Just putting this out there that regardless if Bama wins UGA is Vulnerable. Oregon and Michigan have been beaten by Bama and UGA last few years prepared their teams for this moment. For some reason I feel like Bama would beat them but not UGA. Something about the way UGA is on offense that screams to me that Oregon would like a grudge match. Michigan,UGA,Oregon,Alabama Best 4 rn in everyone’s heart of hearts. You only take Texas standing in a week 2 that really doesn’t mean that much this is why. Texas hasn’t managed to beat any ranked team that mattered to the CFP and now can’t beat an Opponent in top 15. Every other team left in the journey can beat a top 15 team at least for the conference championship. OSU doesn’t matter to the committee I’m sorry. Texas just should’ve beat Oklahoma you can’t say well Bama should’ve beat Texas at home well Bama can still got beat a team ranked in the top 2 for a conference championship and Texas cannot and that’s gotta count for something more then week 2 it’s a conference championship you had to run table to get to.
Then which conference champion is lost impressive? Well if Oregon wins then and if Bama wins them over a OSU. Those wins are way too strong. Beating top 4 opponents late when it matters for all the marbles. Texas doesn’t have the ability to do that late and yes it should cost them. That’s life it’s not fair. It’s not everybody else’s fault that Theyre conferences top 2 were super strong. It’s been other years where others were left out like that. Texas has never proven they belong on this stage by winning one week 2 game. The merit every other team that argues against is they have been they’re before multiple times or been on verge. Oregon is always in the conversation. Texas has never even been in a serious conversation until week 2 Alabama happened and it’s annoying. They played like shit every week until last week with team that played hard hitter on Kansas. Not impressed.
If you can have me call in on your show I have a system I can show you why regardless of anything Texas has done it’s just not as impressive going down the line team by team in the top 8. They have they weakest resume in my personal opinion hanging on week 2 Alabama if they were 1 loss Texas that didn’t beat Alabama they wouldn’t even be in top 10 barely cause they hanging on to 7 by threads in weakest conference of teams left standing vying for a spot besides FSU who’s out
FSU’s defense is a hundred times better than TCU’s defense from last year.
Still needs to get 100,000x better to have a chance. Yes a chance at UGA. FSU fan base is almost Tennessee like with the number of casual clowns who have barely followed the sport since the crab leg stealing qb was at the helm.

@954Seminole. did UGA sit 75% of their passing offense? Yep. BOWERS Ra Ra and McConkey. Along with Ratledge. We were up 31-13 before we put in even more back ups. We also ran the ball and kept it real vanilla on defense especially. The game was never in doubt, not for a second. But you didn't watch it bc you were watching your farce of a team.
Just giving credit to FSU. This team always finds a way to win. That’s the mark of a real program. Regardless of what happens the rest of this season, Florida State is back.

The double standard is crazy- Georgia, Washington, Alabama, and FSU all played comparable teams this weekend and FSU won by the largest margin. Also, the only one of those teams to cover the spread.

We likely boat race them with Mertz as well, Brown has way more mobility than Mertz which not only attributed to his run plays but also causes issues when defending the running game. Thanks for the FSU congrats. FSU isn't 95 Nebraska, but a 12-0 team, who beat two SEC teams in the non-conference, deserves some positive commentary.
Longtime FSU fan here: I don’t particularly care about the cfb playoffs at this stage. It’s house money to me. This team has gone far and away above my expectations this season. We are 12-0. That’s absurd. Is the team flawed? Of course. Most are. But losing JT is a pretty big deal. We can ask the backup to not lose the game and that works against undisciplined bad teams. Probably not against playoff teams. Unless they advance greatly this weekend at the QB position (which could be possible with Tate as he’s been there a while)…I’m just focused on this weekend. After that- whatever. I’m loving this team.
I only care about making the playoffs now that Travis is out. Being able to say we were in the mix at the beginning and the end of the 4 team playoff era would be a good recruiting pitch against the in state rivals who have been irrelevant nationally since its inception.

I see Tates performance getting better. A big rivalry game at the swamp for his first start is super tough. And Florida was playing 100 with nothing to lose. Louisville isn't a rivalry game and Tate has beat them before. He's got the first game jitters out of the way and it's gonna be a neutral site

