I grew up in a poor family.
We didn't have a TV or a fridge. We never had a car or a holiday. Often we had no power in the house and it was freezing. Lots of times there was no food. I never had new clothes or correct school uniform. There was no carpet on the floors.
I guess people class poor differently depending on their own situation.
There's probably people even worse off then me as a kid because at least we lived in a house.
Some people think I'm poor now, but I feel okay. I work and earn enough for my rent, council tax, bills and food. there isn't anything much left over but I'm happy to have food and heat. I still have never had a holiday or owned a car and I make most of my own clothes from older clothes people have given me, but I enjoy sewing and I'm okay at it.
I guess life is what you make it.

Yes modesty should be applauded and celebrated. Not the braggy, lavishly spenders. Because of course in the end you can't take any of that gold, platinum, and diamonds with you. Helping others with your fortune makes more of an impact than buying million dollar cars and jewelry.

The thing here in Illinois (not sure about elsewhere) but the more plain your house and yard are, the cheaper the taxes. So many places around here look like poor people live there, until you walk inside. Unless you have money like that and don't mind paying the extra for the curb appeal or are a renter, you don't spend much on the outside. Not saying places look deplorable or anything, they look like that on the outside, good chance the inside isn't any better

Positive attitude and making a difference where they choose to decide what they want out of life just as everyone else. Money doesn't mean a better life. Who you are and how you want to live life is more important. Be true to yourself, do what is right and work hard at yourself to succeed in making your life important because you only have one life to live. Change yourself, make a difference in others and in the end it will pay off. If your unhappy, remember your the one that has to make a change to become your own believer in yourself. Live your life to your fullest and money can't buy you love and happiness but you can make yourself happy and blessed but most of all love yourself and you can shine just like these positive people loving their simple lives.
