I’d argue that Mephiles killing Sonic should rank higher since
1. Sonic was technically resurrected rather than a Miracle Max moment so Mephiles actually did kill Sonic
2. Mephiles took this route to cap off his reign of terror across the timeline.
3. This leads to Solaris nearly destroying the entire multiverse
how about scourge coming back to his home universe possibly killing his dad and taking over as king in the archie comics
@@josephproctor1757There are creepier ones, such as Naugus and Snively taking over as the main antagonists in the end of Sonic SATAM and planning to burn Knothole in the cancelled episodes, The Enerjak Comics, Dark Legion, Mammoth Mogul, Finitevus and their Destructix having the abilities to destroy the multiverse just like Mephiles, Roboticisations in Archie, Satam and Metal Virus Saga (Metal Virus functions similar to Archie Roboticisers), Rapist Starline (Starline told Mr Tinker/Eggman to just lie back, relax and think of Eggmanland which is similar to the "Lie back and think of England" rape mantra and him doing sexually suggestive experiments on Surge and Kit while they were n*&e), Sonic Other M in Archie Sonic (especially the Tyrant Rapist Knuckles part), and many more examples
I would have thought that your third point would have been a full segment for this video, maybe even the number one spot. If we'd combine it with Mephiles killing Sonic, then, well, I still (obviously) think it should have the #1 position.

I agree with this list, only I would've put Mephiles killing Sonic at the darkest end!
But why?
Because he killed Sonic in a very cowardly fashion then laughed manically when Elise started crying, which resulted in him finally being able to merge with Iblis to become Solaris and destroy time and space leaving nothing but darkness. His permanent defeat resulted in a time reset where he no longer exists and this made Elise really upset as her encounter with Sonic never happened but she accepted it anyway.
Same here. Destroying all of existence in a way that nothing ever even came into existence in the first place compared to the destruction of a single city or tribal group of people?
If Sonic being kissed by Elise isn't on here this list is inaccurate.

7:12 Fun Fact: Mephiles was originally gonna be the villain in Sonic Forces, which in my opinion, is a better option than Infinite due to Mephiles being such an interesting villain.
In my opinion, Mephiles destroying the multiverse is the darkest moment due to killing pretty much everything.
Check the forces trailers. Infinite was supposed to be the most powerful villain yet, his power was supposed to be, well. INFINITE. But the game was still not finished in the dead line, so they had to start rushing the project and, there goes all the goodness
The worst thing to happen is when a character that didn't do anything wrong gets killed. : (
It is also terrible when characters that wanted to do good later turn evil.

Technically, Elise kissing Sonic's dead body would be classified as one of those 'squick'/cringe moments. Eggman 'pissing' on the moon.....idk. But Dark Gaia's transformation into Perfect Dark Gaia does.

Imprisonment in a badnik is like Imprisonment in the matrix films without being in the simulation world. Fleetway Robotnik tried to use people to power a computer and if it had been successful the people would be trapped permanently as part of the computer because there wouldn't be any way to save them other than death. Thankfully Super Sonic stopped it by accidently creating an EMP blast while escaping his prison so he could kill Sonic and everyone on the planet after toying with them a bit, since Super Sonic is a Sadist and likes hurt people before he kills them.

I was watching this, and all of these scenes are terrifying (they better not have Shadow killing everyone with a gun in Sonic 3 😅). Can you Mario moments darkest next?
I would possibly like to have seen a few 'suggested' dark moments on this list. These would be things that we either know happened, but we're not sure about the details. The exact circumstances on Maria's death would've been one of these, only in that Shadow's game revealed that it was clearly not an accident. Head Cannon: the government suddenly changed its mind about Project Shadow because of a turnover election. If that were to be the case, then Maria was literally murdered by politics and the arguing of political parties and the rulers of the people she loved so much.
Another possibly dark moment, though it's probably more of a mystery than outright dark, is Sonic's origin story. Yeah he's the fastest thing alive, but how? Why? Where are his parents? Sonic is usually portrayed as having a pretty tragic if not violent backstory, when he has a back story at all. In the games, there is none... but there may be a hint. At the end of SA2, Shadow literally asks Sonic "What are you?" and Sonic's reply is simple but nothing to inspire confidence. "What you see is what you get... just a guy who loves adventure." This line could mean a few things, and sadly we are never given any answers. 1. The comment is literal in that Sonic doesn't even know. He doesn't have a backstory: he doesn't know why he's so fast and powerful, etc. 2. This comment is a lie. Sonic knows very well where and what he came from, but not necessarily why. This is what we'd expect to hear from a dude who has a secret identity that only his parents and family members know who might not even realize that he's Sonic (Niki the Hedgehog), or an orphan who just so happens to be gifted (cinematic universe), or anything in between. Finally, 3. Sonic is literally an escaped science experiment, possibly another scientist's attempted continuation of Project Shadow or even the next generation prototype. He has all of Shadow's abilities, even Chaos Control! And no matter how far ahead Shadow starts in SA2 and beyond, Sonic always somehow manages to catch up to him. If this theory were true, I would find it hard to believe that Sonic knows the truth based on the thoughts he was having in that exploding space capsule. Also if this is the case, it would leave a question as to who created him. It can't be Eggman, because if it were then it would stand to reason that Eggman would have some way to control him, and the evidence suggesting that Eggman is toying with Sonic's lie of a life is very slim. Eggman has attempted to kill Sonic multiple times over the years, and while I would love to explore this theory further, there are other matters that more urgently require my attention.

