    That song was written gif his voice! Man! Remember this tune in the 80s! This song was powerful on vinyl and the live version was absolutely impactful!

    Hard to believe how Greg's voice has held up so long. He still has his pipes.

    For most people, Greg, Lewis, John, Mark and Bob are the original members. They were the actual members when PETRA'S success actually launched into orbit with their Never Say Die and More Power To Ya albums. It is true that there were other players in the very early years.

      LOL. This John recorded the keyboards on NSD, MPTY, NOTW. But Lawry was a worthy and more suitable upgrade after me.

      Nothing to apologize for! Lawry was a great keyboard match for Petra and was probably better suited to the ministry aspect than I was. @@John-rw2zf

      @gingervytis I personally hold in deep respect any musician who took part in the production of MPTY, NOTW and BTS. Even Never Say Die was a fantastic piece of work. The music of PETRA and all the musicians involved, including you, has helped sustain me throughout my entire adult life to this date. The music that you were a part of is deeply personal and spiritual to many people like myself. Thank you for all that you have done for us. Take Care and God Bless my Friend.

      @@John-rw2zf Thank you for your kind words. I occasionally think about the old Petra days, and wonder whether I contributed anything real for God's kingdom, or was it mostly just for my own pursuit of music. But I do know that we were all very earnest about the message.

    Hearing some comments from the peanut gallery here about this not being the original band members. LOL
    Look the band is not called Original Petra they are playing Classic Rock, the same Rock as someone else I read rightly said made the way into becoming famous.
    I personally prefer the Greg Voltz era because I always enjoyed sound of his voice and the range he demonstrated. Other eras of Petra were also good.
    It is good to see CPR on the go. Hopefully it will bring back more Christian Rock.
    True Fan here. ;)

      Thanks for your gracious response.. as the non-BH guitarist I knew I'd be getting some flack :D No surspises there. Haha! Just wanting to honor the Volz-era Petra legacy that actually began my musical journey when I was 14 yrs old! I couldn't agree with you more about his, and "Classic Petra's" impact!

    It's looks that there's no original petra members like lead guitarist Bob Hartman. I doubt that this is genuine Petra(Gospel Rock Band) that I use & love to listen & watch their videos.

    • @dietcokaholic
      @dietcokaholic  Před 10 měsíci +5

      Drummer Louis Weaver, former frontman Greg x. volz, longtime keyboards- John Lawry, and long time bass Greg Bailey. There is actually two different Petra's right now. CPR Classic Petra Resuscitation (what you see here) and Petra. They are touring 50th anniversary with Bob Hartman, John Schlitt, Greg, John... It is baffling, a bit, and not sure what all is going on... some members are in both.

      @@PaulCarson5150hello, sir. Female vocalist and Petra fan, living in France, here. Where was this concert? Can I ask if you had a roll in the production/ managent, as well? (I am looking for to co write music, but that's maybe another story)
      Edit. I get it. This must be Ohio, America? 😬 (Not the Versailles, next to Paris) For a second, I hoped I would have some rock fellas in France🥺 here I am completely without church and musical co workers. Have my home studio but am really wondering what to do. Everything seems to be in U.S. And with the calamities etc, I am scared to death moving there. Don't know anything about your country, only that there are lots of churches and Christian musicians..

    Geez, Louie was a bit of a mess for this song. Some of those fills really didn’t land. Uncharacteristically sloppy playing for him, he is normally a very precise player

    • @gingervytis
      @gingervytis Před 2 měsíci +1

      Check out how he drags the slow 16'ths in "All Over Me." That track would have been much better played with subdivisions on the hat. From what little I've heard of Louie's later playing, he became a lot more stable with time and playing hundreds of shows each year. I played keyboards on the original recording.
