the book thief stole my heart. pun intended.
I love The Fault in Our Stars...With someone diagnosed with the same thing as Hazel, (thyroid cancer) I relate well to her.
I'm so sorry to hear that! I know it seems stupid to say this but I really do hope that you feel as good as you can be and stay strong and keep reading!
How are you doing?
As of right now I'm doing great! I still have issues but I got an endo appointment coming up. Thanks so much for asking.
+Brittany Eddings I'm glad :) Good luck!!
Thank you! (:
Yeah, the hardcover edition is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!
UGH DONT EVEN. THE ENDING OF ELEANOR AND PARK
The Night Circus is so perfect!
The Fault in My Stars was so spoiled for me that by the time I read it, it felt like I had already read it ten times so it wasn't enjoyable!!! I was so mad at tumblr for spoiling it.
YEAH! I absolutely love it, it's one of my favourites!
It's SUPPOSED to be a series now (but who knows if it'll ever actually happen) which is why I didn't include it
Yeah I know a lot of people who have shied away from it due to the subject matter, which I completely understand, especially for people who could relate to it on such a level that it hits home a little too hard
Oooh thanks for the suggestion, definitely going to check it out!
Late to comment (new to your channel!), but I must say I am SO GLAD you love The Book Thief, too. I've been feeling isolated in that lately. Yay Book Thief!
You can tell all the feels she got filming this video. Like she almost burst into tears talking about tfios.
3 books I REALLY recommend to everyone: 'The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao' by Junot Diaz, 'The House of the Spirits' and 'The Infinite Plan' by Isabel Allende. Phenomenal books!!
The fault in our stars was seriously one of the best books I've ever read. I didn't go into it expected much, but I left it in tears. John green writes with immense power
It's so much fun being so red!!
The Book Thief is my favorite book ever too. I cry so hard every single time I read it.
I am reading eleanor and parl because of you . I absolutely adore it. It makes you feel so cozy.
I just ordered 5 of your recommendations on Amazon set to arrive on Thursday! :D
Ashley Moure Hahaha yay! I hope you like them all :D Have you gotten around to reading any yet?
I did :) finished them all. They were all pretty good but I have to say Wonder and Eleanor & Park were my favorites. They were all great for getting me out of my book funk after reading Allegiant.
Oh good! haha I thought I was the only one :D
I've read 70% of the list and im so proud yayyy I loved loved all those books!!
I read "The Lover's Dictionary" by David Levithan, and it's really good!
We had to read wonder last year for our classes on anti-bullying and omfg It was amazing
YES THE MOVIE ERMAGERD IT'LL BE FANTASMIC
I loved The Book Thief! It was an excellent read.
Lol, I am 1 year late but I just bought The Book Thief ^^
And also reading 'The curious incident of the dog in the night-time', (only on 15th page) but I loved this quote : 'Prime numbers are what is left when you have taken all the patterns away. I think prime numbers are like life. They are very logical but you could never work out the rules, even if you spent all your time thinking about them,'
^-^
I loved Perks of Being a Wallflower, Eleanor & Park (my favorite book!), and The Book Thief!
Well, I really loved The Hundred Year Old Man Who Climbed Out Of The Window And Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson, Girl With A Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier and Memoirs Of A Geisha by Arthur Golden
If we're talking favorite standalones, there're three that are some of my absolute favorites: Five Flavors of Dumb by Antony John, Between You & Me by Marisa Calin, and My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick. FF is about a girl named Piper, who's deaf. She ends up managing a band called Dumb. BY&M is about a girl named Phyre, who develops a massive crush on her new drama teacher. It's told in script format. MLND is about a girl named Samantha who falls in love w/ the boy next door. All rock
I just want to say that I love watching your videos because you are so down to earth! So many booktubers come off as obnoxious. You are a breath of fresh air :)
I definitely agree with you, the book thief is my favorite book ever!
Thank you for mentioning the book thief. I loved it. Definately one of my fav book
When you were holding The Book Thief I was like "Is that her nail polish on the cover"
Coincidence?