As a FSU fan, I wanna thank you for your sentiments, because honestly people have been trying to find a way to write us off ever since we played Clemson and well before Jordan Travis got injured. And since they’re advocating for Texas to be out as well and Alabama to be put in over them, I hope it’s Texas and FSU that ends up in the national title game.
Love your show Josh. You and every other analyst will owe Florida State a public apology when the smoke clears. Herbstreit was saying we didn't deserve to be in before Jordan Travis got hurt. This team has guts, heart, and this team responds. They aren't going to get blown out in the playoff by anybody even with a backup QB.
That's what good teams are about heart and that's what Norvell keeps saying how proud he is because the guys just keep fighting. Georgia, Michigan, Oregon, Washington to anyone can lose on any given weekend and that has been shown. Been shown. I fully believe FSU is capable of beating any of those teams. Besides, I think prediction shows are funny. They rarely come true and I'm pretty sure this guy picked Florida State to lose to LSU and Clemson and be two and two to begin the season. Equating TCU to FSU is insane. TCU has never been at the forefront of college football. The level of talent on 2023 FSU is much higher than 2022 TCU (#20 team talent vs #32). Only 4 of FSUs 12 wins have been by 10 or less compared to 8/12 for 2022 TCU.
Plus our defense is better than TCU

The difference between a good coach and a bad coach was evident in this game. UF DOMINATED the entire first half. Norvell made the appropriate adjustments based on what he saw and what he had available to him and Napier didn't adjust at all. Billy made stupid decisions and proved he has NO CLUE how to run an offense.
FSU went on a 24-3 run after one of the most bone-headed "trick-play" calls I've seen from Sunbelt Billy so far. Every time he pulls that garbage out way too early in a close game, it ruins every ounce of moment UF has.
100% All he had to do was push forward after a safety and keep the pressure, run out the 1st half and go in up 15 or 19 points. But Nooooooo, not Billy Boy, he had to get fancy and killed it. Then he feels pressured to strike fast the entire 2nd half. The guy needs to get an OC because his tail will be in the unemployment line next year.
i agree norvell is a better coach but he also made some headscratching moves during that game too. that timeout he called with 20 seconds left in the half? what was that? if they were playing a better team they could've put up points there. FSU has made great adjustments all year. Their 4th quarter defense is legit.
Not sure I would go that far. It shouldve been 8-7 at halftime. Coaching certainly became evident in the second half but the first half was a byproduct of two QBs looking completely lost sans 2-3 throws from each QB.
@@rickyrougs UF was pinned deep on their side of the field initially he was coaching to try and get a FG in before the half at least and momentum getting the ball back after the half. There was a missed hold on that play the big run broke off but that happens to both teams and unfortunately was one of those occasions. Offensive minded/aggressive coach he is always gonna try to get the ball if he can. A lot of drives this season have scored in 1-3 plays.
Officials definitely kept UF in it early, that’s been every game this season though. It’s probably gonna be worse officiating this weekend.

I didn’t understand that decision. Norvell knows how important it is to win by as many points as possible (especially this late in the season). I thought you weren’t supposed to have any mercy on your rivals anyway. Really wish Norvell had tried to put more points up when he had the chance. When the whole country is rooting against you you’ve got to win by as much as possible.

What I don't get is all the down talk on Tate. I am not saying he is as good as Travis, but when he came in 2 weeks ago against a FCS team we put up 58 points. This week our spread against UF our rival was 6.5 we won by 9.
And should have been 4 less points by Florida(so 13 point win) as the refs gave them a TD instead of the attempted field goal with that insane roughing the passer call on the sack...ludicrous call. Tate needs to get much better quickly, the defense is great, but a playoff team will still score plenty.

Finally a fair assessment of FSU, most fans don’t think we have a realistic chance to win a playoff game (except against Washington). But at 13-0 we’ve earned a shot. Also I might sound crazy, but if Brock somehow plays I like our chances even more.

i agree with your assessment about Napier. He seems like he's a good coach who cares, but something isn't clicking with the rest of the staff. Like, there's a disconnect where his message to the team isn't resonating but getting diluted. it doesn't seem like there's much accountability.

To be fair, this is actually Florida’s first time missing a bowl since 2017. It’s not their 3rd year in a row missing one as Josh stated. FSU missed a bowl 3 out of 4 seasons from 2018-2021. Let’s see if Florida can rebuild in a similar manner as FSU did.

I don’t think even fans of FSU believe they’re going to be able to win the championship. We all hope, but we understand that without Travis, it’s almost impossible to beat a team like Georgia. It would’ve been a tall order anyway. But it’s been a great season and it’s an awesome team. You have to be happy about where they’re out right now.
I think those of us that watch the games and see the halftime adjustments as well, we know that FSU’s defense can keep them in a game with anyone regardless of who is at QB. Alot of games come down to one play and defense wins championships.
@@JackpotJ the defense has been really good. It’s also played a ton of really bad or backup QBs for a long time now. The OL often struggles to run the ball against defenses that aren’t very good. Then it will break a few long runs for TDs.
Look, I’m not saying it’s impossible. But if you think Georgia wouldn’t be favored by 10-14 against FSU without Jordan, you’re just wrong. Michigan would be a better matchup because I don’t believe in their offense. But it would be a struggle for FSU to score against them.

