It's actually scary how much you guys pay for health care. I heard you even get charged for holding your own baby right after birth (skin to skin contact) absolutely insane. I'm one of 10 siblings and it would've bankrupted my parents if there was any cost. Genuinely don't know how yous do it. ❤❤

Peep Show is set in Croydon which is part of Greater London and Hastings is on the south coast of England about 60 miles away. So it's not like Jeremy has gone 20 mins to the next town. It'd take an hour and half to drive just one way. :D
Jez is awful at geography & thinks Hastings is in Kent, when it's actually in E Sussex. He'll do a lot to get into & stay in a relationship, as previously shown when he blacks up for Nancy.
@@RobertTaylor-gz2fu I was more mentioning it for King & Queen Boomers benefit as being in the USA they may not realise how far it is and the effort Jez is going to. Rather than being the next town a few miles down the road, it's a ridiculous distance for a loaf of bread. :D
Mark saying its in "Sussex" is wrong. It's in East Sussex, you would expect Mark to not make such basic errors especially when correcting Jez.

"Gladiator" is a great movie because it does NOT pretend to be historically accurate. That's my major issue with "Braveheart" is it says at the start of the film "based on real events" it's completely misleading, the only thing that movie got correct was England and Scotland are both real places.
I like to think I have a good grasp on British comedy yet I’m ashamed to say that I never watched Peep Show.

In my opinion, while there are some highlight moments throughout the seasons obviously, the show generally gets better as the seasons progress, I think it’s more the pacing than anything else. A LOT more to look forward to haha!
Season 8 is a bit wank though, let's be honest.

I love the nine at the end. Somebody in the American Healthcare has planned this out. When the mother, exhausted and drenched with sweat is offered the chance to hold her baby before it's whisked away, she is told it only costs $39. Somebody has planned that she will be fooled by the nine at the end and think that it's $30, not (basically) $40. I'm surprised they didn't price it at $39.99.
EDIT - It's $39.35. Somebody charged the hospital thousands of dollars commission for all those extra thirty-five cents per baby.

@@paulashe61That seems to have been the plan of some for a long time. A lot of kick backs missed out on currently. There's been a slow increase in private involvement for the last 3 decades. Any big single change will be protested, so a slow drip by drip method is less noticeable.
Just a personal opinion. Too much hostile polarised talk over subjects like this. Can't deny some of the benefits capitalism brings in certain areas, particularly things like efficiency and innovation.
You shouldn't try to apply it in all aspects of life though. Healthcare, power, water etc are public services and too important to be left at the mercy of the market.
There isn't just stone age communism on the one hand and unbridled ruthless capitalism on the other, there's many positions you can take inbetween.

The history walks do definitely happen but admittedly I've not seen many, when i was 11 though we took a school trip to tour some of the air raid tunnels used in ww2 and our school payed extra for the staff to roleplay the entire time. It was a lot of fun and it really brought history to life. Would definitely recommend taking a history tour if you can

You have insurance but going through the prenancy has cost you $5k so far... so i assume insurance over there only covers unexpected treatments then?
We do have to pay for some treatment here but thats usually subsidised but the major treatments are free including prenancy.
Hastings is definitely in Sussex not Kent, a well known battle happened nearby in 1066 with William the conqueror (the invader) similar to small town New England ✌️❤️🇬🇧

re healthcare, we have both systems, national health and private like you, so if you want to spend thousands you can, but 99% of people go nhs and get it for free at point of use

Enjoyed a recent drama series on the origins of the SAS. They did get a lot of details right, but the vibe they were creating, using 60's and 70's music which is obviously out of place gave it a timeless adventure feel which worked well.
