Wrong information ACCA is very knowledge providing and has equal and more opportunities than Indian CAs nowadays, it's important to work smart and gaining qualification which is demand rather than working hard and getting lesser or equal opportunities

What I see from the career's perspective, CA is probably one of the most overrated courses in India. I think its not that difficult but rather lengthy and since it involves article ship which again adds lengthiness to this course. So a student has no other option but to adopt smart study rather than hard work as there's so much to cover within a short span of time. When it comes to CPA, it's a globally recognised course for which a person has to take limited subjects to get certified. There's no article ship involved but it does require minimum experience which isn't mandatory for a few states in the US. Once you're into CPA, you will have to choose your state accounting board, and each state has their own requirements. ACCA on the other hand, works well in the europe. And for those who're gonna comment bullshit, I am a CA, CPA and CMA US so I know better than any other CA aspirant. :"
I also saw a few people asking CA plus other subjects so here's my take-
    1) CA + CFA = Do you wish to make a strong career in wealth management/financial planning?
    2) CA + CPA = Are you relocating to a different country? Or looking for a CPA client job offer in big 4 or somewhere else?
    3) CA + CMA = Wouldn't benefit much. I don't know why I did even enrol in this. But, I have seen people people getting offers in accounts jobs in some big BPOs @keyposition.
    4) CA + CS = Don't waste your time.
    5) Edit: CA + MBA = Good but depends from which college/university you wish to pursue this. Mostly people go to Bschools because of placements only or make strong connections so higher the rank that the MBA college has, higher is the chance that you would get huge placements and higher is the possibility that you would make strong connections.
    6) CA + ACCA - Again same as CA + CPA.
Based on my personal experience and opinion.

I don't agree with the fact that CA qualified are more refined than CPA or ACCA. I have an experience of over 5 years in EY global and what i have observed is most of the Indian CA do not even have good communication or auditing skills. Though there are some exceptions, who actually remembered what they have done in their articleship while most of have no idea about mitigating risks or sox procedures.

CA makes sense in 4 cases
    1) Economy - if you don't have a huge budget - CA is the only option
    2) Practice in India - specially tax practice
    3) Versatility - CA for a much lower cost offers you a lot of versatility similar to an MBA. You can take up roles in Management Consulting and Investment Banking or Finance or Industry apart from Practice or working in Accounting Firms. CPA and ACCA are very focused only on Auditing and Accounting and their scope is restricted to that. Moreover, CA can also be your entry ticket to a very good MBA School - ISB, IIM-B, IIM-C all have a history of preference to CAs.
    4) Language - If you don't have near native fluency in English, then CA is the only option that remains.
Honestly, if you have the funds and options - why go for ACCA or CPA? Get a BBA then get an MBA and you can work in a wide variety of roles.
It seems to me that if you have the desire specifically to work in India or work outside India in IFRS/USGAAP in Audit and Assurance/ Accounting then these courses make some sense.
The reason for the popularity of these alternate "CAs" is because of ICAI - both in the positive and negative sense.
Positive sense because the CA Certificate has quite a high level of prestige in India making it socially desirable on par with Doctor/IAS
Negative sense because the course is still structured so poorly that rote learning is the major component in it. And this is due to subjective papers being evaluated using keywords which are exactly the module language. A lot of students with poor english merely mug up and pass, while students with good comprehension and understanding struggle here.
The reluctance to shift to open book, adopt technology in evaluations and bring about better transparency and governance regarding the examination and evaluation process hurts the repute of the course. Several students develop the misapprehension that the course is too difficult or unfair when in reality it's merely vast and mostly easy - the difficulty is in the consistency of studying and retention strength.
If someone is truly searching for alternatives to the CA Course - I'll ask them - first understand the core work of a CA (Tax and Assurance) and decide whether you find that suitable. If you wish to do that and then have the financial resources - go for ACCA/CPA if you wish to work in Audit and Assurance.
If you don't find the work satisfying - better to go for another course - CFA/MBA/FRM etc.
Definitely don't let the potential salary and income form a major part of your decision making - if you have the skill then any of these degrees within their respective scopes will grant you the earnings that you merit. You should only look into whether the kind of work is actually in your interest.
    For Eg.
Personally, I am limited financially and I want to enter into Management Consulting having no interest in core CA Practice. Becoming a CA and obtaining a rank in CA Final is the best and cheapest route for me to enter into MBB and that's what I am doing.

Sir, both the qualification have there own recognition and importance . But the fact is that the Indian ca (ICAI) made it tough to clear not from the course content but due to the grouping system. And on the other hand ACCA made there courses much more applicative. The types of questions being asked in ACCA are much more application based questions.
But after all both the qualification named as a chartered accountant, both the qualification are very much rigorous and have their own importance in their respective field.
Pls dont demotivated the ACCA students.

@akhil Katoch, with US CPA/ACCA you can't practice in india. CA coruse is designed to practice in India not in SOX.
Most of the CA students do their schooling in local state course and not from CBSE or ICSE, due to which they lack communication in english. But you won't find the same who are from ICSE or CBSE. Don't blame CA course for this. If they really lack knowledge you can blame CA course.
Communication is just a matter of language. I work with clients across globe, everyone have different accent of English. No one bother about that.
I wonder why people in India judge about communication in english?
One thing you should understand you can't make introverts speak. And you can't stop extraverts.

      Cost: CA is better.
      Tenure: ACCA/CPA is better.
Scope in India: Starting package will be the same but eventually CAs will grow more than ACCA/CPA in India (in most cases). CA's signature has more powers than others and usually CAs are hired by Indian Companies, firms and Big 4s.
CA is cheaper and has more scope in India but it demands more time. So, if you are young you should definitely go for CA.

That's why I think if you are into that category then exploring the other career options like CPA or ACCA is best or maybe even MBA provided that you have a good financial condition
*Although CA is the best designation* but considering the difficulty and time consumption candidates do need to look out for the other career options