;)
You should read The lovely bones by Alice Sebold! It's about a girl that gets taken and murdered by a man from her neighborhood (this is not a spoiler) and she tells about life after her death. It's a beautiful book!
omg I so need to read that! it's sounds amazing holy crap
equestriangurl It's so so so good! One of my favorites
equestriangurl I'm surprised you haven't heard of it. It was made into a movie awhile ago.
Eleanor and Park it one book that I want to read so badly along with Fangirl.
I'm currently reading the book thief ! It's beautiful
I'm absolutely elated that your favourite book is The Book Thief because it's certainly mine for 2013! Glad to hear so many other people enjoying such a fantastic, historical novel :) and the film! I cannot wait for the film now :')
I love Wonder its one of my favourite stand alones too. I really liked Summer.
The fault in our stars is my favorite book. And I'm currently reading wonder and I love it
Yay! You've picked so many of my favourites. Including TFIOS, The Princess Bride, Stolen. I'm totally interested in making my own video about my own favourites now. You've inspired me! -Michelle
Thank you!!
The Night Circus! Yes! It took my breath away.
I loved The Night Circus! I'd really love to get myself a hardcover because I have the paperback edition.
A few of my favorite stand-alones are The Flamenco Academy by Sarah Bird, Railsea by China Mieville, and Zorro by Isabel Allende. Also loved The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson and The Bells by Richard Harvell.
Yeah I don't usually lend books, but they were to my best friends who know how I treat my books. They know that if they ruin my books they buy me a new one ;)
Wow! I read stolen about three years ago too, I know it sounds weird, but it made me cry sooo much!
I was so happy when you mentioned Stolen cause it's one of my favourite books!
I'm planning on it! But I think it'll be later in the year
Ooooh Myyyy Goooood The Night Circus. Favourite. Stand Alone. Ever
Stephen King's IT is phenomenal. Just the picture it paints of small town childhood is riveting. And the characters are unforgettable. I also enjoyed the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Dracula by Bram Stoker is a great classic.
I read Wonder too, and I absolutely loved it. I also cried more than I thought that I would. But it was amazing!
I really hope you enjoy them! Ooh I read Thirteen Reasons Why ages ago! Was really good :D
i LOVE YOUR HAIR COLOR. Not a lot of people can pull that color off.
Also great books
Am I the only one who didn't like The Fault In Our Stars? I mean, I admit that the writing is good, but it just wasn't my thing, I guess.
+Mariyah Targaryen Taylor You're not alone! I didn't like it at all! :/
I loved it but I think that most of the criticism John Green's books get is totally accurate and it just depends on whether you like that kind of thing.
me.too
Tyler Taylor four years late, but I didn’t enjoy the fault in our stars, because of the writing. I just can’t get into John Green’s writing
Yay thank you! I've had so much fun doing VEDO but goodness, I'm running out of steam and ideas...
Yes, The Princess Bride is so fun! Not enough people read it.
by the angel! 'eleanor & park' and 'the fault in our stars' are both some of my fav stand alone too!
the book thief is so amazing!!
Yeah :) I just did a NaNo video yesterday!
I loved The Fault In Our Stars. I couldn't put it down!
I haven't read the Book Thief yet but I did buy it and it is sitting on my shelf looking beautiful. Right now I'm reading Fangirl, my first Rainbow Rowell book and I am totally adoring it. People say they like Eleanor & Park better so I can't wait to read that one! The Fault in Our Stars is one of my favorite stand alones ever! I haven't read too many stand alines/contemparary but I will.
I 💜💜💜 The Night Circus...I didn't want it to end!
I really want to read The Fault in Our Stars, Eleanor and Park, and The Book Thief!
Thanks for the recommendation! Don't think I've heard of either :)
Have you ever read The Host? It's my all time favorite book, it's so completely unique in story line, and the characters are incredible and memorable, and the setting is awesome, it's just amazing! I really loved the portrayal of human nature and psychology from an alien standpoint, and how the characters grow throughout the story. It's got a bit of (sort of) Stockholm Syndrome too, LOL
I feel like stand alones are kind of 'rare' these days because a lot of books comes out in trilogies!
But some of my favourite stand alones are 'The Fault in Our Stars' and 'Paper Towns' by John Green, 'Life of Pi' by Yann Martel and 'Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close' by Jonathan Safran Foer
I LUV THE FAULT IN OUR STARS!
