Astitwar Xonka- A Poem by Manjula Hazarika

'Astitwar Xonka' written by Manjula Hazarika and narrated by Srutimala Duara highlights the dilemmas of the individuals belonging to the indigenous communities of the state of Assam. Throughout the process of formation of the state and its identity, the citizens have struggled with these dilemmas. The poem takes us through this journey all the way from the Oxomiya Bhaxa Andolon (Assamese Language Movement) which fought for the Assamese language, followed by Oxom Andolon (Assam Movement/Agitation) which dealt with the issue of undocumented immigrants, the separatist movements of Assam, until the very recent time focussing on the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and the Anti-CAA movement, to uphold the Assam Accord. While all of these ongoing struggles were stemming from the idea of socio-political and cultural identity, understanding of a nation-state boundary and a sense of belongingness, these people had to face a new enemy, invisible to naked eye; the corona virus. Amidst this global pandemic, one comes to realise that after all the struggle for categorised, compartmentalised yet overlapping identities on the basis of political boundaries; everybody is in the same boat in middle of an ocean without any boundaries separating us from each other as the virus continues to attack relentlessly with no political boundary of a nation-state containing it.(Please use headphones or earphones for a better effect)

অসমীয়া জাতিয়ে ১৮২৬ চনৰ পৰা অৰ্থাৎ প্ৰায় ২০০ বছৰ ধৰি অস্তিত্বৰ শংকাত ভুগি আছে , অৱশ্যে ইয়াৰ মাজতে বহু যুদ্ধ-বিগ্ৰহ কৰি অসমীয়া জাতি সবল ৰূপত জীয়াই আছে । ঘটনাবহুল এই দীঘলীয়া সময় খিনি অতি চমূকৈ কবি মঞ্জুলা হাজৰিকাই পৰিপক্ক ভাবে তেখেতৰ ' অস্তিত্বৰ শংকা ' কবিতাৰ জৰিয়তে উত্থাপন কৰিছে । আবৃত্তিকাৰ শ্ৰুতিমালা দুৱৰাই সাৱলীলভাৱে কবিতাটি পৰিবেশন কৰিছে । মন চুই গ'ল -দীপাঙ্ক হাজৰিকা , অধ্যক্ষ , প্ৰাগজ্যোতি কমিউনিকেশ্যনচ্ ।
