- Jake the dog isn’t what you think about when you picture your traditional family man. But beneath the themes of friendship and adventure on this show, there are some hilarious and heartfelt family dynamics, and Jake’s family line is definitely the most colorful. With Bronwyn showing up at the end of Obsidian in place of her grandpa, I thought now might be a good time to recap all of Jakes children and granchildren. Something about Joshua and Margret is that they treat Finn as if he was just another child of theirs. I genuinely like how it’s not treated like a big deal and that’s something that I can appreciate a lot. Not speaking as an adopted child but someone who likes how they don’t treat the fact that he’s not their biological son as a bad thing.
Joshua and Margaret have too much love to not share with others, just like they loved Tiffany in together again
Yeah i wished they showed more of their interaction together in the show.

I like to think that Bronwyn made a wish to prismo to extend her life to human lengths, she doesn’t seem as old as she should in obsidian.
Well, she is part alien, part bear, and part rainicorn in addition to dog, so her life span has a lot of variables. Jake and Jermaine already made it to 17 so they have both lived much longer than many dogs do and Jermaine is 100% dog.

I was waiting for that ever since we saw them do it as pups and when jake's shapeshifter dad showed up I thought for sure the pups were going to defeat him! but then they didn't so I figured they were saving them for the final showdown with the big bad (golb) but then they still never used them. bummer
Kids grow up at an accelerated rated, and leave their parents to become independent within the first year of their lives. "Why is are Dad a terrible Dad?"
I really like how Adventure Time dealt with non-traditional families. They handled it well by showing that love and acceptance are what define parents in the eyes of a child, and how even if you're not blood related, you can still be family.

I feel like Jake got into the 50th death world because he is friends with the cosmic owl and Prismo. Some of the strongest beings that exist in their universe. Besides that it makes no sense how Jake got into the 50th and Finn only got in the 37th (I think I forgot).

I don't know where I've heard it but I remember hearing Jake saying he's 44 years old in magic dog years or something like that
In the ep “Daddy Daughter Card Wars” Jake says he isn’t sure how old he is in dog years anymore, but he doesn’t want to live over 40 (but he’s afraid it might be too late for that). Considering the show starts w/ Finn being 12 and Jake being 28, that means Jake ages approximately 2 & 1/3 times as fast as Finn. With Finn being 17 by the series finale, that’d make Jake around 39-40

It would seem Beth and Shermy are literally Finn and Jake
Margaret and Joshua are the purest characters in the story of Adventure time. They raised every children they had with kindness and everyone grew up to be a remarkable person. I love how they are dogs.

i wish we got more of the pup kingdom. one of the most interesting parts of the show to me is the 1000 years later future. we only really see it i think three times, and the fact that pups became the dominant (or, i guess a super prominent) race is wild. not to mention they get special powers, and theres a whole future plotline that could exist with gibbon extinguishing powers and beth being wanted. if they made more distant lands episodes, id be so down for one primarily about pups. whether its jakes kids, or his descendants way in the future, or both, itd be cool to see more ultra powerful pup action

This show was so silly to me when it came out. I loved it then still. But over the years its literally the most deep and emotional cartoon I've ever seen. Its episodes that made me laugh, cry a little, confused me to death. I love it so much and wish I could have seen the final seasons
I love Jake. But Kim never realized that Jake lived the way he did for Finn's sake only dropping adult knowledge when it was necessary since Jake ages slower than most of the other characters.

im surprised there hasnt been an episode on finn hanging out with one of jakes kids or grandkids talking specifically about how he donked up as a dad and the comparisons between jake and martin. they touched on it in the KKW episodes but not much happened in that department. may it be a fault on rainicornpups lifespan, but he still was old enough to be a father to them the same way jake was a brother to finn. not all the lessons were in the best light, but he was still a figure of sorts, and the comparisons between jake and martin would be a nice touch in the HBO series if we ever get that interaction.
Jake may not be the best dad ever in cartoons, they certainly is one of the coolest! I also appreciate that he at least wants to try to be in his children's lives and loves every single one of them!!!

I love how are all Jake's pups but my 2 favorite are Jake Jr and TV because I love how Jake Jr is so cute and kind of disturbing she has a cold and deep philosophy of reality, her eyes when they are open looks so scary and I love it (in one episode Jake have a nightmare with vampire pups and in a frame she open her eyes brrrr) and TV is like a Geek dude that knows a lot of technology, and introvert that prefer chilling and staying in his family house and I love it reminds me a lot of my friends and my boyfriend.

As cool as those pups were for jake. I feel a little bit more disturbed by the fact that everybody acknowledged that they are aging faster but themselves. I may understand maybe for the son to think his dad is being childish and hang out with Finn in that episode. I believe it makes sense for Jake to go back with finn and still act care free because he knows that his sons and daughters are grown up living their own life and Finn is still a kid so common sense why finn needed him more than his own kids need in theirs. All of his kids were rapidly aging faster and different set of mindset I guess is fine but I sometimes wish they would cut some slack for their dad. TV had that sour mention that Jake only met him twice was heartbreaking to hear not because Jake was a not bad dad but from jake's point that was a sweet moment that that could have happened in one week but 2 random days that happened in years of his life. I don't know it's just I think if anyone else was in his position would probably a little bit mad but for Jake he managed to go with it and embrace it. Which is another thing I think the his kids fell to understand about their dad. Jake love them when they were born but but a little bit cheated out of it because if they had age a little slower or grew the same way they probably would have seen him the same way Finn did.

I relate most hard to the pups. My dad was a total bum when I was growing up. I love him but I had to learn how to love him as a real person. Not a hero or an enemy. Just a person.
Bronwin is the perfect companion for finn, but i hope to see the hauntress again, finn and her looked pretty cute together