No but I just recently bought it :) Looking forward to getting to it!
When I read Living dead girl I did not get out of bed all day. I had to read it from morning till night and I rarely read a book in a day.
I love that cover of The Night Circus
I love listening to people describe books because they have to be so vague
Lots of my favourites in here as well, and all the other ones are on my TBR. I LOVED Wonder. So beautiful and touching, and I don't hear about it enough on here, so I'm glad to see that one included. I'm also very fascinated by Stockholm Syndrome! The novel I'm writing deals with it as well, and it's very challenging to write, but so interesting to imagine! Can't wait to read Stolen!
book thief is one of my best reads.
For the past few years my favorite book has been Ways To Live Forever by Sally Nichols, I have read it at least once every year since I bought it, and I cry every time. Its amazing.
Naaaaw, "The Perks of Being a Wallflower"
I wonder if she's read the Cellar. That book messed with my brain!
Loved The Book Thief too! Such a great book. I loved the characters so much. Definitely need to read a few of the books you suggested.
i just love E&P, The Perks.., TFIOS, Wonder so.. i really need a bookstore NOW! I have to buy the others! i love your hair:') Greetings from México! XOXO, Pao.
Thank you!! I've been looking for stand alones
The Night Circus is one of my all time favourite books!!!
I've just bought let it snow from Amazon by John Green, once it's arrived I will have a full collection of John Green books.
I only just finished the Book Thief and gods....... I died. It was so interestingly written, as it's not actually from the characters point of view and we get a few looks into the future, which are so unexpected and sad. The ending is perfect and the way it ends on that line was lovely. I cried so many times, as it's such a heart breaking story and it goes into some very dark themes that just make you love the characters more and that makes the ending so much sadder.
Star Wars Darth Plageuis is my favorite :P
My favorite book of all time is TFIOS, I read it back in 2012 and I adored it even though I didn't think it would be my type of book.
I wish you had gave a little info on what each book was about as well but I'm definitely going to be buying a few of your recommendations this week, can't wait!
Just started reading Fault in Our Stars. Two pages in and I know it's going to bring me down.
Amazing top 10 list :D My all time favorite book is The Perks Of Being A Wallflower but The Fault In Our Stars is also on my top 10.
The most unique stand alone I've read this year is Wildwing. My actual favorite this year? Eleanor & Park. My favorite of all time? Ehhh, probably any Jane Austen really. Most of my stand alones take the form of classic literature.
This is so hard since most of my favorites are parts of series! I literally can only think of two: Deerskin by Robin McKinley and The Host by Stephenie Meyer.
Stolen seems so intriguing! I'd love to check it out soon! The Lover's Dictionary is hastiy added to my to-read list as well!
Some of my favorite stand-alones include Breathing Underwater by Alex Flinn and Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher.
I loved The Night Circus, good choice.
Uh great choices! I read the lovers dictionary in a visit to a bookstore!so good!
Heck yes for the Book Thief! Personally, the movie didn't quite do it justice! One of my top favorite stand alones too :)
Do you mean more about my wrap ups? Have you seen my reviews? Cos in my reviews I talk about the synopsis then go into detail about certain traits and qualities I do and don't like about the main characters, and the writing style and everything...
YES PERKS! OF! BEING A FUKING WALLFLOWER!!!
I'm listening to the audio version of The Book Thief these days, it is wonderful! Good list in general, several of those are my favorites too :)
The Book Thief is the next novel I'm reading after I finish Chamber of Secrets for the dozenth time. My favourite novel is Watership Down by Richard Adams and I'd recommend it to anyone.
The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay.
I read it back in May and I still can't stop thinking about it! I reread it in August and I'm thinking of reading it again now. It's such an beautiful book
I really love ur hair
excited to check some of these out
I read Living Dead Girl right after watching this video. OMG, it's amazing, finished it in one day. Amazing.
One of mine would definitely be A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness :) You can get through that easily in one sitting too, it's amazing
I absolutely LOVED the Unwind Dystology by Neal Shusterman. I highly recommend it :)
gahhhhh....I could listen to you review books all day! That voice :)
