In the game files, CA has categories for all heroes that don't exactly follow the same icons. The categories off the top of my head are: Spy, Champion, Dignitary (these three are re-used from as far back as Rome II), Wizard, Engineer, and Runesmith. There is no way in game to tell which hero belongs to which category though most of the time, the heroes do fit where you think they would. For example, the Empire Captain and Wight King are both "champions" in the game files which makes sense as they are general purpose melee heroes, but the Empire Witch Hunter and Vampire Banshee are both Considered Spies despite the Witch Hunter being cleanse corruption and the Banshee being growth.
This is the breakdown if anyone is curious for their own campaign:
Champion : Dark Elf Master, Skaven Chieftain, Tomb Prince, Chorf Bull Centaur, Mourngul Haunter, Exalted Hero, Empire Captain, Thane, Paladin, Gore Bull, Branch Wraith, Saurus Scar Veteran, Black Orc Big Boss, High Elf Nobles, Wight King

that's really helpful, ty. i wonder if you could save the stolen hero and then recruit it if you have the capacity of that type the same way you can with regular saved hero.

@@niofo7713 I'm not sure if you could. The game enforces your hero type normally by associating a category, i.e. Champion, with specific culture and unit type, i.e. Empire, Empire Captain. I'm not saying it won't work, but that is how the game files look at it.
I'm thinking the cultists came later in development at CA, and so by the time they were ready to assign the cultists to categories, the Bloodreaper had already taken the dignitary spot. The category the hero is in has absolutely no bearing whatsoever on the hero's passive effects, campaign abilities, or skills. Those are handled by other tables associated to the unit type.
The banshee and Witch hunter makes sense since while yes, their passives are diferent, their other hero skills are the same and they serve the same purpose

I think it’s pretty easy to get yourself a vassel as skarbrand. In one game I gave repanse a worthless minor settlement and while the military option alliance was like -300, becoming my vassel was +25. Same with the dwarfs
I vassalied Malekith as Archaon in basically the same way. I just wanted to sell him a small city.

Since the Nurgle Champions were stolen from a vassal, maybe the AI didnt allocate points into the regen ability. Havent played in a while, but I think you can only pick one of the 3 skills in each row and since he got it from the AI at level 20, the AI mightve just never allocated a point into Locus of Fecundity. Maybe he just included them to show you the intended idea
Yep! You get those abilities available i think at either rank 12 or 5 but its definitely before rank 20, this is why i love the one button respec mod makes it so you can just change what the ai choose .

Tell you who you can vassalize tho...chaos dwarves end game faction XD was in multi-player game with my buddy and they captured their first settlement i recaptured it as kholek and it gave me ability to vassalize the entire end game

There's a khorne axe that can give you up to +300% base and piercing damage the more entities you kill so you can get Skarbrand to 8K damage easy. That would be beyond excessive.
its probably not worth losing the spell from sword of khaine though unless you wanna turn him into a lord sniper but even with 115% ward save he can do that too just with less damage

He still need something to kill things en masse, so sword of Khaine with it's vortex ability was the right choice.
I think khorne can benefit from lizardmen heroes the most
I know it is nearly impossible to get them because of how they hate demons but just imagine some scar vets with that absured amount of attack or some skink priests on engine of the gods

Honestly they really should just implement the heroes being “stolen,” one of the coolest additions to warhammer 2 I thought was Marcus Wolfhearts campaign where you could earn these OP heroes not in your faction. Single entities are fun! Let us have more.

The Nurgle heroes not having the healing ability is easily explained I think. The skills become available before rank 20 and the AI just chose one of the ones that isn’t the heal. Without mods there is literally nothing to be done about that
The dwarves are probably there for 'sharpen weapons' for +10% weapon strength. You don't need two of them though. Harden armour gives a pretty insignificant amount of armour.
You love to see it, so many ways to break the game in immortal empires.
Fun little fact, You can steal items from borrowed Armies without the need to steal a Hero. This is great because the AI cheats to get the great staple items like Armor or Destiny and the Ward Save Talismans.
Steps:
1. Borrow an army
2. Click on one of your (not borrowed) lords or heroes
3. unequip all their equipment(so it doesn't swap gear when we take the items)
4. Scroll all your items and identify the borrowed Armies equipped gear
5. proceed to equip the items onto your character
6. Profit
you retain the items when the army is returned and quite often, they somehow are able to re-equip items by the time you can borrow again. The items will vary but typically is reflects the level of the character more than it reflects on how well the faction is doing as a whole.

