France to Zurich, Switzerland. The journey takes 4 hours from Paris Gare de Lyon station to Zurich Hauptbahnhof stopping at Dijon, Belfort-Montbéliard TGV, Mulhouse and Basel along the way.
    After we arrive in Zurich we check into our apartment called HITrental Niederdorf Apartments, they are in a great location in the centre of the City.
    After resting for a bit we catch the tram to the Lindt World of Chocolate Museum in Zurich. On the tour you discover the history of Swiss Chocolate through interactive exhibits. The best part is the free unlimited chocolate tasting of all the Lindt Chocolate flavours. We really did eat so much free Chocolate at the Lindt Home of Chocolate we started to feel sick.
    We then catch a ferry on Lake Zurich back to the City where we explore before having dinner back at our apartment.
    Located next to Lake Zurich, at the foot of the Alps and in the heart of Europe, Zurich is a very cosmopolitan city.
    About the train journey
    Paris Zurich in 4:04 from Paris Gare de Lyon 488 km apart, Zurich is only 4 hours and 4minutes from Paris Gare de Lyon thanks to TGV Lyria, which covers this distance at a speed of 320 km/h.
    From city centre to city centre, TGV Lyria provides the fastest and most comfortable transportation from Paris to Zurich. Your TGV Lyria leaves Paris Gare de Lyon in the 12th district in the eastern part of Paris. You arrive at Zurich station (Zurich Hauptbahnhof), right in the heart of the Swiss city.
    With TGV Lyria you can make the best use of your time between Paris and Zurich by relaxing or being productive, and you enjoy a travel experience with no compromises. It is a smooth journey without the inconvenience of connections and with no queuing.
    Travelshorts’ Epic European Adventure is a family travel vlog about a father, son and daughter travelling around Europe over three weeks using only Trains, buses, boats and taxis. The plan was to see as much as possible whilst still reducing our carbon footprint. In this 22 episode series we visit France, Switzerland, Italy, Vatican City, Austria, Poland, Czech Republic, Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium and of course the UK. The goal was to have as much fun as possible and create memories that will last a life time.

    In planning out a possible train trip through Europe next year I found this web series. It was fantastic. We are thinking London-Paris-Disney-Zurich and then possibly into Munich and then Berlin. Good luck of future travels!

    Hi, this was such a useful video. Thanks very much. My wife and I will be travelling from Zurich to Paris on the TGV Lyria in late May, and then back again to Zurich on the same express service in June. It’ll be our first time doing so and I was wondering if it’s necessary to book tickets in advance. Are tickets normally readily available on the day itself? Thanks!

      @travelshorts  Před rokem +1

      Thanks, I am glad you found it useful. We used Interrail tickets to travel on this train but also reserved our seats 3 weeks in advance so I don't know if they are available on the day sorry.

    Which seat number in first class would you recommend we should book if we want facing front of the train? And if we have a toddler with us?

    • @travelshorts
      @travelshorts  Před rokem

      My seats were 113, 114 and 116 in coach 12. From memory you can see all the seats and the direction of travel when you make the seat reservations on their website.

    I hope you didn’t pay much more for first class! Very disappointing you didn’t get anything on board! What was the lounge like?

    • @travelshorts
      @travelshorts  Před 2 měsíci +1

      It was part of my first class interrail ticket, it allowed us to travel first class on all trains around Europe for 22 days. From memory the lounge was nothing special just drinks and a view of the platforms below.

    Is it possible to take the train from Gare du Nord to Zurich?

    • @travelshorts
      @travelshorts  Před rokem

      Not that I am aware of, there is no direct train. you would need to take a train from Gare du Nord to Gare de Lyon first, it only takes a few minutes.

      I don't know sorry, I only took a train from Florence to Rome and then Rome to Sorrento, I did not go back up to Zurich. I have had a quick look on thetrainline.com and it looks like you need to change in Milan.

    Hi. If I book my ticket online, do I have to print the ticket?

    • @travelshorts
      @travelshorts  Před 2 měsíci

      I just used the digital Interrail pass so would assume if you show them your ticket on your phone you should be ok. Always best to double check the small print on the ticket just to be sure.

      @@travelshorts thank you. My trip will be next month. I saw other vlogs with a ticket validating machine before entering the train, and the ticket paper is just too small so I wonder if printing the e-ticket is needed.
