Yup, the best hand cannon roll that I thought would never come back... is back, now with more consistency. I'm calling this HC the Surostringer. ITS GOT THE CONE COMBO I mentioned you can't farm this - there is a current method using non-dlc alternate platform & the throne world deepsight chests, but I mean there is no real intentional or even somewhat within normal confines of the game to farm this weapon.
I think bungie didn't put it in there in purpose. Having this good of a HC be Craftable right away might have some negative effects but I'm sure it'll be craftable soon
The other lost sectors that aren’t being used in the game should have legendarys you can farm from them like how they use to be just cycle out the weapons

If you decrypt these you get weapons or gear, the weapons you can get from this is known as the world loot pool. Also, your umbral emgrams can be used to get world loot pool weapons.
After seeing this hand cannon's perk list initially at the start of the season, I had a feeling this video was coming knowing your preferences mentioned in the Eyasluna video you did a bit back. As a big fan on consistency, my favorite hand cannon is Austringer. Still. I still have a Rangefinder +Eye of the Storm and an Eye of the Storm+Opening Shot one I pull out every so often. Hoping to score a Cantata with the latter. Time to "earn" it. lol
i got and extended barrel accurized rangefinder one. it hits the enemy for me basically. its so smooth and consistent and satisfying. i am using over my pali now cuz i amd bored of pali
I used the "question mark" or "vanilla" Hawkmoon and found it to be nasty. But I didn't realise that it is the most sensitive gun in Destiny's history, to recoil direction or that any other perk besides the blank "question mark" perk could roll differently. So having just bought Xur's first Hawkmoon and finding it to be a silky smooth death machine it is now my favourite gun in the game. But I have a beautiful roll of this Suros to use when I'm finally ready to put the Hawk down. I just... I had no idea.
I have the perfect roll you mention but with rangefinder instead. It’s insane how much range it has and eots is just the icing on the cake! I have 650+ kills with it so far and I’m in love!
Farming world drop weapons is even worse now since we don't have a node in the HELM for focusing into them. Maybe they'll add one in a later season, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.
I fell in love with this hand canon immediately. My first drop was rapid hit/ rangefinder with accurized rounds, range barrel and stability masterwork and as a console player that was perfect. Sucks I can’t craft it tho because it would be a good obsession.
May already have been mentioned but this is easily farmable using the cross save stadia method. Use cross save + stadia without dlc and you can farm throne world deep sight 3 chests to get only world drops. I got around 3 of these HCs in under an hour.
It's just so good. I got Fluted Barrel, appended mag, eye of the storm and opening shot with a range mw. It's a 4/5 roll for me, but the extra bullets are not the worst thing.
I agree more than you can imagine. This is the gun that made me actually enjoy hand cannons for the first time in my entire Destiny career. Don’t even have a good roll, it’s a conflicting Hipfire Grip/Rangefinder and I love it anyway.
I found one with Eye of the Storm and Timed Payload. I've been so busy trying to get all the stuff in the Throne World I haven't even tried it in PvP yet!
compulsive reloader is the best in slot for me when im using Cantata for pvp. When I know I'm gonna engage, I just shoot one round, reload quick and engage. Feels AMAZING.
I’ve never been a fan of hand cannons, just can’t get into using them in pvp. However, I do agree with consistency with weapons being most important. I invested into enhanced zen moment and enhanced rangefinder for the syncopation 390 pulse and it’s one of the most consistent legendaries I’ve ever used despite not having any damage perks. It’s fantastic
EotS/OS was all I needed to hear, but then add the foundry perk AND the seasonal mod that makes the foundry perk better?! Yea, easily the best hand cannon in the game right now.
Yeah I got Polygon Rifling/Full Bore. Went with Polygonal cause man Full Bore sucks. I was also trying to fit in an Artifice Helmet into my build so I could run artifact mod that increases the effect of Suros, and either 2 HC targeting or 1 HC and 1 shotgun. Edit: the rest of the perks were Accurized, EotS, Opening shot, Range MW

So both the Cantata and Crisis Inverted are arc, therefore smart players will equip the risk runner to counter them. Palindrome is void, so it is unaffected. There are other things in Destiny 2 that affect gameplay besides the perks on a weapon. Palindrome will still be a top-tier choice, despite everything mentioned in this video.
I swear I won't see Riskrunner in Crucible for a month or more, but the moment I put an Arc primary on there's a 100% chance there's somebody running it the next game! Lol

