      @@sleepinglioness5754 the current President, Father Dave Pivonka , is very good and in my opinion, one very holy man. The previous President Father Sheridan stepped down under pressure from parents, the community, and Church Militant who helped expose some controversy about an English Department teacher who assigned questionable materials concerning Mary, the mother of God, Some sinister stuff. Also, there was a priest who was there who wasto no good as well. Im not sure whose watch he fell under.. His last name was Tiesi. Alot of information can be found online (youtube videos and the like) if you care to follow-up. I believe this place, Franciscan University of Steubenville, to one of the very best places to study in America if you want to hold on to your faith and just as important, develop it. I say this with all conviction.

    Thomas Aquinas College certainly deserves to be on this list. My four years there were the happiest years of my life. There, the Catholic faith is practiced as it was always meant to be. Priests, religious, philosophers, theologians, and -- dare I say -- saints are formed there, and they are by no means a rarity. We don't have any canonized saints yet, but I have great faith that those of our college family who have passed before us are presently in heaven, or else well on their way. The presence of God across the college grounds is utterly undeniable; it is as unmistakable as the heat of summer or the cold of winter. One day the Catholic Church will triumph over the wickedness of the world, and Thomas Aquinas College offers a preview of what that will look like. It is paradise on earth.

But Jesus will find you wherever you are. My best friend Jim kept pestering me to join his fraternity. There were some ex- seminarians in there & they were on the cutting edge of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal. I found the Lord there. Keep up the good work. It was many years ago when I chose a small previously all male Benedictine College. I was looking at student to teacher ratio. I also remember how much I enjoyed the short time I spent in primary parochial school. As a military dependent, it was the only time it was available. I do understand the idea of youth looking for a place where Faith is nourished. What I remembered about the parochial school was morning Mass before class. Since I was responsible for my own college expenses, I am thankful I was able to attend the small college I did. While tuition was higher, room and board actually brought costs to little more than that of going to a larger state college.

    Father, my daughter just finished her freshman year at Franciscan. She had been entirely homeschooled. This school is the answer to our prayers. While quite expensive, we are quite poor, but are managing through God's generous Provision. There is a chapel with the blessed sacrament in her dorm! She also was recruited to be in charge of the nursing home ministry. She said that they must go early to liturgies (such as Holy Week) to get a good seat! She will travel to Pittsburgh with other students to Latin Mass. She has not only maintained her values, they have thrived and grown! Praise God for this school. Yes, Father, there is hope! There are blessed places to go to college! And their souls are thriving.

      I know there is a very active and excellent Newman Center at McGill. My daughter made many life-long friends there. Their pro-life speakers in the early 2000s were rudely disrupted with pro-abortion gangs trying to shut them down and throw them off campus. These disruptors even insisted McGill University disband the pro-life group, which McGill did not do, thus demonstrating McGill understood Academic Freedom (Kudos to McGill). Sadly, Trudeau's government is doubling down on arresting people for exercising their right to practice their religion. The government is even persecuting faithful Catholics for exercising their right to free speech. I am Canadian and I am very sad for this trend in our country. I hope there are still active Newman Centers across the country--Canada needs them.

      Not necessarily true. My daughter has been in public schools trying to evangelize for the past 10 years. With the Lords help she’s done an amazing job. She is now a senior in high school and needs her batteries recharged. She’s been pummeled by secularism and the constant uphill battle. She wants to surround herself with Christ, his Blessed Mother and the sacraments and devotional life of a truly Catholic School. Then her plan is to get back to the fight. So I consider her a true apostle who wants to be nearer the Lord than she’s ever been yet, with a font of Catholic knowledge you won’t get anywhere else.

    • @rjc199
      @rjc199 Před 4 lety +5

      Totally naive and bogus idea. Catholic colleges are for forming young people to become educated Christians. The student must be formed with the truth and proven capable before he can fight error on the battlefield of the world. Sending a young adult to a pagan institution is like sending a military recruit without training or a weapon to war. It's homicide. It's a sin. First form the recruit into a capable warrior, and then send him to the battlefield where he will succeed and win.

