Should Career Mode players just play Football Manager?

- Why bother playing FIFA when you could just play FM. This is one of the most common comments on my videos. I’ve also seen the other side of the argument too, with career mode fans feeling sad that FM has features they’d love in career mode. I see why people post it, but it made me think, is there really room for both games, or should people just stick to one?
If you’ve clicked on this video, then I expect you know all about how career mode works. You pick a team, you decide tactics and then you play the match on the pitch. Football Manager is a bit different, because you’re never actually in control of the players. This makes the gameplay loop feel different, because your impact is solely in planning and strategy, rather than scoring goals and hitting the griddy on the AI.

I think everybody would agree that a game that had every aspect of FM but the ability to play games like EAFC would be the dream.
thats why its called football manager you manage the team not play

I recommend you go back and reread my comment as you’ve clearly misunderstood it.
@@Celery999 yeah sorry i misunderstood you dude. But there are people that say i wish fm can play the games lile fifa.. thats stupid thats why
Ah, Total Club Manager my beloved.
It used to have some cross play with FIFA 05 (if I remember right)
Yeah if you could combine the two, EAFC’s shitty gameplay could be excused
I actually play both. Fm when I want to manage and get into details and career mode when I just want to keep it simple and actually play the games
Football life/PES for gameplay instead of fifa

We should have a choice between hardcore CM and normal CM. That way people could choose what mode they wanted to play
Well, they don't want to make career mode better, because every minute spent in career mode is a minute not spent in FUT. So they lose money by developing it and by people not spending money in FUT...
NBA 2K has the different options like lite mode etc. So much better than FC
I can only speak for myself, I have no idea if this is a common feeling. But me personally, I can't ever consider switching exclusively to FM unless I can actually play the game.
I suppose as much as I want complexity in Career Mode, my main priority remains actually playing a football simulator, with (mostly) licensed teams.
I agree. I don’t love playing against the AI all the time in Fifa/FC but in FM I definitely miss the experience of actually getting to use my team and play with the team exactly how I want.
@@tateanderson213 because your bad
@@Mosballinsexy123it’s called having an opinion
@@Mosballinsexy123 Elaborate. You mean I’m bad at fifa? For thinking playing against the AI is stale and boring? Or I’m bad at FM? I’m confused
It's easy for me because all football simulators these days are bad gameplay wise, and offer nothing enjoyable. I'd rather set up tactics, scout players and plan 3 seasons ahead than just being able to actually play the games
I play both. I play FM because it has so many good features and realistic things, also editing new databases and scenarios is super easy which keeps the game fresh. But as someone who grew up playing PES and Fifa, there's nothing like switching off your brain for a while and just enjoy a more simple way to play the game.
Yeah this is it for me, sometimes I don't want to think and that's where EAFC comes in
Can't get 2 career mode seasons out of fifa.
But i can play the same save in fm for 15 career years.
I also just love developing wonder kids in fm than fifa.
I also switched to fm. Lots more variety
I switched to FM as it is more realistic such as National league and you can view cup draws.

I'm sorry, but no. Saying playing the game after 100 hours means it becomes easy cause the ai actions are built in for realism is just false. Every playthrough is different. If you get a save where brighton start challenging for the ucl and prem, they'll stop trying to buy low and sell high, and they'll start buying the high-quality players. There's so many different ways to play fm. Non-league to prem is one way, sure, but you can play build a nation as well. Starting in a low rated European nation and building your team up as well as helping the teams in your domestic competition to become regulars and competitive in European competitions. Rebuilt a sleeping giant. I've played FM for idk how many years now, and I've still got a lot to learn about the game considering it's evolution from year to year. Especially this year with the changes to how tactics and player movements are.
So no, FM is much better than fifa. That's coming from someone who grew up playing fifa. A game that has most of my good memories from my childhood, and here I am saying fifa is nowhere near as good as FM.
Yeah fm is so great… 🤦♂️🤦♂️