I have a 4/5 roll with arrowhead, accurized, eos, rangefinder, and a range masterwork. Even with the sub par barrel this thimgs hits for 34m. This is on the same level as my best pali.
The barrel actually isn’t sub par arguably because it makes the wonky recoil direction 100 which makes a significant difference to both input methods. Also a handling boost is always decent imo.
youi compared to Austringer : so:: just used d3gunsmith... austringer and this are almost identical if you stack up those paerks you mentioned... but this has the origin trait! i put extended/accurized/eye/opening and they both have impact 84, range 6, zoom 14, rpm 140, mag 11. stability: austringer 63 , cantata 56 handling: austringer 43, cantata 48 relaod 51 vs 50 aim assist: austringer 75, cantata 82 - and i felt this! recoil: austring 100, cantata 95. very similar stats to me.. andonce i got used to the recoil animation... loved it
My very first legendary witch queen drop was a rapid hit, opening shot, range masterwork. Fluted barrel and extended mag. Doesn't have the max range, but within range it is so consistent. I love it!
I have smallbore / accurized / eots / moving target with stability mw, it only has 31m range but it feels so good and so clean to shoot, its like flinch doesnt exist. I have god rolled austringer, fatebringer and palindrome (with HIR) and honestly this particular roll of cantata feels really really clean
I like the new omolon hc. The omolon trait gives it more stability and reload for the first 50% of the mag. That paired with heating up gives it so you get a kill with the first 5 shots you keep that stability. Pair that with range finder to fix its minor ranger problems and high cals to out duel the new suros unflinch propertys. And now we have a pretty nice dueling hc. Just a thought. But uh good luck rolling the dice to get this roll fellas... its got 12 perks in slot 4. And 11 perks in slot 3. As a replacement for heating up you can go rapid hit tho. Edit screw heating up/ rapid hit under preasure is allways active when omolon perk isnt. Its like a free 25 stability or something. Imo g-roll fullbore,range mw,rico's/highcals,underpressure, and your choice in the final collumn I would say range finder but some people hate the zoom. There is also multi kill clip if u think ur good. Or snapshot.
My first roll is hammer forged RR, moving target and rangefinder. Only bad thing was reload MW but the gun feels great. I loved JQK so I’m gonna spend some time with this one
You can make arguments about the obviously good perks on this gun, but this is one of those few guns where I look at the whole perk pool and see use for every single perk, that is nuts.
You can use the throne world deepsight tier 3 chest on another platform to farm world pool loot. The reason is that since you don't have witch queen the chest drop world loot instead of throne world weapons. If you're on PC just use the windows 10 version of destiny 2.
I managed to score a High Caliber/Eye of the Storm/Timed Payload roll, and it is NASTY. Only downside is that it has Stability as a masterwork. Thing still puts in work regardless!
I actually suck with hand cannons. I've never been able to use them in crucible. First game with this, got 28 defeats. Rapid hit/opening shot on console. Feels good to finally have a consistent hand cannon that just feels good.
Yeah I figured this video was coming. Saw this in Light.gg day 1, saw that it could roll Eye Of the Storm AND Opening Shot and thought "yep, Drew's gonna make a video on this one soon as he gets a good roll". Also to comment on that last bit, bout how this gun only drops from World Loot Pool. It seems like kind of a misstep from Bungie to introduce weapon crafting, this mechanic that lets us have a guaranteed way to get specific rolls on a weapon, turning a 1 in potentially infinite chance of making a build, to a tangible, just play the game a bunch and you'll get your godroll, to then release this awesome hand cannon with crazy perks and NOT make it craftable. It's not even focusable with umbrals, it's part of the World loot Pool. They revamped Banshee this season, and he doesn't even let you target for world pool items. I hope Bungie doesn't make this a habit, of releasing a really cracked weapon and then making it pure RNG to acquire instead of the crafting system that they just released and have been hyping up for Witch Queen release. Anyway, glad you got the roll this early in the season, and it's just as good as I thought it would be. Looking forward to getting a decent roll with Hip-fire, heres hoping I get one before it gets FOMO'd. Thanks for the video, looking forward to more as the meta starts to settle.
it has a weakness though. its arc, which means risk runner counters it pretty hard. i dont know why i always keep riskrunner in the back of my head at all times. maybe im just paranoid some one will use it against me when i use my darkest before, or this weapon.
Absolutely LOVE this HC....one of the most consistent guns ive ever used in PVP. Don’t sleep on stability on this gun, it makes huge a difference. Roll is corkscrew, tac mac, steady hands, rangefinder, stability mw. Consistent stats across the board and it is a gem!
It's crazy how the weapon drops vary from player to player. Because you feel like this gun is too rare but it was among the 1st few guns that I had to drop when playing this new season.After just a few minutes of use,it was replacing my previous main energy hand cannon(The Annual Skate). I absolutely love the Suros line of guns.At all times I make sure I have at least one Auto rifle,Hand Cannon,& Pulse Rifle in the kinetic & energy slots.That way I can have a hard hitting Hand Cannon for one & slot & a hot lead slingin auto or pulse rifle in the other. Then according to my mood I'll have a scout rifle and/or smg tossed into either or. My biggest issue is I get bored if I use the same gun too often.
So I managed to get three of this one.. Heating up + Focused Fire, Hip-fire Grip + Opening Shot, and Eye of the storm + opening shot. Got decently lucky ay
Strongly agree with your final comment. Bungie need to learn to respect player time investment by not putting guns like Cantata behind RNG. Trying to grab a good one is burning me out.

