I got let go from spectrum for not specifying that I had a felony conviction. I had it when I was 17 and was 31 when they let me go 2 years ago. My manager said the decision was made by corporate, not them. I never got in trouble, but one time. Want to start my own business so I can make the money I need to support my family.

I was in prison in 2014. I'm a recovered addict and have turned my life completely around for 6 years, and I still cannot find a good job that pays me enough to be stable for me and my son. I'm so sick of this. I want to start my own business so I can avoid the problem of not being hired due to my felony, but there is still a lot of hindrances. I'm here looking desperately for direction in what I can do.
There is help. Not sure what state you are in however, I know that you could actually get a real estate or licensee to sell insurance. What you need is a mentor that you can learn under and that would be willing to vouch for you to the board. Not sure if you have theft on your record but in many cases as long as you have non-violent and no theft there are ways to make something work for you. You can also start your LLC and you can do that own your own.
Try online resale via eBay or Etsy Poshmark or Mercari. I have been maxed out for two years, and am close to seeing over 5k monthly

Start with e commerce. I was a heroin addict for 15 years. Then I got clean and started selling stuff on eBay. 6 years later I have 5 eBay stores and last month I hired my first employees. No one cares about my felonies or my past! You can do it.

I've honestly tried this method to raise money for the meds I needed for a blood clot in my heart. the medication costs $400 a month. I got 5 views, and 1 share in 30 days. I honestly would say that the majority of programs I've ever come across other aren't available in my area, or will only help if you are a single mother, or a veteran. Now, it's great that those two groups of people have help available. But it doesn't help me. :(

I'm a convicted felon with my own business and im catching hell getting any kind of help. Please lead me in the right direction for a grant or loan. SBA ain't showing no love. I was honest on the application and it only has hurt me. Been in Reconsideration for almost 7 months

It depends on the employer that will hire you. Good luck with that. The first thing they ask on job applications have you ever been convicted of a felony. If you check the box you are dead in the water. You are a risk and a trust problem.

Point it out if the comment is here. if you did not read this correctly "So many people with prior convictions just want to work. Why is that wrong". If you are not a felon and have not tried to "go straight" you have no idea how society is stacked against you trying to succeed. So I ask you do you have a problem with the fact that people who have "paid " their debt to society are trying to make a good upright life?

you are right! The internet is a different platform to help people. American is creating situations that is going back to hurt them by putting restrictions on people who have had conflicts with the criminal justice system.

There are freelancing sites but you have to bid for the jobs and there is no guarantee of income every month.

I served about 23 years already. 4 from 92 - 96 for 2 armed robberies.
I came home in January 96. And in June of 96 I got caught with 2 Keys of coke and a gun while coming down from another armed robbery.
I left 2 guys tied up. The guys I robbed.
Today I'm still serving life parole after coming home in 2012 after being caught in that robbery in 96.
I'm not even supposed to be on parole right now. The Rockefeller law I was sentenced under was repealed and no longer exists. Yet I'm still on parole for it. Figure that out.
I'm going to make something happen because I'm Confident in my abilities.
But I don't think many people would like to help me.

Your best bet at getting a loan from the government would be student loans--they are backed by the credit and faith of the US government and they give them out to almost anyone.

Prison is big business
In a Pennsylvania state prison during a meal prisoners exit the cafeteria can get a misconduct and possible time in the hole if caught sneaking foot out and taking it to their cell. 2 guards made a bet between themselves that the next prisoner out the door was going to get a misconduct. They Gabe one to a prisoner that was going in front of the parole board soon.
After years of incarceration looking forward to his family and freedom. The parole board denied his parole. It was common for us prisoners and a news article called it the $25,000 cheeseburger was the cost many years ago of one year in prison to the taxpayers.

Danielle Edwards Fight it. Being a felon for something you didn't do or something in self defence sucks. I know, I spent 7 out of 10 locked up for something I didn't do. I signed a plea so I could get out on probation and the first time I couldn't find a job fast enough for them they put me in prison then let me out a year later then kept putting me in and out. They play games with people to screw they minds up.

I did... honestly I had to move out because the crime there was so bad.... since then I started my own company. I received a pardon for my crimes in the past, without Legal representation on my own.. and now I’m desperately trying to find grants to expand my landscaping business.I applied for my DBE..... but I just have such a hard time. Cannot find the grants for felons of which you speak. I went to the SBA that was here.... at least a couple years ago they were not very helpful....

Can you create a package of grants and tips for felons? My mom's boyfriend's son was placed in prison for an insane amount of time based much on false charges while staying with a friend of his who's father was a police officer, and partially on legitimate charges. (From what i can remember). If you can create a resource pack for ex felons I'd much appreciate it as this guy spent about half of his life behind bars over some really minor stuff. I want to see him get back on his feet and prove to my mom that your services are legitimate so she too can fix her financial problems so she'd be in a position to help us out too (We are currently pooling all of our money together).