Even FM Touch on my Nintendo Switch is light years ahead of Career Mode, lol..
I have FM but I still play career mode still because it’s nice that I can actually play the game and not watch. And also it’s kinda easier sometimes but I do still really like FM and play it a ton.
PES better than fifa
the pure management and detail depth you get on FM is unmatched, but I've just never been able to commit to it because I can't relax by playing the game. After a day at uni/work, I use games to just chill out and have fun, and the sheer micromanagement you have to do in each aspect of FM (i know you can delegate things, but even then, you gotta manage a lot of data, etc
) can end up being overwhelming, rather than care-free (yet caring and passionate) nature of just playing a FIFA game and controlling the wonder kids
Thanks for the Video!
I think that EA need to focus on the following:
- Updating their Menu Screens
- Updating their 'Search Player' options and Player Profile Display. For example, we need to be able to choose whether we Scout, or have all ratings available (an on or off option). We need to be able to see if a player has 12 months left on contract if they are eg 'Showing Great Potential' etc; We need an indication with an 'RF' to know if the player has a 'Real Face'; and lastly, we need to be able to convince a player to NOT RETIRE, or if recently retired, to come out of retirement.
- MORE LEAGUES from MORE CONTINENTS making it more of a WORLD GAME. For example, include the AFRICAN FOOTBALL LEAGUE, and then include the Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) just to add a much deeper & broader element to our Manager Career Modes.
- Including a more in depth Manager Career Mode similar to Player Career Mode where we start with a team (or without) and navigate the World of Football with an Agent helping us to find and resign from teams (if we're not fired first) - This would make Manager Career Mode amazing as we could expand our reach in the game without getting bored.
- A greater variety of Create A Club options for LOGO Colours & Designs (especially for Console Users who can't MOD); More TEAM NICKNAME Options; ands the ability to UPDATE OBJECTIVES each season based on how your team is going
- More Managers to choose from that actually look like they do in real life. I don't know who is in charge of creating the Managers that haven't been scanned at EA, but they are really really bad (like they spent about 5 mins or less on them).
- Lastly... get the gameplay right; make it easier to change gameplan in game; have more set plays from Corners; and for the love of the good Lord, can we please see a different SUBSTITUTION cut scene!!
What are your thoughts? And how can we get EA to do any of the above?
Cheers
I think the most ideal fifa CM would be one that has more features than what we have now and at least some of the features that do exist being better, so that the ppl who want a better CM experience get that, while not going to the depth and complexity of FM so that casual players don't get turned off.
I think one other advantage FM has is the amount you can customise the game, you can have almost any league or even create crazy made up league systems with data packs. There's also all the editor features to basically set up the exact game you want.
I've been a career mode player for years but some of the game play this year, coupled with the criminal lack of work done on career mode made it immersion breaking for me. It just so happened that I picked up FM again at the same time after years not playing it. Every time I try to start a career mode, I'm sorry to say I get bored. I'm someone who likes realism and that's one area where there is just no comparision between the two
A buy-back clause in EAFC Career Mode. I go through so many academy players, that not all of them can make it to the first time, nor do they develop as good when just on loan
The answer is yes, but only if you’re actually playing for the management aspect not just to play through a season as your favourite team.
To be fair Garnacho in FC24 wouldn't go to MK dons. Multiple of the smaller clubs and leagues you can't buy cheap players from big clubs, it will say they are unwilling to move clubs when it shows their suggested transfer offer.
I play both. Played FM since the CM 01/02 days and I play Fifa when I want to get a release and actually play the games and have a different perspective
as a person who learned football manager & has never played career mode. i can kinda agree
As someone who only plays Fifa I definitely respect the commitment that FM players have, it kinda feels like a second job to me haha, you nailed it on the fact that Fifa is more accesible and easier to pick up because there's people like me that only want to play games.
Don't get me wrong EA needs a lot of work on the mode and FM gets a ton of stuff right, I can see why it is heavily liked, but as mentioned earlier there's a portion of people like me, that like the simpler option lmao
I also wouldn’t want every single option from FM in career mode.
Maybe a combination of finances, youth and league/club status.
Some debt would be cool, buying a stadium when you go from league 1 to PL.
A youth team where you can invest your money in and can let players play till they are 17-18.
And a uefa ranking so u don’t have to play preliminary rounds if u improve the league.
More incentive to sell players.
Even more options and it would a chore to play
I strongly believe that people want the FIFA games to be simpler but a little bit more smaller details to be added in; such as fan and media reactions to a new signing, match results, achievements and also a bit of insight of the dressing room buzzes among the players etc. In terms of transfer realism, it's just EA is lazy because I doubt that they're unable to create an ai logic which implies transfer logics such as English players usually unlikely to move out to a foreign league, certain clubs and leagues having preference of certain nationality of players, certain clubs preferring youth academy players, certain preferring buying youth players etc. Also getting better in depth analysis and suggestions from the assistant manager about the tactics, squad, training and scouts analysing the compatibility of a certain player etc. They're a large corporation and have every necessary resource to get these added but as mentioned before they're lazy.