Yeah, you and every other pvp player in the game. I think pvp is the primary reason HC's aren't available to craft at the moment. It would literally be nothing but hunters using HC's and shotguns(even worse than it is now)

I'm not as annoyed by general fusions as I am by Lorentz specifically (which was "fixed" but still annoying as ever) and snipers, both of which can somehow kill instantly through flinch and multiple crits at any range. I suppose if everyone were using HC's the duels would be a little more evenly matched. Who knows? There may be too many variables to ever truly balance pvp.
Always loved Suros weapons and I'm so glad that we have this HC being that good, but after using for a while, I didn't feel that Cantata is better than Luna or Pali
I just got one to drop yesterday while doing strikes yesterday with eye of the storm and opening shot! Barrel is kinda average being corkscrew and a reload masterwork but no way I'm deleting it lol. Until I get a better one... if RNG ever blesses be with the exact roll and the barrel and master work I want that is
Haha 100% bro, this is the first weapon that I dropped in the expansion where it has not left my weapon slot. I have a heating up and Rangefinder roll and it is probably realistically the best hand Cannon I've ever used in Destiny.. and hand-cannons have always been my number one type of weapon I've used a lot of them.
correct me if i'm wrong on this one, but isnt any recoil direction ending in 5 already perfectly vertical so 10 more would do literally nothing? like that just seems like an thing that a d2 youtuber would know.
Depends on how you play. Personally, I think either hammerforged or extended for barrel, accurized, eots, opening shot, and a range/handling mw. That’s just me personally.
My first Cantata drop I got a Full Bore, Accurized, Steady Hands, Moving Target & a stability mw. Not exactly what I’m looking for, but a damn beast nonetheless.

why would you need more recoil direction when it’s at 85? when it’s already in a straight line going up the middle? you can easily go with hammerforged without losing any handling
Personally I think rapid hit moving target accuracy rounds and a stability master work with full bore is the god roll if you don’t need to crutch on opening or eye of the storm.
the EotS x OS combo is really strong and definitely makes this bad boy a contender among the best 140s but, I think ure overhyping the origin trait, atleast aslong as we dont know the bonus values it gives and how much the helmet mods increases those. also the bonus handling only affects ADS time which isnt really that useful? atleast thats how i see it :3
I managed to get a god roll with hammer forged, accurized, rapid hit, range finder and a handling masterwork. 34.25 meters of range. Don't know nor don't care how it feels, because I'm not a casual who plays Bungie's pet weapon meta 8 years on going.
I like this hc a lot. My current roll has extended barrel, accurized rounds, eye of the storm, timed payload, and a range mw. This gun is a monster lol.
i hated this gun when i picked it up... but it had that red flash.. so i HAD to use it to farm the materials for weapn sithing. By the time i had finished the farm.. i LOVED it. Mine has steady hands + timed payload. The recoil took getting used to... thats why i didnt like it. Once i had 100 kills with it (in pve) i was used to the recoil and its hit range and aa seemed way better than the stat said - to me that is. Im keepnig this one
Do you not feel that the handling bump for five seconds every time you reload actually adds an inconsistency in handling? As it is always changing, so it is potentially affecting muscle memory etc. I have a EOTS/OS roll and will give it a run out. Might go nicely with the wastelander. 🙂
I used this hand cannon... if you focus to hard on the new reload thing ... it tend it get you killed. Use it as a normal hand cannon. Also I heard mouse it amazing but on controller the recoil is nothing like Pali. For the easy heads after every shot

Hoping you and the guys talk about the choices of and lack of when it comes to weapon crafting. I imagine as Bungle often does they will release more later in later seasons. That doesn’t speak well to their faith in their own abilities to me of true.

