    • @duffman18
      @duffman18 Před 5 lety +13

      There's absolutely times when filming vertically is better. Plus, when viewing on phones or tablets, they fill the entire screen when watching them. But yeah, if the stuff that's in the video is more vertically oriented, why would you films horizontally and have loads of empty space on the left and right, when you could fill the entire screen with what you're trying to film and then when watching them back it'll be zoomed in, instead of zoomed out if it was filmed horizontally. It all depends on what you're filming. Like it's better to film vertically if say you're filming a human dancing, cos then the vertical nature of humans standing up means they can fill the whole frame and you get a more zoomed in view of them, instead of again having wasted empty space on the sides
      However the absolute worst thing is adding shit to the sides of a vertical video so it has to be viewed horizontally but is just zoomed out because of it. That infuriates me. Cos even in CZcams a vertical video can be viewed full screen on a phone or tablet with no wasted empty space, so why would you add shit to the sides so that that isn't possible anymore? So dumb

    • @pixels_per_inch
      @pixels_per_inch Před 5 lety +6

    I don't care what aspect ratio people use... as long as they don't hardcode letterboxes into the media and the video players are properly aspect ratio agnostic.
    For instance:
    I have a 21:9 monitor.
    When I open Netflix, ALL of their content is 16:9.
    What did netflix do to movies supplied to them in widescreen formats? They LETTERBOX them to 16:9.
    So when I watch a movie on netflix, I get to see a 21:9 movie, with black bars on top to make it 16:9, and then again with black bars on the sides because said 16:9 image is smaller than my 21:9 monitor. I.e. in the end MORE THAN HALF OF MY SCREEN IS PITCH BLACK!!!!!!!!!! *insert autistic screeching here*
    This.... This bullshit here.... This is why we can't have nice things. (I hate Netflix)
