Although whilst watching this many fond memories resurfaced, I also felt a sorrow of leaving the place where I grew up. I've been working in Kingston. Went in O'Neils pub and a lad got punched in the nose by another lad, blood all over the place. Someone was stabbed to death in one of the nightclubs. At 3am in the morning the streets are full of noisy drunks outside chicken and chips shops. Some days there are lots of east european beggars.
Oh dear, the fishes has gone the way of the "Kinema" then? I was born on Villiers Avenue Surbiton and met my wife at Surbiton Hospital where she was a nurse.
Right. I went to Kingston for a trip down memory lane as one does, I hardly recognized Kingston at all! The shapes of the streets had changed completely. I found my bearings when I saw Kingston station. Also I saw the telephone boxes outside where C&A used to be, I thought they were waiting for the scrap-man. I really couldn't see how Kingston had been "improved" as such, can you? There were a few Indian restaurants we used to go to though. I wasn't actually stupid enough to frequent the "Fishes" I went there a couple of times, it seemed dangerous and anyway I don't drink. I suppose "Fife road" is no more?

I was born in Villiers Avenue in 1945, left in 1969, the streets look shabbier now and yes, the people look a lot sadder. I wonder why?