Backups or not they’re talented Klubnik was a 5 star out of high school they’re just intent on being stubborn and not using him to his strengths. Riley Leonard held in check to probably his worst game of the year.
FSU defense is #1 in completions allowed/completion percentage, tied at #2 for pass TDs allowed. I get the QB statement but there’s a few big names on that list.
Would UGA be favored by that much absolutely, I don’t think they’d cover though.

I actually dont think FSU gets blown out in the playoffs. I think that defense will do enough to keep it within 7-10 points, but they just dont have the open playbook anymore to beat a competent defense like Michigan or UGA... but still dont think its a blow out. TCU was well-coached and had pockets of talent but not the weapons FSU has. I could see them being 3 and paired with Michigan... maybe a 31 to 24 type game.

@@detectif1061we arent going toe to toe at the line though. Our D keeps us in the game but the Oline struggled with pocket contain against UNA and some weak teams this year. Unless Tate has an epiphany and sees the game at full speed which he didnt do this weekend, we arent beating Michigan either. Ill take Washington, but the rankings for round 1 wont land that way.
But who knows, one big injury for either of those three teams and it tilts the scales back.

Not a Florida fan here, but the big and tall FSU receivers pushed and grabbed all night and Florida was every single time called for PI. Florida shot themselves in the foot and got buried in injuries in real time, as the game was being played. When you have no RBs and you're playing a backup QB, South Carolina or Vanderbilt beats you at that point.

The only bad call in the game against Florida was that PI on Keon Coleman towards the end of the game. And that was to make up for the embarrassing roughing the passer call that gifted Florida their only touchdown of the game.

FSU is clearly not a dominant team on either side of the ball, but they appear to be the best in the nation at halftime adjustments right now. Their slow starts on offense always make the opposing defenses look All-Conference. Their defense seems to take a series or two to figure things out, but enough to stay in striking distance. And a football program IS a reflection of their Head Coach. UF is undisciplined and thugish, as evidenced by the multiple player ejections (both DBs should've been ejected for the hit on the sliding QB.)

I don't think Florida and Louisville are all that different talent-wise. If the FSU defense holds up, they can absolutely win the ACC champ game and make it to the CFP.
Louisville has a better HC which is why I'd pick them in the ACC championship game. Florida purely lost due to coaching, they had the opportunity to end things in the first half against FSU but didn't go for the kill.

My 'Noles remind me of the 2014 team - before losing Jordan Travis - they were good but not great. I think folks are right about the playoffs - the 'Noles are resilient and tough but without Travis they will probably get blown out. But no one expected a 12-0 regular season - grateful for what they have accomplished. Go 'Noles.

No. But... a better performance than what Bama, Georgia, or Washington did!!!... and, the comments?... "the ACC is soft, a rather unimpressive struggle for the young backup QB"
That's what media/ESPN bias will give you. Oh, and BTW, the *ONLY TD* UF scored was on a total BS fake roughness penalty against FSU to give the gators a new set of downs on the goal line, when in reality, there was no penalty and they were stopped on 3rd down. UGA decided to sit 4 of 11 offensive starters including 75% of their passing game production...(Bowers, RaRa, McConkey, Ratledge) and still was up 31-13 prior to even more reserve players entering on both sides of the ball. @ChrisWrightDVM UGA is the best team no doubt and it's really not close but they can still get beat on any given Saturday. Teams get better or worse over the season. UGA has improved tremendously. I'd love to see FSU host Mizzou, host ole miss and travel to Neyland on a 3 game stretch. Probably 1-2 after that and maybe 0-3.

In the eyes of the committee -this iteration of the FSU football team hasn't beaten anyone but North Bama & Florida. Florida( UGA crushed when UF still had life!) is a non bowl game quality program and you didn't exactly light them up. If things don't go well vs Louisville (Lost to UK who UGA destroyed as well) and you just squeak by them... I'd bet you're on the sidelines watching the CFP. I don't think FSU sucks. Too true about Florida. Our teams have unfortunately not improved through the season. It seems like adjustments aren’t made. We have had only one complete game all year. Very disappointing, because this is not what Napier is about

Napier is a G5 level of HC but he'd be a top 10 OC in the P5...he just doesn't have the "it" factor to develop & MANAGE talent. Same thing with Mario but he's a better recruiter than Napier but Napier is definitely the better play caller of the 2. If this performance doesn't show that FSU has earned a spot and is a Top 4 team then I don't know what you are watching, compared especially to UW who neither had backup QBs and played an inferior oppenent at home. This team is the epitome and definition of a team that never quits and plays for each other. Depending on how Conference Championship weekend goes, there is going to be some serious chaos. I truly see UGA beating Alabama, Michigan handling Iowa and FSU beating UL......I see Oregon beating UW, UT beating OSU which would make the arguement between UT and UO........nothing about UT scares anyone but that Oregon offense if they get in would be insane.
