    That post and its lights must be one of, if not the earliest one surviving in use. It would date back prior to 1960 when crossing signs (crossbucks) were wooden. I have seen a photo of this crossing at that time.

      I wouldnt doubt you on that one! Its the only one with the tall fenial and one of a few still with McK&H incandescents. Pity it’ll be gone soon. By the way, you have some amazing older footage, ive looked through your channel before and you’ve gotten some very cool stuff 👍👍

      @@ethanthevictorianrailfan7030 I took photos of most of the crossings between Dandenong and Pakenham in March 2020, shortly before lockdowns began. And paid special attention to that particular post.
      I do wonder if it'll go to someone/somewhere that appreciates it, or if it'll simply be scrapped.

      @@emdB67 Oh yeah awesome, i managed to get to the remaining crossings with a mate whos in Pakenham earlier this year, except Narre Warren.. Ive got a couple pictures of it but now that you've raised that, i should get closer ones.
      I really hope it goes to someone that'll take care of it, weather it be in parts or as a whole, but knowing LXRA it'll probably just go for scrap unfortunately.

    Why does the gate do that? The hinged piece is sticking out!

    • @ethanthevictorianrailfan7030
      @ethanthevictorianrailfan7030  Před rokem +5

      The gate hinges into the upside down L in the raised position because there is a bridge above. tHe crossing is soon to be removed, and the bridge above is the new rail bridge, so within the next year these signals will be ripped out and along with two other crossints, Pakenham will be Level Crossing Free. The gate does close over the closest track but it doesnt go anywhere, used to go into a yard which is all removed as thats where the new station is under construction

    • @ethanthevictorianrailfan7030

      The signal in this video has had LED’s for quite a while now, and only in the last few weeks has the gateless signal on the same side as hinged gate had a pair of its set of 4 lights recieved LED’s

    so nobody is talking about that the gate is a wishbone gate as well?

      All metro trains melbourne level crossings except for Railway Rd Eltham, Hope St Brunswick and the 5 occupational crossings between Diamond Creek and Wattle Glen have wooden wishbone gates. All of them. Its a nice feature about melbourne's crossings.

    What e-bells are there? I know for a fact the e-bell on the pole for the gate mechanism is a General Signal type 3, but what is that other e-bell?