Half way through this video I was a absolutely thinking of range finder rapid hit lol

The problem with any non one shot arc weapon is that there’s a hard counter to them

I think the reload master work might be good for the suros perk

I managed to score a High Caliber/Eye of the Storm/Timed Payload roll, and it is NASTY. Only downside is that it has Stability as a masterwork. Thing still puts in work regardless!

I actually suck with hand cannons. I've never been able to use them in crucible. First game with this, got 28 defeats. Rapid hit/opening shot on console. Feels good to finally have a consistent hand cannon that just feels good.

Yeah I figured this video was coming. Saw this in Light.gg day 1, saw that it could roll Eye Of the Storm AND Opening Shot and thought "yep, Drew's gonna make a video on this one soon as he gets a good roll". Also to comment on that last bit, bout how this gun only drops from World Loot Pool.
It seems like kind of a misstep from Bungie to introduce weapon crafting, this mechanic that lets us have a guaranteed way to get specific rolls on a weapon, turning a 1 in potentially infinite chance of making a build, to a tangible, just play the game a bunch and you'll get your godroll, to then release this awesome hand cannon with crazy perks and NOT make it craftable. It's not even focusable with umbrals, it's part of the World loot Pool. They revamped Banshee this season, and he doesn't even let you target for world pool items. I hope Bungie doesn't make this a habit, of releasing a really cracked weapon and then making it pure RNG to acquire instead of the crafting system that they just released and have been hyping up for Witch Queen release.
Anyway, glad you got the roll this early in the season, and it's just as good as I thought it would be. Looking forward to getting a decent roll with Hip-fire, heres hoping I get one before it gets FOMO'd. Thanks for the video, looking forward to more as the meta starts to settle.
Eye of the Storm + Range Finder here, and I'm never unequipping this thing lol. Really cool weapon. Feels nice.
My first roll of this hand cannon was Eye of the Storm + Opening Shot. It seems built for accuracy and consistency
it has a weakness though. its arc, which means risk runner counters it pretty hard. i dont know why i always keep riskrunner in the back of my head at all times. maybe im just paranoid some one will use it against me when i use my darkest before, or this weapon.
Don't sleep on the steady hands perk. It's a pseudo Quickdraw/snapshot to all your weapons after a kill.

This thing feels great... Been running 1 with timed payload... I get less flinch, they get extra. It's crazy!
Same perk, mine came with rapid hit.

Was attuning one with vorpal and eye of storm in Mayhem and it just shuts everyone down right quick.
Absolutely LOVE this HC....one of the most consistent guns ive ever used in PVP. Don’t sleep on stability on this gun, it makes huge a difference. Roll is corkscrew, tac mac, steady hands, rangefinder, stability mw. Consistent stats across the board and it is a gem!
It's crazy how the weapon drops vary from player to player. Because you feel like this gun is too rare but it was among the 1st few guns that I had to drop when playing this new season.After just a few minutes of use,it was replacing my previous main energy hand cannon(The Annual Skate).
I absolutely love the Suros line of guns.At all times I make sure I have at least one Auto rifle,Hand Cannon,& Pulse Rifle in the kinetic & energy slots.That way I can have a hard hitting Hand Cannon for one & slot & a hot lead slingin auto or pulse rifle in the other. Then according to my mood I'll have a scout rifle and/or smg tossed into either or.
My biggest issue is I get bored if I use the same gun too often.
So I managed to get three of this one.. Heating up + Focused Fire, Hip-fire Grip + Opening Shot, and Eye of the storm + opening shot. Got decently lucky ay
Strongly agree with your final comment. Bungie need to learn to respect player time investment by not putting guns like Cantata behind RNG. Trying to grab a good one is burning me out.
While I was watching this, all I could think about was seeing a video with your thoughts on the new IB 180 hand cannon. Touches people up to 32m away and can 2c1b with Kill Clip or Adagio? Intriguing.
Also agree with many comments here, I really wish this was craftable. This is the kind of weapon I'd put time in to perfect it.
Yeah, you and every other pvp player in the game. I think pvp is the primary reason HC's aren't available to craft at the moment. It would literally be nothing but hunters using HC's and shotguns(even worse than it is now)

