  • 311 lead singer and eternal optimist Nick Hexum talks about their breakout hit “All Mixed Up” with best-selling author and Dutch Historian, Rutger Bregman. Rutger’s books “Utopia For Realists” and “Humankind” draw on scientific evidence that demonstrate our inherent capacity for good and the viability of ideas like Universal Basic Income, a 15 Hour Work Week, Open Borders and more.

A self-help book for abolitionists of today ..! Looking forward to it, Rutger! A great conversation, but would have appreciated hearing more insights from the creativity of music. Thank you!

311 is my favorite band. But this is one of the most short sighted conversations I have ever heard when it comes to why some people are jaded and negative. No, it isn't always "because it's cool". It's because of life experiences. Nick Hexum has always been a talented, slick, likable, good looking person. Just because of that alone, there is so much about the darkest human experiences that he will never know about. We have one of the most underpaying and exploitative workforces in the developed world as well. There's a lot of talk about families here. What about all of the hard working men who never even get to have families because no women find them good enough? What about bullying? I love this band but I gotta be real here...I'm not feelin this conversation. Not everyone who is jaded and fed up is pulling a Corey Taylor and just doing it because it's cool. Some people are just jaded and fed up. For good reason.

Ok as a new accelerationist (lulz) completely open global borders will "work" and eventually create an upward curve of creativity, but BILLIONS OF PEOPLE WILL DIE FIRST. -Then again, Nick wrote a song titled 'From Chaos' Comes Clarity. I Suppose it depends upon how far out one zooms out from Earth....👽👽👽

What appened to this guy? After the episode with Tucker Carlson, he just went gone! Back in the days, he was talking about all the malevolent guys, that we end up to get in governments and corporations who control them in Office?!.

311 is my favorite band, but there's no denying this entire planet is run by evil people. The thing that gives me hope is the fact that evil people are in control SOLELY because the average person wants good things for their friends/family/community and wants to be good, but they've been deceived by people in power. They use our good nature against us.

I love your screen name. And you are correct. 311 is my favorite band as well but I found this conversation shortsighted as I stated in my comment as well
