I never get sad about celebs passing away. but Robin williams was special to me. He was such a big part of my childhood and early teens.

A true talent. And some of the characters he had played are simply inspirational. Dead Poet Society made me want to be a teacher. Good Will Hunting made me want to be a psychologist.
He is such a loss to the entertainment world.

I don't think I have ever been more saddened by the loss of anyone in Hollywood, than Robin Williams. Even 5 months later, it is still upsetting. RIP ROBIN WILLIAMS, forever will be missed.

Same with me... when I watcher the third Night At The Museum, I, for a moment, was so happy to see all the actors and the funny things that Robin do on the movie... but, then, when I realized he wasn't there anymore, I got so sad...
It's incredibly sad...but thanks to modern technology, we'll always have him. We'll always be able to watch Mrs Doubtfire or Mork & Mindy or his standup and laugh because of him. His body may be gone, but the person he was will always live on.
He was so amazing and funny. I loved him. When I think of the Bird Cage, or Mrs. Doubtfire, I get teary eyed. RIP Robin WIlliamds

It's hard to imagine right? This man, who could bring so much laughter and happiness to others to be suffering to the point of taking his own life.... It truly was a quiet but fierce battle. I wish he had been more open about it. just so that we as fans could've done more for him. it's the least we could've done after everything he did for us.

Have you never heard of the saying that people who seem excessively happy can sometimes be severely depressed? Stop thinking that anyone with X condition needs to show Y symptoms.
The only thing Williams' death made me realize is the man may have been depressed for a longer time than anyone knew. For all we know, his excessively "happy" exterior was an overcompensation for how miserable he felt inside.

He actually had Lewy body dementia. It is diagnosed via autopsy. It explains a lot. It's a horrible disease. He probably wanted to end it before it took his quality of life and made living more miserable. Look it up. So sad.

Micheal Hernandez he committed suicide because he suffered from a very serious illness called depression. If he had died from cancer, you would not be saying something so downright disrespectful - so why do you think you have the right to say it in this case? Maybe his illness wasn't visible to everyone, but it was real. You are entitled to your religious beliefs, but you are not entitled to saying such thoughtless things to people who are grieving. Robin Williams was an amazing man who deserves to be honored, and it's not up to you to decide how that's done.

Sydney Meg If you are talking about the English pop star, he's still alive. We are referring to Robin Williams (who is the man in the clip with Ellen). He was a very famous actor/comedian and he committed suicide in August 2014. It's hard to imagine anyone not knowing who is is. Even very young children because of the roles he play or voices he did in animated movies.
When he died, half of me died. He brought me so much laughter and even if I was upset and felt like no one could cheer me up, he always could. RIP Robin Williams. You will never be forgotten😭😞

Well, that's how German sounds to American ears (if not many foreign ears). I am also German, my husband is American. And as far as the insulting goes, all stereotypical impressions have that potential. It's their nature. The rest is taste. I don't feel insulted at all.
I suffer from major depressive disorder and an anxiety disorder and it really is usually a silent war. I mean, everyone in my life is aware I have it, but it's inappropriate in situations like this to say, "Hey, I love playing this game and I'm having a great time, but there's a hole in my chest and it feels like all my emotions have been diffused from my brain." Seeing Robin Williams here makes me happy because as everyone else does, I miss him dearly. But at the same time, knowing he was suffering from such internal anguish at this time only makes me wish he had been more forthcoming with his illness. It's bittersweet, but even after death, Robin Williams taught us another valuable lesson like he always did when I was growing up. This lesson though, cost him his life but has shed so much more light on mental illness to the point where people are finally starting to take it seriously. The stigma is slowly fading away and educating people about suicide and the symptoms that come with those thoughts can only help those who feel as if no one truly cares.

We should all be envious of Robin that he's no longer dealing with the pain and suffering from this world, and no longer battling his own demons. Now he can enjoy true freedom. Even though we didnt know him personally, he was in our lives and our homes quite often. To me that means he played a BIG part in our lives. I myself grew up watching Robin and now, my own children love and enjoy him as much as I did. I'm sure there are many many other ppl that can say the same. Farewell Robin, you will live on in your fans lives through all of the wonderful and unforgettable movies, shows, etc...You will be missed but never forgotten...:(

candysweet434 I think the diagnosis was Parkinson’s and dementia. But he also had some depression in his past, though I believe he had “over come” that, if you will. It was the medical diagnosis that made up his mind.

yes you are right, there is not a time that is needed to be diagnosed having a real depression but there are many young persons that claim to be depressive but they are not. they just have a depressing time... like after an ending of a relationsship. i'd love to believe in god, that would make so many things easier, but i just dont. so many things the church and institutions of others religions told was proven wrong and thats why i believe that the rest of the unknown stuff in science will be proven wrong aswell.