I also find it funny that when Scarbrand goes through certain units to get to others, the Ai is just like, "aight hold on, let me get out of the way for you." Like the Ushabti greatbows near the end of the battle.
Also, I feel the reason the Exalted heroes of Nurgle dont have the one skill is because the Ai had already chosen that skill before he could keep the unit.
To be fair, if I see a 5 story tall flaming demon with red-hot axes spitting fire charging at me as fast as a truck, I would also prefer to get out of the way.

6:28 I definitely recommend the "ultra agressive & smart ai" mod. I only have this mod on and campaign ai seems alot more alive and responsive. They muster more armies and actually try to defend themselves.
I need to try that one. I am sick and tired of AI empires who dont defend their back lines and lets you ramopage yheir main citys while they go for minor armys or objetives (like that little settlement going to reach level 3 after 8 turns...)
I'd like to see that army take on all those stacks of tomb kings at once.

Seems like by far the hardest part of getting heroes from other factions is actually finding some with a high enough level. Otherwise you'd have to farm battles for a long time.
Is there some trick to make it easier apart from playin Norsca?
Not if you want a wide swath of heroes, but if you wanted specifically just packmasters/chieftains then just make sure all the Skavens you can vassalise/ally expand. The issue I've found with doing this sort of thing is if the army can't expand they stop making armies/heroes and plataeu. Sometimes after 20 turns or so they will start making heroes/armies again, but I've vassals like Vlad just stop putting heroes into his armies entirely, but still endlessly make armies. I don't think any other faction can make heroes immortal, so it's just Norsca for the ease of use.
I had a borrowed army allied demon prince of nurgle die to attrition and pop up in my lord pool for the chaos dwarves, one of the coolest things I've seen in the game honestly

It would be cool if Khorne gave Skarbrand his wings back once something crazy was achieved in campaign.
I wonder if there's a particular Dark Elf name of Power that would be strong for the stack.
masters can only get martial name of power, and those are usually buffs only to the particular hero unfortunately (tho obv ward save or regens are nice to have). it would be nice to be able to steal a master that has the speed or range buff for the whole army, but also most of the revered names of power are for particular delf units, so not really worth stealing even if it was possible
NGL, I sincerely thought that the only way to pull this off was utilizing Cryswar's Peacehammer mod--specifically, the Recruit All Heroes submod. The things some people will (within vanilla parameters) do for love (of the game)...
This is Khorne, the point is to be beyond excessive. If this isn't your late game in terms of excessiveness in any way, you're doing it wrong.
And it's very hilarious and fitting seeing multiple different faction heroes fighting for Khorne, but more importantly seeing all those buffs from said heroes boost Skarbrand to obscene levels. That was pretty hilarious seeing him solo the entire army by himself and wrecking house all over the place solo.
Ironic, in that Khorne's most hated peer is Slaanesh, the God of Excess, and yet Khorne is the one that's excessive here.

Since I love making goofy doomstacks and dont trust my idiot vassals to do anything productive; I use trait manager and you can give shared armies traits to make them immortal via say, memorium mortis; the vampire count trait that gives kevin von loydstein immortality at a low level. This can speed up the process of hero farming immensely
One last thing to note is that when the hero is wounded it will tell you what title they take up, i.e. a skin wolf werekin being wounded tells belakor that hes an exalted hero in the title card, whereas an iridescent horror is classified as a lord and doesnt take up any slots whatsoever
now i havent done the math on it so I dont know if heroes being labeled as lords screwes with supply lines, but ive had an iridescent horror stack in a vilitch army for the shits and giggles and his upkeep was lower than say, my chosen doomstack so i think its okay, but i would recommend doing the math yourself to make sure

