    I mean dont expect that hyper tough impact to remove your tires lug nuts, if your going to remove lug nuts use a 1/2. A stubby 3/8 is for small jobs like intake or maybe a fender or so. Every tool is meant for a proper job what its meant for.

      We’re in a whole new era of cordless tools. The stater kit Ryobi 1/4 hex impact driver (p235a) can zip off wheel lugs. Torqued to 100lb ft. Had been on the car through 2 Iowa winters. Zipped them off handily, would do it again without a second thought. I was on cheap off brand ebay “2.5ah” batteries too.

  • @Wizkid490
    @Wizkid490 Před 9 měsíci +2

    A couple of points on the impact wrench:
    1. It's a whole different body than the impact driver, and likely very different internals.
    2. It REALLY likes the 4ah battery, from the testing I've seen. It apparently literally won't even work with 1.5 ah batteries.
    3. Per the owner's manual, two battery lights is between 30% and 70% battery, so likely operating far quite a bit lower than it's max power.
    4. That socket adapter brings the power down by up to 30%! Impacts don't transfer well across connections, so any time you add an extra piece to the puzzle, it kills power.
    5. The minimum industry standard test is ten seconds of continuous impacting at full power. Pretty common to use non-standard testing to get bigger numbers, but it should perform close to it's best at 10-15 seconds. Don't worry - it's brushless and reactionless - the motor isn't really straining, and it won't overheat.
    I just got mine, and haven't really put it through its paces yet, but I suspect even an M12 stubby would fail under these conditions. In fairness, if you're intending to tackle SUV/Truck lug nuts regularly, it's probably worth investing in a more powerful 20v 1/2 inch gun. Pretty common for those style of lug nuts to be torqued to 150-200 ft/lbs.

    The body looks similar to the m12 stubby but the functionality and application remind me of Snap On's early Nicad 7.2 volt compact 3/8 impact. One could use it for light work in the engine bay or to transfer limited components when swapping engines, but real suspension, brake work, engine mounts or heavy duty applications were out side its wheels house. I wonder how the 2nd generation of this will perform.

They were torqued to 100lb ft and had been on the car through 2 Iowa winters. I was using off brand ebay “2.5ah” batteries. No struggle zipped all 5 right off. rust forms on lugnuts and over time the heat and cool down cylce makes it basically stuck at higher torque. so its not the fault of the tool. if you were to tighten a nut to 100lbs on a test rig and take it off the tool would do its job. so of course you would need something more beefy to compensate.

      I tried it a few times, it only worked on my compact car, and barely because my lug nuts were rusted on, the main issue I see is if it struggles to take one lug nut off, it will deplete the battery, and after one tire it might have 2 bars left on the 4ah battery, this wouldn’t be ideal to take several tires off