been playing FM since the 90s i don't regret it all!
I get why people have different preferences on each game. But the constant ‘just play FM’ replies from some FM players is just annoying at this point. Can be so snobby & patronising about it
FM players think they are better than Career mode players for some reason like they think they are smarter for understanding it more or something
@@niamh9500 not all but yeah there’s a fair share of them. They can’t let people live in peace playing or talking about another game 😂
@@niamh9500Well, career mode is, sadly, quite crappy, so it actually is better to play FM than career mode, or poking a finger in your eye. But a good career mode would distract people from playing FUT and spending money on packs. We'll never get a proper career mode again, because it can't be packed with micro transactions...
Haven’t touched career mode since I got fm earlier this year
I play FM for the Polish Clubs. And it just feels a bit more in depth
How did you get around the AntiCheat without getting banned by EA? I moved to PC and wanna play career mode purely for mods. Some of them actually fix the game and make it better. Not just visuals but the gameplay itself.
What's your FM channel called?
Basically look at career mode gameplay. If it looks okay for you, then try out FM. If you think it's way too overwhelming, go back to career mode. If career mode gameplay looks extremely boring to you, then definitely check out FM. And especially stick with FM if the idea of getting more detailed info excites you
I played the first half on fc24 life then started playing fm. I tried playing fc career mode but I just couldn't
Personally I play both, when I fancy physically doing skills and making nasty tackles I play fifa. And when I fancy creating history and spending more time, I play my Gillingham career 15 years into FM.
I made the jump from fc24 to fm24, i haven't played fc24 i 4 months, i once opend the fc24 a few weeks ago, played one match and felt "let down" after playing so much fm24. Im going to play fm25 100% more then fc25, i dont think that i will buy fc25
All i want on fifa career mode is just a setting to turn off sacking
I genuinely don’t understand why you can’t just turn it off, you can literally turn off getting fired in other EA sports games. Tbh the idea of a board that can be quick to sack you isn’t really the most unrealistic thing but it’s completely broken. The goals are nonsensical and you can do literally almost all of them and the board will still put you in the red because you missed one that makes zero sense for what you’re trying to do. It just baffles my mind how lazy these people are.

Even though i only play FM i aggree, except for one case, if you wanna play the format in multiplayer choose FM
😂😂😂 I rearly use the scouts in Fifa, I practically rely on them in FM bc there is not overalls and I love that
I've gotten to the point where the two games aren't even comparable anymore. FM is just sooooooo much better in every single way. The only thing it doesn't have is controlling the players. Also, due to the FM community, modders and editors, there is almost a never ending supply of tools to tailor the experience exactly to you liking. One or two FREE downloads make the game fully licensed and super realistic which just makes the experience so imersive and challenging. I also think the point of FM havjnv feagures bo kne knows about or doesnt undertand just adds to the realism as there is so many variables in life that you shouldnt know everything. Constantly learn and adapt and. However with Fifa it's a case of you play it EAs way (if you even can with all the glitches) or you don't play it at all. No growth or learning, just pick a team in League 2 and win everything and have the best team in the world after 5 seasons. Fun, but gets boring VERY quick
Use to love career mode back in the day but its been the victim of EA's negligence of the game mode, its been the same for almost over ten years. The same argument can be made for FM but with FM, the game is more complex and has way more depth, I'll always remember when I won the champions league with Barry Town or winning the prem with Merthyr over a handful of repetitive games I played with some random team on career mode. FM has more room for fun stories than career mode will ever have
Can you do a player career mode and make it can Anthony martial become the best player in the world
Ea graphics with fm gameplay would be perfect
I personally havent played football manager and why I probably woudnt play it is because I like controlling my players and also the fact that with most teams I woudnt be able to sign players I know and enjoy watching irl ruins it.

I would love to switch to fm, but I hate that every result comes down to simulation. You could have great tactics but lose anyways because of stupid last minute goals. I currently play ea fc 24 on console, I will eventually switch to pc to use mods which is probably the best way to play. With mods there’s more realism similar to fm, and you have more control. With that being said I can’t wait to do a rtg with Bromley FC (Is there a mod out there to add the newly promoted teams to League 2?)

That's why it's realistic. Not everything goes your way all the time, and most times you can't change the outcome, only influence things to be in your favour as much as possible and hope for the best

I'm saying this 1 second into the video, but as someone who has played FIFA starting with 07, then all the way through 14, then played PES for the next 6 years before going back to FIFA & has refused to buy EAFC after playing the 10-hour trial & has also started playing the last 2 iterations of Football Manager:
The answer is YES.
At first, I missed playing as the players & controlling them directly. But, FM really challenges you & your skill at building teams, setting structure, recruitment, etc. Not only that, but you can delegate pretty much everything you don't want to control or also do absolutely everything if you want to. It's a beautiful thing!
For me, FM has too much detail, it’s not visually appealing, and I want to be able to play. Career mode doesn’t have enough detail and has too many bugs, but I love being able to play. I want a middle ground between the two

Just play fm
As someone that has 0 interest in playing football manager and has played more career mode than almost anyone (not exaggerating), I get somewhat annoyed by all of the realism complaints about career mode. The best part about career mode is you can play almost however you want. Making up your own rules but not being restricted by the rules of the game is what keeps it fresh. The biggest feature that draws my attention to FM is that the save lasts indefinitely which is appealing because the 15 year limit in Fifa is what holds it back the most.
You know that with the free pre-game editor, you can literally make FM whatever you want it to be? If you ever do pick up FM, I suggest using it if you want to spice things up
