    The MDA Labor Day Telethon was an enchanting yearly variety show that ran for half a century. Hosted for many years by Jerry Lewis, the telethon featured top stars from the world of music, comedy, and Broadway and was like no other show on earth.

    I heard a clip of Doc playing this on a clip of the Jack Jones show and it was superb however this time he absolutely nailed it. Doc was incredible under pressure. I’ve always felt the best way to handle pressure is be so solid that your ability carries you through the nerves. Doc took big chances and always pulled it off.

    Doc did a great job on this standard but - - listen to Bunny Berigan’s rendition - it will blow your mind.

    doc is one of the greats but i will always be in love with Al Hirt's version from the early 60's

    I love the trumpet & the singing, but I CAN'T STAND THE ARRANGEMENT!!! I heard Doc play the trumpet fanfare at Los Alamitos when I was in the Quarter Horse business & was racing one of my horses. He blew the high note!!! {probably because it was cold that night & he didn't have a chance to warm up}.