I'm not as annoyed by general fusions as I am by Lorentz specifically (which was "fixed" but still annoying as ever) and snipers, both of which can somehow kill instantly through flinch and multiple crits at any range. I suppose if everyone were using HC's the duels would be a little more evenly matched. Who knows? There may be too many variables to ever truly balance pvp.
Always loved Suros weapons and I'm so glad that we have this HC being that good, but after using for a while, I didn't feel that Cantata is better than Luna or Pali

I just got one to drop yesterday while doing strikes yesterday with eye of the storm and opening shot! Barrel is kinda average being corkscrew and a reload masterwork but no way I'm deleting it lol. Until I get a better one... if RNG ever blesses be with the exact roll and the barrel and master work I want that is
Haha 100% bro, this is the first weapon that I dropped in the expansion where it has not left my weapon slot. I have a heating up and Rangefinder roll and it is probably realistically the best hand Cannon I've ever used in Destiny.. and hand-cannons have always been my number one type of weapon I've used a lot of them.
Full Bore > Accurized > Rapid Hit > Timed Payload > Handling MW and my lord does Timed Payload really destroy peoples aim

correct me if i'm wrong on this one, but isnt any recoil direction ending in 5 already perfectly vertical so 10 more would do literally nothing? like that just seems like an thing that a d2 youtuber would know.
It really is a great gun. The only thing that lets it down is the sound. I hate that finite impactor/anual skate sound.

Depends on how you play. Personally, I think either hammerforged or extended for barrel, accurized, eots, opening shot, and a range/handling mw. That’s just me personally.
My first Cantata drop I got a Full Bore, Accurized, Steady Hands, Moving Target & a stability mw. Not exactly what I’m looking for, but a damn beast nonetheless.

why would you need more recoil direction when it’s at 85? when it’s already in a straight line going up the middle? you can easily go with hammerforged without losing any handling

I got Hammer Forged, Accurized, Heating Up, Opening Shot, Range Masterwork. Only thing I would switch is Heating Up for Eye of the Storm
Annual skate can roll with no distractions but other than that I think you’re right
Personally I think rapid hit moving target accuracy rounds and a stability master work with full bore is the god roll if you don’t need to crutch on opening or eye of the storm.
When your second drop of this weapon is the god roll but you don't get a range masterwork...

I have gotten two frames for the gun. I think I am gonna do Explosive and Eye Of Storm or maybe Rapid Hit once I can craft the damn thing.

the EotS x OS combo is really strong and definitely makes this bad boy a contender among the best 140s
but, I think ure overhyping the origin trait, atleast aslong as we dont know the bonus values it gives and how much the helmet mods increases those. also the bonus handling only affects ADS time which isnt really that useful? atleast thats how i see it :3
This is the roll combination I’m hunting. Opening shoot gives you front end boosts and eye of the storms helps you at the end of your gun fight.

85 and 95 recoiled direction are exactly the same, just run hammer forged to dodge the handling penalty
I managed to get a god roll with hammer forged, accurized, rapid hit, range finder and a handling masterwork. 34.25 meters of range. Don't know nor don't care how it feels, because I'm not a casual who plays Bungie's pet weapon meta 8 years on going.
I got fluted, accurized, eye, opening, and range master pretty happy with it.

oh. I got the (very close) god roll, range mwork, eye of the storm, rangefinder, hammerforge and tact mag, and it's the first one I got too!
i hated this gun when i picked it up... but it had that red flash.. so i HAD to use it to farm the materials for weapn sithing. By the time i had finished the farm.. i LOVED it. Mine has steady hands + timed payload.
The recoil took getting used to... thats why i didnt like it. Once i had 100 kills with it (in pve) i was used to the recoil and its hit range and aa seemed way better than the stat said - to me that is.

Do you not feel that the handling bump for five seconds every time you reload actually adds an inconsistency in handling? As it is always changing, so it is potentially affecting muscle memory etc.
I have a EOTS/OS roll and will give it a run out. Might go nicely with the wastelander. 🙂
I used this hand cannon... if you focus to hard on the new reload thing ... it tend it get you killed. Use it as a normal hand cannon. Also I heard mouse it amazing but on controller the recoil is nothing like Pali. For the easy heads after every shot

Hoping you and the guys talk about the choices of and lack of when it comes to weapon crafting. I imagine as Bungle often does they will release more later in later seasons. That doesn’t speak well to their faith in their own abilities to me of true.
