  • In Georgia, you cannot remain in the left lane if you are not actively passing somebody or about to take a left exit, no matter the speed limit. GSP is enforcing this rule, as this Casteel heating guy who had the left lane locked down found out. Prius drivers, beware.

It's been on the books for years but it's very hard to prove.
With speeding you have a radar that says you're going 82 in a 60 Zone.
What following too closely you have a distance that people know X number of car lengths and with failure to use a signal that's pretty clear as well whereas somebody saying that they are passing in the passing lane but they're only going 1 mile an hour faster than the car they're passing would reasonably be determined by law enforcement to be not passing while the driver of the car that's passing is trying hard not to break the speed limit.
People don't realize because they don't read the law they don't realize that you're supposed to speed up all your pass. And it's not speeding if it's temporary for safety sake and if it's a situation where it would be determined speeding then you don't need to be passing there

For Three-Lane Roads, if they sat in the right lane, then sometimes it's very hard to move over for merging traffic or emergency vehicles... because you have those idiots that like to ride in your blind spot or ride right next to you. And then sometimes the stars will align against you and you'll also have the idiot on the on-ramp who doesn't know how to merge... or didn't know he was supposed to use the on-ramp to accelerate to traffic speed... which case, you'll be fucked into slamming on your brakes because he just cut you off.
So for three & four lane roads... yeah, left lanes for passing, middle for large trucks, right for merging and slow people.
For two lanes roads, we don't have the same luxury... so yeah, left-lane is still passing only... gotta stay right. For people merging... you just have to hope they know how to merge or move left if possible.. pass the merge, then move right again.

It's always a relief to see words like yours that are based on someone (you) thinking and driving consciously, so for that I want to shake your hand and say thank you.
I'm also hoping that because you think, that you will hear me and understand that we cannot consider changing driving habits because of the amount of lanes on a given roadway. I very much appreciate and respect your thoughtfully being conscious of your driving and about appropriate lane usage and traffic and ramps etc. but in between where the ramps are, you cannot allow yourself to justify such difficulty changing lanes. Did it could cause inappropriate lane usage. (which I've been ticketed for twice)
yes it is difficult sometimes but the only real difficulty in changing lanes exist when you travel the same speed as traffic next to you.
As a safe and conscious driver this should be your number one priority, among all of the rules of the rules of the road, you must for safety most adamantly fight against traveling the same speed as any traffic next to you and to not allow conditions to exist where the right lane becomes perpetually and repeatedly empty and unused but from a safety standpoint and as the tax dollars cost us into the tens of billions per lane when you look at that right lane nationally.
and how many people refuse to use it and keep making excuses to avoid using it.
If you start looking into the rules of the road you will find it 80% let me repeat that number 80% of the rules on the road or to reinforce drive to the right-most Lane and passed to the left and we spend millions of dollars every year making new laws to reiterate this most Bass driving law of all of our laws, drive on the right, pass to the left.
We cannot allow the difficulty of driving to allow us to do things like getting in a lane and stay there.
We must above all else drive with due diligence.
Regarding the specific video this is not a three lane road it's a two-lane road at has no middle lane that you spoke of and the reference to possibly being in the left lane to avoid on ramp traffic also does not apply as there are no on ramps anywhere in the area yes there is one coming up on the horizon but he was already in the left lane way too soon for that to be a factor as well as he needs to be out of the way of faster traffic until he gets to that ramp area and not cause people to pass them on the ride or cause them to be in the right lane that he himself feel this need for traffic to avoid.
That said, more people need to have your attitude of driving without being unnecessarily pushy to other drivers and make merging room where it's obviously needed but we still must find a way to get back into that right lane and not allow ourselves to ignorantly try to get in some lane and stay there or ever avoid using appropriate lanes.
Once again I must say that you deserve commendation for appropriately and properly respecting on ramp merging and thinking about all such things in general and I wish more drivers on the road had your type of attitude.
Thank you for being a conscious driver my friend.

We used to do that on I-80 over the Sierra Nevada mountains before Caltrans finally spent close to a billion rebuilding the freeway with new concrete. Most folks would shift over to the left lane and ride it, due to the severe wheel dip in the right lane from nearly 50 years of the original concrete not ever having been resurfaced or repaved. Was super annoying to deal with but thankfully, that situation no longer exists.

Told me I was only going to have to "just get back over later so why merge right in the first place". He finally got into some gridlocked situations and has since changed his tune about the right lane. He never drove slow (in his mind it is the Indy 500 every day) but he did cruise in the left lane.

So keep out of there lane or they will run you off the road with there trucks. If you want drive safely and at the speed limit then don't drive in that lane

    • @pacovasda5955
      @pacovasda5955 Před 6 lety

One of the worst crimes on the road and what enforcement is trying to enforce is to keep people from trying to get into a lane and "stay there" the term driving with due diligence means driving with due diligence it means not allowing yourself getting a line and stay there but rather to pay attention to ever-evolving conditions. If you get a ticket for failure to drive the due diligence it's because you allowed yourself to slow down when you catch up to slower traffic rather than following a reasonable distance where you can signal and go around when you see them slowing down. Once you get around them you need to move back to the far-right the law does not mention left lanes the law mentions the rightmost lane and passing to the left.
Keep right except to pass has the word KEEP in it which means stay all the way right unless you are passing and the word EXCEPT to pass means "except to pass"
THE LEFT lane has nothing to do with anything.
Any and every lane to the left of the right-most lane is a left lane. further left lanes are for faster passing.
Most states laws will clarify the only temporary reasons for temporarily being out of the right-most lane but the law does not allow for traveling in the middle or left lanes.
the law says travel in the right-most lane pass to the left and return to the right so be aware on a four-lane Interstate you can be arrested for traveling in the second, third or 4th lane even if there's no other traffic on the road at all. And if you don't believe me just ask CZcams You'll see videos on that as well.
