@@Jan_Berlucchi Olympic downhill courses have to be easier than FIS World Cup downhills. just because the jumps are huge doesn't mean it's difficult. lenzerheide is considered really difficult and it has exactly 0 jumps

I never understood the point of gates in the downhill race. I understand the need for slalom events where the emphasis is more on precision and cornering skills but isn't the downhill supposed to be more about speed so what difference does it make what line you take as long as you get down the course? How many crashes have been caused because the skiers have misjudged the course and tried to get within the gates at high speed?