    • @jenhaganey
      @jenhaganey Před 4 lety +5

      A true apostle of Christ knows that we are many parts of one body ...not all are called to evangelize public schools ... Also choosing a Catholic school over a public school can be in itself an act of evangelization telling others your faith is the most important aspect of your education.

    • @richolon4648
      @richolon4648 Před 4 lety +3

      Bad idea. That's like sending a teen off to be a life guard before they can swim - you're setting them up for failure. Few teens can survive four years of peer pressure that's constantly pulling them away from Christ. We send teens off to college because we recognize that they aren't fully formed or educated yet and need four more years. Why would you think that they are fully formed and educated in the faith and can live without community? They have their entire life to do what you suggest. The majority of teens need those four years to make the faith their own and grow in their knowledge and love of Christ. Why do you think so many Confirmed Catholics are leaving the faith during and immediately after college? Because they weren't prepared for what they faced at secular institutions; because they had people like you whispering bad foolish ideas to them when they were making their college choices.

      Inês Regina Krupa Catholic Education is for Catholics, rich or poor, period! I have my personal reservations on non-Catholic children enrolled in Catholic schools because aged l know of at least more than one non-Catholic who were educated in Catholic schools, to turn against the Catholic Church/Catholics, and it is quite sad. In Oceania, Baptised Catholics are given top priority for enrolment in Catholic schools followed by non-baptised Catholics. Non-Catholics are the very last in line to be accepted, depending on their family’s religion/ religious upbringing. It would be best to home-school kids for religious reasons, and home schooling is cheaper than going to a school that doesn’t always impart true solid Catholic foundations for kids, such as how understand virtue, self-sacrifice, penance and prayer life. There was a non-Catholic teacher teaching in a Catholic school, who had never touched Mass or the Catholic Church.....it was a school Mass in the large Catholic Church. Her students who were 7 at the time, would observe her when it was time to stand, or sit or kneel. It was during the consecration of the Eurcharist, that the teacher, who was sitting at the front, didn’t notice anything different, sat on the pew along with her students, with the exception of a few Catholic kids who looked behind seeing everyone on their knees, that they did the same. When the teacher noticed the priest looking st her during the consecration, she looked over opposite her & realised the embarrassment & kneeled just as the consecration was about to end...the students followed in unison. This never happened when it used to be Catholic religious Sisters/Brothers who taught in many Catholic schools in the bygone years. Laity taking over, schoolss, l think, a bit of a disaster, in particular those who are non-Catholic!

    Fr. Mark this is awesome information that we all need to know especially for young families that have children that are discerning vocations. I wish I knew this when we sent our son to the minor seminary of the Legionaries of Christ. He suffered three years of torture with them trough brain washing when he actually wanted to come home after three months! They told him “Lost Vocation Sure Damnation” Fr. Marciel Marcle was an evil unrepentant homosexual and died in Florida as his alternate personality of Joe and kicked out all the priests and asked for his wife from Spain to be present at his deathbed! My son no longer practices the Catholic faith because of the damage they the Legionaries did to him😢 can you blame him? We’ve brought him to many therapists in St. Louis and they all Failed US🥵😢🙏

It was on a utube shown that the priest was doing rap dance after Mass ( such a high standard holy priest) and now they invite the Abomination desolation Cupich to give a talk at their school. It only teaches modernist theology not a traditional Catholic faith.

When I went there in the late 80’s-early 90’s, it was run by a bunch of dissident nuns (of course no habits, advocated for women priests, etc). It had almost no Catholic identity whatsoever, and it’s even worse now. Stay away.

    When the Benedictines at Most Holy Family Monastery [these actually hold and teach the TRUE Catholic faith] open a Catholic College it will deserve a recommendation; sadly, at this time ALL others in existence are pseudo-catholic or COUNTERFEIT. . .this comment may offend some, but this is the purpose of it! Do some research, YOUR soul & the souls of your children depend on it.