While your theory is creative and imaginative, Sonic's backstory is more known than you think. In a Sonic the Hedgehog guide, Sonic the Hedgehog Technical Files, which is based on writings by Sega of Japan and is canonical to the games, Sonic is said to have been born on Christmas Island, where he was raised by owls and at only 11 years old, he left the island to pursue dangerous adventures. Now, Sonic being a biological experiement could make sense, seeing as Christmas Island is based on the real-life island in Kiribati named Kiritimati, sometimes called Christmas Island, not to be confused with the Australian island of the same name. Kiritimati has been used as a nuclear testing ground by both the United Kingdom and the United States. The reason Sonic was raised by owls is hard to tell, maybe Sonic got seperated with his own family, his family was killed. We could connect The Sonic Bible into this, made by Sega of America to create a backstory for Sonic, later to be retconned by this guide. In The Sonic Bible, Sonic had a big family, a mother a father and a multitude of sisters. When Sonic was only a baby, his father died by falling into toxic waste caused by pollution. Maybe in the current canon, Sonic's whole family fell into that toxic waste, but who knows, anything could have happened, but that's just a theory, a game theory! Sorry...
Head Canon: Maria was killed because the GUN soldier we saw shoot her got desperate, and Maria getting killed wasn't part of the plan. This is kind of the case in Sonic X, where we see the guy who did it and feeling all guilty and what not saying something along the lines of that.
Personally, I feel like you did an ok job at arranging this list. One that probably should have been added is the Sonic 2 Bad Ending. But not the Genisis version. That one was pretty lighthearted, but the Gamegear version wasn't as lighthearted. In the good ending, we see Sonic and Tails just running alongside each other, just being friends. But the bad ending shows Sonic running alone. The story of the game is that Tails is kidnapped, and Sonic has to go and save the kid from Robotnik. But in the bad ending, it's presumed that Tails wasn't able to be saved and was maybe killed by Eggman. Not only was Sonic running alone, but once he's finished running, he looks up into the sky and sees a constellation that's in the shape of Tails. While I wouldn't say it goes above Maria, it could probably tie with Gerald, maybe go over his death as Tails was a lot more innocent at that time. It also isn't confirmed that Tails dies, but the evidence (Sonic running alone only in the bad ending, the constellation in the shape of Tails, what the main goal of the story is) really makes you think he's dead. Which is why I say this should've probably been on the list.

It's not beastiality since Sonic is an anthropomorphic hedgehog. But that's not to say that I'm defending this disgusting, abominable, kiss scene. It's messed up on so many levels. While not per say a dark moment, it would be more like one of those 'squick' moments.

In most cases, there is a long list of ideas already written down. While we want to get to everyone's ideas ASAP, there are usually a lot of them that already are being worked on, so it may be a while before one in particular is done. Other factors include which writers know a lot about various topics, what their personal schedules are, etc.

probably my opinion only, but the echidna tribe disappearing because of Chaos, and the cause about it being their self-interest it's actually a good reason and it's better than Chaos doing such thing for any other reason. The reason is very real and we can see something alike in our reality, how being greedy about an objective can screw up much people's lives, also shows that intents can resonate to the master emerald, just like what happens to the chaos emeralds (when used with good intent, their form disappear, when used with bad intent, their colours disappear)

The Shadow game like a child who tries too hard to convince people they're mature when in reality, though, the kid is just immature and silly. Which I think describes the game perfectly. As it can come ascross as untentionally funny at times.