I think he didn't go with the heal ability on the woc heroes cause these abilities are mutually exclusive with other skills so the AI probably got some shit skills instead with them and prevented him from getting the heal

exalted heroes of nurgle have the ability to reduce armor by 10 and the runesmiths have the ability to reduce missile and spell resistance by 10 each and the masters i have no idea why he got them
I mean from a Lore perspective Factions having other Factions "heros" is actually very much a real and possible thing, ESPECIALLY when you play as Chaos.
What happens if you save/export a stolen hero? Do they get added to the save pool of their home race, or to that of the race you are playing as?

You know I've been giving it a little bit of thought and I think what creative assembly should do is just start asking you what you would do in certain situations and start building AIs on that like they would ask you if: insert situation then: what you would do in that situation.
And then have that be the legendary difficulty and then laugh as the AI starts throwing cheesy Doom stacks at players.
There is a mod that lets you recruit any hero/lord, so you can do all the arduous work Legend described in just a couple of minutes.
I mean, once mods are on the table there's nothing stopping you from just getting the Legendary Hero One Punch Man, with 90% ward save, 400 Melee Attack and Melee Defence, 80K Weapon Damage, and a global -150 Leadership debuff to all enemy units
I have a question- Do you know if Ward reduces damage by type first, or just a general reduction? I.E, is AP reduced before non-AP? Could a 90% Ward and 200 Armor effectively reduce damage to nothing?
Its a general reduction. 90% ward save would reduce 100AP/0normal to 10 AP, 50AP/50normal to 5AP/5normal or 0AP/100normal to 0AP/10 normal.
The various Ward saves also stack. 90% ward save is the same as 45% physical ward save and 45% missile ward save, unless you get attacked in melee or by magic. Then its only the ward save that applies.
@@13g0man I think you may have misunderstood his question or I misunderstood your answer. I'll use your examples. Let's say I have 90% ward save and they have 50ap/50 normal. As you stated that would bring it down to 5/5. If I have say 120 armor on top of that, does it reduce after the ward save calculations or after? If after it would make that attack virtually 1/1 right?

Sea event. you get it randomly by exploring the islands in the sea for a period of time (like 20 tuns maybe)
I've actually did manage to vassalize the Deamon prince in at least one campaign playing as Archy. Had to beat him down to his last city and instead of confederating him I just vassalized instead.
Can you do this with Legendary heroes?

You get bored by turn 70? Oh man. That's when things start getting good. You start facing factions that have had time to build up without your interference so they can actually bite you back. Diplomacy becomes more difficult as well since everyone knows everyone by that point so every action you take will piss someone off while making another happy. Piss enough people off and they will band together against you
The game just lacks the difficulty to do any serious army building. Now I will say I still do, because I want perfect armies that never take any damage. 😂
Mybe Nurgle heroes didnt pick that heal ability, isnt that first 20 skils pick AI ? bks you dont have control until you get these heroes
He choosing that ability is at level 12.
@@maxpower3990 yes but imortality is lv 20 and you cant get ally hero before he is lv 20, and AI spend every skill until that, witch include abaility on lv 12.. only way to do it is that AI doesn't take that skill from lv 12 until lv 20

I've asked this before but never got an answer... is there any way to get ahold of any of these save files that he does these vids on? I'm terrible at playing campaign and I usually just play the skirmish battles... but I'd love to try out some of these goofy doomstacks just to mess around with them. Anyone know if there's a place where he shares them?
i don't think he's ever sharing them. the save files belong to the people who send them to legend after all, i guess you could try asking if they're willing to share the files with you, or maybe try asking around in some player communities like discord for their saves, but legend is not providing the ones he's getting for community use

Playing as Queek I just raided Azhag for a few turns and ended up with like +400 relations from the dwarfs. Very surprised when Thorgrim approached Queek The dwarf-Gouger headtaker with an "ALL HERE ARE HONORED DWARF-KIN"

If you install the mod one button respec you can respec those exalted heros of nurgle for a thousand gold! Love that mod always hated confederation lords being screwed up
